This woman should speak for herself and her PDP members alone. Yorubas hardly need her advice now. The people at the forefront of the SW leadership are doing just fine at the moment. What we want is development and not just who is occupying which office.

This party hasn't been registered and it has already generated so much discussion. I think it shows that Nigerians are really yearning for a change. I'm not surprised by the constant bashing by the PDP goons on here though. If they truly think APC will be such a failure, i'd expect them to have written it off already. This constant bashing can only mean one thing - they're scared. And that's good. If you think that the men in APC are not good enough, simply go and form your own party. Or are you not Nigerians? I don't think the APC is being imposed on anyone and I'm sure INEC will still register as many parties that meet the requirements. The final say will come from Nigerian voters.

Tinubu beats Obasanjo hands down. Obasanjo is an arrogant dictator who just wants to be at the top, wielding power, totally disconnected from the masses. A very vindictive man too. Tinubu is an opposite of that.

I find it laughable when people say oh...this religion is perfect. Damn it, no religion is perfect! This is a propaganda which we were all taught as kids. A lot of their ideologies were probably useful in the old ages but most can't stand the test of time, and that's why there's so much conflict between religions and modernization/technological advancement. The only consolation is that technology is helping people reason. I know that no ideology is perfect but they should all be subject to constant improvements.

El-Rufai has simply lost it. He has shown in so many ways that he can't be trusted. A politician is pragmatic and always controls his emotions. I like him as a critic though. He can always put the govt of the day on its toes.

Gbawe: Soludo is the wrong sort of technocrat because he is a capitalist with absolutely no moral fortitude or uprightness. He will create a billionaire class faster than you can say Coca-Cola. It is very important to fully appreciate the problem before one seeks solution. Nigeria, for now, simply needs a very brave, social-leaning and pro-people leader with unshakeable political will. The solutions to Nigeria's problem does not need Rocket science analysis as folks like you think. More important is uprightness, the readiness to eschew greed and materialism plus the bravery to do what is in the best interest of Nigeria regardless of whose Ox will be gored. Let us for once, and for the sake of our nation, given how badly we have fallen, stop this "my local champion" way of viewing things.

Soludo will be a terrible choice because, even for all his innate brilliance, his highly materialistic and grotesquely capitalist leaning means he is the sort, via chasing aggressive weath creation, who will cause far-reaching problems like the credit crunch where a few become hideously rich and majority are condemned to misery. Soludo, for example, will not handle the fuels subsidy scam different to the timid and compromised GEJ who preferred heaping misery on Nigerians than go after the crook who deserved life sentences for their treasonous scams...

On point. Soludo, Okonjo-Iweala etc are not the kind of leaders you want to have at the helms. To them, experimenting their Ivy League economic ideologies is more important than making life worth living for their fellow countrymen & women, and Nigerians are nothing more than statistics. If you want people from the east who have the human touch, then mention Ngige, Okorocha, Ezekwesili etc.

right. It shows that the APC has a lot of job to do. I sincerely wish them (and us Nigerians) the best. I hope they'll stop wasting time on a party logo and move on. I wonder why they can't just pick something like a horse or elephant rather than an emblem comprising of corn, broom, pen etc. I hope they know that time's not on their side.

Gbawe: Look, it is not "selfishness" patriotically believing you have something to offer your Nation. Atta-Mills, like Buhari, competed twice (2000 and 2004) before winning at the third go in 2008. You must accept that most Nigerian voters will not be like you and most of us here - especially in the North. They will be sentimental and highly biased. Please understand that I don't discount your opinion about 'fresh blood' which is a good one...

Firstly, I have to say I always respect your analyses and mature opinion. But don't you think Ribadu is more appealing to the north than Buhari is to the south? I also think it's easier to get the north to vote as a single block if Ribadu is pitted against Jonathan, better than what Buhari got in 2011. I campaigned a lot for Buhari in 2011 but I'm having my fears for his acceptability in the south (esp SE) in 2015. We can't just ignore the fact that people vote based solely on ethnic/religious sentiments.

My wish is a Ribadu+Ezekwesili/Ngige/Okorocha candidacy. I think the north will sway in their favor if Buhari campaigns for them. El-Rufai & Oshiomole are moles (pun intended) as far as I am concerned & can't be trusted.

Gbawe: Forget it. The most intelligent politicians, like Tinubu, fully understand the aspect of politics that is about perception and image . It would be mentally damaging for the APC , after many sagacious characters have put sterling efforts into the merger from day one, to then go and court a serving PDP Politician as Presidential candidate. That won't happen because it defies logic and goes against what needs to be done to achieve a defeat of the PDP.

Even a child knows it is a self-destructive and losing strategy let alone the ultra-intelligent analysts who will realise the APC stand no chance if it cannot establish an independent identity using its own sagacious, most influential and best known characters. No ex-PDP member will get President or VP slot in the APC.

Your argument may be good enough for ignorant people who don't know history of the world and religions, but you're not discussing with such people here. Your points still can't erase the fact that a lot of people carry out violent and unjustifiable crimes in the name of Islam, and they're even ready to do worse if only they had the chance(can you imagine someone like Ayman Al-Zawahiri laying hands on a nuclear bomb today?) And badly enough, they use Quranic verses and Hadith to justify these evil acts. And please don't tell me they're not Muslims. As a matter of fact, they're many Muslims' role models.

You cite instances of wars & conflicts which are caused by failures of man-made systems, and then use that to compare, justify & dismiss evils committed by people who're supposed to be following a divine way of life which ought to be infallible. I know you're passionate about your religion and you expect it to be perfect. But sadly, it's not perfect. That's a fact which every follower of every religion has to accept sooner or later. Failure to do this is just living in denial. There is no way you can be a 100% religious believer/follower, and then still be a reasonable and peace-loving human being who just wants to "live & let live." It's simply not possible, and this is not just theory. The facts are all around us, both in history and today.
