Let’s say is even “possible”, but that probably worked for him. It may not work for others. Nobody, I repeat nobody should ever believe that you can study and work in the U.K. to pay off your tuition & living expenses, yet still live the “abroad luxury” people always imagine. 90% of the time, you are forced to breach your 20 hours a week allowance or start a self employed side hustle. Even if you’re earning well, e go still dey pain you to pay off the tuition. If someone ask for you loan, you go think am well before you even give response. U.K. is survival of the fittest. When you reach, you shine your eyes well. One Nairalander is asking Justwise to tell him the sort of job he did. Why should he? Everyone has their secret to success and do not owe anyone an explanation of how they made it. You that is asking, will you tell someone exactly how you made your success? Let’s leave this talk abeg Lacrimossa2020: Factor-in food, clothing, flenjoying and see say na only 7k fit remain. Also depends on the schools fees sha. Must have been Teeside school fees |

I’m not sure why I find your recent comments “sarcastic”. More like you’re doubting the possibility of earning enough @20 hours a week, but also trying to find out if there’s a secret “key” to earning that possibility. You remind me of a story for a goblin BouharryArtikou: You are not wrong. You are 100% right. Most people think the only jobs available for students are care jobs and security and retail and hospitality. I’m sure there are some very cool jobs that pays ‘arm robber’ wages (the term ‘arm robber wages was a joke we used to describe NNPc and CBN employees back then when I worked in the bank).
That is why I am pleading with Justwise to help brothers and sisters and give some hints on how to grab those type of jobs. |

Well this breaches the condition of the visa in terms of self employment. Pavore9: I believe if one also works online as a freelancer e.g transcribing, data jobs, content scheduling etc it can add up to one's income unless the UK government has a way of tracking online work. |

Well maybe he didn’t sponsor himself like tuition and living expenses combined. He didn’t disclose that information but I totally get your point too. Everyone got a story to tell[/quote] liliberth: To think he's always saying every one should have everything and be honest. This life sha e get as e be. Wouldn't have thought you worked there to sponsor yourself. Thought everything came from Nigeria. Let’s call a spade a spade please. Which job will pay you “enough” @ 20 hours a week to sponsor yourself completely? Except like I said above, he only sponsored his living expenses from the earnings & not his tuition balance. Or except that job paid x3 of minimum wage in his era. Assuming that he studied years ago when naira was like N200 =£1 , it can be understandable that he paid his tuition before leaving Nigeria & was relying on the 20 hours work for expenses. No one knows for sure what he meant. So we can only “assume” LagosismyHome: Relax ooo. . Some jobs even at 20 hours do pay enough, although rare but possible depending on what line.... also depending on what program
If someone went from BSC to MSC to PHD tracks straight , then it highly unlikely that everything will come from Nigeria |

Must have been paying 30 quid or more per hour to sponsor himself then BouharryArtikou: NO. Justwise only worked 20hours. The job was one of those few that pays handsomely. |

Are you saying you worked more than the allocated 20hours to sponsor yourself? That’s prolly the only way you would have earned more than the tax code. Na question I ask o, I come in peace justwise: You are making unfounded assumptions. You have no idea how much I was earning then to be able to sponsor myself, so stick to facts you know. |

I find it funny when people say “proceed to Phd”. You think phd is beans? Plus phd in the U.K. is not free or easily funded (except Dangote is your father). You have to having an excellent proposal etc before you even think of applying for scholarship. Just choose the Msc that is more beneficial to you & you have more passion for. There’s no need of spending money on two Msc, when you can do one and explore various opportunities. All The Best as your decide Nadheer15: Chai, I'm now superconfused ngl, with this the only progression would have to be in PhD. Now my dilemma is whether to change my course to Msc Advanced Manufacturing and then proceed for PhD Biomedical Engineering afterwards.

Where’s the progression exactly? Why go for Biomedical Engineering when you want to “deal with manufacturing of medical equipment”, when you can just study Advanced Manufacturing? Sorry I’m just confused but maybe the university will understand better Nadheer15: In my case, I think it's kinda of progression. In my case I'm going for Biomedical Engineering, after which I'll proceed to Advanced Manufacturing. This is because I wanna to deal with manufacturing of medical equipment on a large scale |

I am relatively new here.
I am going for MSc Ship and offshore structures (an Engineering course)in the UK. What are my chances of getting a job in the UK after graduation. Also, I have never left the shores of Nigeria. So, I don't have a travel history. Will this count against me during visa application? No, it doesn’t count. Thanks. |

I’m not very sure on what you mean by this. If you’re referring to a loan from a Nigerian company or bank, yes that’s doable. That agreement is between you and the company. If you’re referring to loan from U.K. company or bank, it’s almost impossible to get one. You wouldn’t have enough credit history and you barely find companies that loan to intl students. You cannot also access public funds. Regardless of what the case is, you must show your tuition balance (after deposit payment) + approx £9,200 if outside university is outside London or £11k ish in London. This must be in your personal bank account or parents or legal guardian. You can replace this with a sponsorship letter from an authorised or recognised body. All The Best udi2111: Thanks for the clarification. but I can take a loan after getting to the UK right? |

udi2111: I'm new here. Does anyone know of any university in the UK that doesn't require tuition deposit for a Master's degree program. - No impossible, except you have a scholarship from organisations such as PTDF, Commonwealth, NNPC etc
And lastly can one submit a loan application approval letter to the UK embassy as proof of funds? Why shoot yourself in the leg? No you cannot submit a loan application letter. Straight refusal. |

This is a strategy to make students pay, because they know many international students cannot afford a legal fight (if it goes otherwise or not according to plan) Government has not officially put it into constitution to officialise it. It was only announced. Dundee said “should be” in their own response. You can see from the screenshots, that they’re careful with the choice of words? “Expected”/ “nothing has been agreed”/ “could” etc It’s up one to have option B, Incase things go left. onecoder: Norrhampton uni sent this.
