I work with a Bank in Nigeria with a monthly salary of almost 400k aside other benefits so from the eyes of friends and family, life's good. I've been so comfortable with this "perfect life" for so long until recently when some events played out at work. It then dawned on me that I've not done anything to improve myself since I got my BSc in 2011 or any professional course since I joined the Bank in 2013. A rushed attempt with CFA in December 2018 and an online MBA while working full time gave me a humbling experience. After some deep thoughts (reviewing where I started and my plan for my future career I decided that I'll resign and pursue a masters and professional course this September. Popc, Mumc and other family and friends came up with the usual gist "do you know how many people out there are with MSc and without a job? Infact they went further to visit a prayer house and the woman said they saw a vision that when I traveled to the UK, she saw my wife Suffering, became very slim and unhappy"

I have been praying for God's guidance since May when I got the unconditional offer from BU.
Yesterday during the sermon "from lockdown to leaping up by Pst EA Adeboye, he made reference to his school teacher years ago who was comfortable with his certificate and with the prestige that came with been a high school teacher. While he failed to advance, Adeboye did and became a lecturer at UniLag. Years later, teachers with just school certificate were faded out and he was caught up." He also made reference to the RCCG camp when the first hall was built, people all over thought this was the biggest in Africa "The church has arrived" but he had a plan and saw the future and wasn't deterred from what others were saying."
Suffice to say my wife I and got home happy and convinced that this should be our next step forward.

I am sharing this here because there have been so many uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic and somehow easy decisions has become extremely difficult. My advice to anyone in such situation is the first convince yourself why you want to take this step, know your strength and weaknesses. My next phase is to take my career international, gain some form of overseas experience before returning back to Africa. How do I achieve this!? My Msc is in International Finance and Economics and I plan to finish with distinction or Merit been the minimum, intern with JP Morgan at their Bournemouth field office and look for opportunities at their office in USA much later. I already searched for attribute and qualities of the roles I plan to apply for, looked up those courses in Udemy and Coursera that can improve my deficiency and start my application the minute I land in BU once i secure an apartment/address and contact number. I also tried to reach out to Nigerian and other nationals (especially blacks and minority groups) to ask how they got in and any advice they could offer. I also used YouTube to learn about the town, adjourning towns and major financial firms around just in case I don't get in to JP Morgan at first. Also via YouTube I got to find out about the Global Talent Program at BU and how that can help my employment status as I'd get to travel, learn new language, build self confidence and network in the process. Also since I'm coming from a science background, I've gone ahead to download some of the textbooks and journals that can build a background knowledge when classes resume in September 21.

Bottom line I want to finish with distinction and I've accepted my limitations and weakness (I can't do two things together i.e. work full time and study). I advice we all do the same, know your drive and reason for going to the UK and you must become a Techie or Nurse to excel.

I know it might be tough but last last all our hustle go pay off, Amen..!!!!

Yes. Just send to someone that you’re 100% sure has gotten the visa from previous threads or the popular gurus here that are already in Canada or abroad. Don’t send your sop to any PROSPECTIVE applicant. They’re also like you & cannot really help you. They just want to compare your own to theirs & copy where they can. Just do your work jeje, package your documents and pray to your Chi. All the best brother

You’re not required to apply for them.
Personally I will say you should apply alone & state in your SOP that they will be in Nigeria with your spouse during your studies.

It helps to strengthen your home ties.
When your visa comes out, you can now apply for them

My question is, Am I required to apply for study permit for them being that they will be with me during the course of my studies? Please can someone with similar experience give me clues on how to go about this....

While I was going through this thread, I also saw someone’s comment about why a particular person was banned recently just because he/she asked for prospective students to indicate themselves and current students to create a WhatsApp group (so that students aspiring to go to SHU can learn), all of a sudden the person was banned from the group. I believe that shouldn’t lead to a ban but the admin should have just stated it’s not allowed (like warning that it’s not allowed).

However, @Skymoore has been insulting people several times (including people that advises him to stop that bad habit) but admin didn’t give him a strike.

Well in my personal opinion, the admin(s) are biased.

You don’t have to discredit my suggestion to make a point uno? Yes I said ranking didn’t matter for people looking at funds etc, but after seeing your keenness about Aston, I thought I should suggest you remain on that level.

I’m not trying to discourage you or anything, but you can NEVER compare Bradford to Aston. There’re levels to these things. If you really like Aston, I will advise you defer till next year or look for universities within the same league offering January intake.

I mean likes of Queen Mary University, Durham University, Newcastle University, Loughborough University etc

Dude posted something illegal and I clearly did not support his intentions. Other people also spoke against it. Unnecessary sympathy is the reason why crimes are taken for granted in this country.

Out of all the comments, dude picked me out and wished me death? I still did not throw banters but instead called on the moderator to caution him. Someone called the action childish but if I had done otherwise, it will still be an issue.

He deleted all his posts and deactivated the account, good and fine. Story ended.

Now you all are here catching unnecessary feelings and blaming me for his decision to leave Nairaland. Like what exactly did I do? I learnt my lessons in Chipotle....1% was collected from you....next time anytime you are buying such stocks make it long term...calculate also also broker s fees and YOUR OWN GAIN before selling, otherwise you are making money for the these fintechs be it chaka,bamboo,trove or rise

I'm following a couple of nairaland threads and all are generally convivial with people sharing information and ideas, but this particular thread is not so and it usually revolves around your condescending approach towards people you don't even know.
