Car TalkRe: Car Owners Prefer Fake Insurance From Licencing Offices? Why? by skyfall:
@OP

It seems you're here to sell a product, otherwise I wonder why you have to force your opinions on us as if we're schoolchildren. Lagosians don't bother about original/verifiable 3rd-party insurance, not necessarily due to ignorance but because of the lenghty paper- & legwork.

Lagosians are ALWAYS in a hurry and don't have time trying to make claims for repairs they can quickly fix for 5-10k. They believe they'll make more money in those hours wasted with police & insurance company. They only pay for the "fake" 3rd-party insurance so as to escape police/FRSC checkpoints.

The last time a danfo hit my car from behind, I had to fix the car myself (for 8k). The stupid guy just kept begging me, telling me that he had only 1k or so. I collected the money though (just to make him part with something as a lesson) and used it to wash my car after the repairs. In this case, following up with the guy is not worth my time but that doesn't stop me from insuring my car in case of something bigger.

Comprehensive insurance is an entirely different story. Many people who buy say post-2005 cars usu go for it and I know that the insurance companies pay claims but the paperwork is also much. If it's a relatively serious accident, esp if the car is immobilised, common sense says you should make a claim so your paid premiums don't amount to a loss.

PoliticsLeadership Newspapers Staff Detained By Police Over Leaked "Bromide" by skyfall(op): 7:53pm On Apr 08, 2013
LEADERSHIP, the Abuja national newspaper
four of whose journalists were summoned by
the police today, are being detained on the
orders of President Goodluck Jonathan, the
newspaper has said in a statement.
As SaharaReporters reported previously, the
journalists were invited to meet with the police
in connection with a story the newspaper
published last week about a presidential
directive to muzzle political opposition, the
supporting document of which appeared in
the paper.
The statement, signed by the company’s
Group Managing Director, Azubuike
Ishiekwene, named the four journalists as
Chinyere Fred-Adebulugbe; Tony Amokeodo;
Chibuzor Ukaibe; and Chuks Ohuegbe.
Mrs. Fred-Adebulugbe, the title’s Director of
Human Capital who led the group, said that
after they had given written statements to
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Peter Gana
who interviewed them, they were abruptly
told they would not be allowed to leave unless
they disclosed their source.
“We told them that it would be unethical to
disclose our source and asked them to charge
us to court, if they wanted,” she said. “They
said they wanted to have the document. We
said the bromide had been published and
wondered why they were making such a fuss,
since they said the document was a work of
fiction.”
LEADERSHIP described the latest development
as “a calculated and brazen affront” on press
freedom, and expressed consternation that a
supposedly elected government has sunk so
low.
“President Jonathan and his handlers need to
tell Nigerians and the civilised world why they
have suddenly moved from describing the
document as “fiction,” to a do-or-die obsession
with knowing the source; they need to tell
Nigerians most of who now live in mortal fear
of their personal safety and security, if
clamping down on the press has now become
a priority sport,” the statement said,
expressing resolve to hold the government to
account as enshrined in the constitution.
“We stand by our story and will neither be
cowed nor intimidated by the strong-arm
tactics of President Jonathan nor by the
puerile attempts by his spokesmen – Doyin
Okupe and Dr. Reuben Abati – to tarnish our
report,” the statement said.
Full text of the statement:
Four journalists with LEADERSHIP Newspapers
have been detained at the Force
Headquarters, Abuja, on the orders of
President Goodluck Jonathan.
The journalists, Mrs. Chinyere Fred-
Adebulugbe; Mr. Tony Amokeodo; Mr.
Chibuzor Ukaibe; and Mr. Chuks Ohuegbe, had
reported at the Force Headquarters on
Monday morning to honour an invitation by
the police.
The Director, Human Capital and former
LEADERSHIP Sunday Editor, Mrs. Fred-
Adegbulugbe, who led the journalists said,
“After the journalists finished writing
statements, DIG Peter Gana suddenly excused
himself on a call from IGP Mohammed
Abubakar.
“We were later told that we would not be
allowed to leave except if we produced the
source of the story. It was clear that this was
not the call of the police. It is from President
Goodluck Jonathan.
“We told them that it would be unethical to
disclose our source and asked them to charge
us to court, if they wanted. They said they
wanted to have the document. We said the
bromide had been published and wondered
why they were making such a fuss, since they
said the document was a work of fiction.
“The have made it clear that we would not be
released except we give them the document.
We can’t get out. I was escorted to use the
toilet after begging.”
This is a calculated and brazen affront on
press freedom; we are bereft that a
supposedly elected government will come this
low.
We demand the unconditional and immediate
release of our journalists – Mrs. Chinyere Fred-
Adebulugbe (Director, Human Capital); Chuks
Ohuegbe (Managing Editor); Tony Amokeodo
(Group News Editor); and Chibuzor Ukaibe
(Political Reporter).
President Jonathan and his handlers need to
tell Nigerians and the civilised world why they
have suddenly moved from describing the
document as “fiction,” to a do-or-die obsession
with knowing the source; they need to tell
Nigerians most of who now live in mortal fear
of their personal safety and security, if
clamping down on the press has now become
a priority sport.
On our part, we wish to restate our resolve to
continue to hold the government to account
as enshrined in Chapter 22 of the constitution
and to remain resolute in championing the
course of press freedom and the right of the
people to know.
We stand by our story and will neither be
cowed nor intimidated by the strong-arm
tactics of President Jonathan nor by the
puerile attempts by his spokesmen – Doyin
Okupe and Dr. Reuben Abati – to tarnish our
report.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan To Break ACN Strangehold On South West With Ministerial Appointments by skyfall: 10:26pm On Apr 07, 2013
I don't know who is dafter between Jonathan & his advisers. So because he has bribed Fasehun & Jimi Agbaje now, all of the SW would rush & vote for him in 2015?

Somebody tell him we know the right thing in the SW & we're not like the blind primitives in his SS who keep voting for PDP even though they live in penury while surrounded by their God-given black gold.

We have tasted something close to good governance and we're never going back. It can only get better for us.

Fasheun is a traitor. No wonder he supports Jonathan's 2015 plan & Alamieyesegha's pardon. The only thing left to him is to join PDP or become Jonathan's spokesperson like Okupe. Thankfully both of them are non-practicing (and hungry) medical doctors.

He'll surely regret this & that contract he has collected will definitely consume him.

Mization: It was learnt that 15 policemen were in the boat providing escort to dignitaries attending the burial when their boat suddenly developed a fault and while they were trying to fix it, a speedboat conveying some armed men opened fire at them killing 13 of them on the spot while the other two jumped into the river.
B@stards always burying their parents and wasting the lives of uniformed men.

If you're a Nigerian police officer, you're doomed. If Boko don't get you in the North, MEND will get u in the SS, or armed robbers in the SW/SE.

If u love your life, better resign & go & farm in your village.

ROYALD: HEY MAN I KNOW WHO IS BUHARI AND ATIKU OK

BUHARI HE WARNED: "IF WHAT HAPPENS IN 2011 SHOULD AGAIN HAPPEN IN 2015, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THE DOG AND THE BABOON WOULD ALL BE SOAKED IN BLOOD."

NOW TELL ME THE MEANING?
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/opinion/41211-buharis-call-to-violence
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/politics/46967-ripples-over-buhari%E2%80%99s-2015-ambition.html
Yes, Gen Buhari said that, but any Nigerian could have said that there would be violence if elections are rigged in 2015. Niger Delta militants esp Asari-dokubo have said worse things and no one has blamed him for being behind Boko Haram (even though he's a Muslim too).

See, the point is that if Jonathan's govt has any proof linking Gen Buhari with BH, they should arrest him & charge him to court immediately. Heavens will not fall. But we all know they don't.

All these surreptitious moves only show that Jonathan & all the people he surrounds himself with are nothing but inept cowards. Imagine Doyin Okupe being a govt spokesperson, when we all know that he'll say anything just to put food on his table.

Man, use accurate data to make your point. It was ATIKU ABUBAKAR (not General Buhari) who threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable if Jonathan won the PDP primaries. And yes ATIKU IS A PDP MEMBER and he has been welcomed back into the party.
PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Is GEJ's Baby - Buhari Fires Back by skyfall: 1:30pm On Apr 04, 2013
I agree with Gen Buhari. Boko Haram is Jonathan/PDP's baby. The terrorist group is more useful to Jonathan than anyone else. Look at the following
-All politicians linked to BH till date (inc VP Sambo) are PDP members. All of them have also been released on bail.
-Jonathan announced that BH have infiltrated his govt.
-Jonathan said BH are "our brothers."
-Hundreds of BH members have been arrested and we've only heard of just a 3yr conviction for only one of them.
-BH members successfully attacked & freed their members from the SARS HQ in Abuja, which is expected to be the Nigerian Police' most secure detention center.
-Late Gen Azazi (former NSA) said it loudly in public that BH is a creation of the PDP.
-Jonathan keeps saying that BH are ghosts and he can't dialogue with ghosts, even though prominent Nigerians (incl prominent Northern Xtians) think otherwise.
-There is always a major BH attack whenever Jonathan has very low public ratings. The latest of which was the Kano motor park bombing at the height of the Alamieyeseigha pardon.

Nigerians, think. All these are not mere coincidences.

Asking Gen Buhari to call BH to order is nothing but blackmail and according to Itse Sagay, it's meant to trap Gen Buhari.

Sweetlemon: First,

Jesus Christ is not a Christian. It is we who serve him that are Christians. Jesus was born a Jew. He came in to create another channel of worshipping God different from (although not completely removed from) that of his ansectors.
Nigerian Christians need to get something into their heads. Which is that Jews are NOT Christians and in fact, hate Christians. Do you guys read your bibles at allhuh It was the Jews...
You're absolutely correct. I wish that Nigerian Xtians read more of history. BTW, their religion is called Judaism (not Jewism) LOL. But we get the idea. Also Judaism is not just their religion. It's their race - you can't be a Judaist without being a Jew. Jews are the MOST racist people in the whole wide world. I can almost say that the KKK is better than them.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Some Nigerians Fly Isreali Flag In Nigeria by skyfall: 7:28pm On Apr 01, 2013
cap28: because they are fools - israel is a racist state that recently deported thousands of ethiopians, they regard black africans as inferior and yet some id.iots in nigeria fly their flag - those fools need to know that the israelis supported aparthied south africa during white minority rule.
It's worse than that. They're even forcibly sterilising African migrants.
www.salon.com/2013/01/28/israel_admits_ethiopian_jewish_immigrants_were_given_birth_control_shots/

It's only stvpidity garnished with ignorance that'll make a Nigerian fly the Israeli flag. That country is a terrorist nation.

pekelepekele: Well that is just too bad of CBN . I don't own a bank or either a bank staff but one thing I have noticed is that since they canceled the N100 charge on different bank cards on a particular ATM machine the banks are no longer loading all their ATMS and ATM machines are becoming much more non reliable . They should just reduce the price to N50 because the banks won't carry out their proper duties in any area they are not earning from.
I think you should write a letter to your bank to start charging you the N50 monthly fee.

But IMO, there should be a penalty for empty ATMs. What's the point of having an ATM with no cash? The banks are fvcking thieves!

Good move, CBN.
