MRbrownJAY: she wasnt stoopid, she was INSANE, thats two different things. there is nothing stoopid about what she did. . . . . . . . . giving money to a man that was supposedly going to be her future husband isnt stoopid. . . . . . . . but there is definitely something insane about killing yourself over that man (especially as a parent). That was the part I was referring to. Her death would have fallen in line with everything if she had given her soul to the man she loved, but she just gave it to the devil. |

vescucci: Good question. His The Lost Symbol wasn't so great and I think it was 2009. J.K. Rowlings didn't publish any book this year but she was on the list. I'm beginning to think Mr. Brown's last work was over-hyped, plus it's still in hardcover which literally means a good number of people are yet to buy it. |

If this vicious circle is allowed to go full, you'd be amazed at the number and calibre of people that will be indicted. It may even go as far as Bro Joe in Abuja, yes! Gov. Amaechi should step into this quickly, though I fear that even his executive boat will capsize in this sea of accusation and the blackmail that is inevitably imminent. |

Literature › James Patterson Tops Forbes' Highest Paid Authors List by slap1(op): 3:00pm On Aug 31, 2010 |
This week Forbes published their annual list of the highest paid writers. Novelist James Patterson led the pack with $70 million. Next in line was Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer with $40 million, followed by Stephen King with $34 million. Thrillers still earn the most, as the list included Ken Follett, Dean Koontz, and John Grisham. Romance novelists Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks also made the cut, earning $32 million and $14 million respectively. J.K. Rowling closed the list at #10, but did not publish anything in 2010. Readers may recall last year when King criticized Meyer while praising Rowling. King also offered his opinion on several adult writers sharing the highest paid authors list. King called Patterson a "terrible writer" and said "sometimes [Koontz]'s just awful." http://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/authors/james_patterson_tops_forbes_highest_paid_authors_list_172034.asp?c=rss |
Politics › Re: Ogbulafor To Vie For House Of Reps Seat ! by slap1(m): 8:13am On Aug 31, 2010 |
wales: A brother to former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, Chidi, has announced his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat.
Declaring his interest in the palace of his father in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government of Abia, Ogbulafor said that he had consulted widely and had the blessing of his elder brother.
Ogbulafor, a former transition committee chairman in Umuahia South, said that his ambition to contest for the state House of Assembly in Abia was truncated because of his uncle’s interest in the governorship race.
He said, “I am offering myself for the National Assembly position not for personal interest but for quality representation of the constituency and Abia.
“Let me assure all my people that I will not bring shame back to them,” Ogbulafor, who is the Zonal Coordinator of Friends for Democracy for President Goodluck Jonathan, said.
He also advised Governor Theodore Orji to revitalise Aba, the economic hub of the state and urged stakeholders to support the quest to move the state forward.

Politics › Re: Atiku’s Group Vows To Frustrate Jonathan by slap1(m): 7:46am On Aug 31, 2010 |
ferari90: Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s campaign group Turaki Vanguard, at the weekend, in Abuja vowed to do everything to frustrate President Goodluck Jonathan should he decide to contest the 2011 presidential election.
National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Oladimeji Fabiyi, who stated this when he received the Northeast zonal executives of the Turaki Vanguard, added: "We are now very comfortable that President Jonathan being a gentleman will not endanger the peace and unity of our country by respecting not only the principle of zoning as enshrined in the constitution of our great party but will ignore the calls of those that don’t wish him well by not contesting the party primaries knowing the damage such a step will bring on his name, the peace and unity of our dear country."
Fabiyi said it will be "foolhardy and suicidal if he (the President) goes ahead to participate as we know the futility of such an exercise and we will do our best not only to dissuade Mr. President from such a calamitous step in order to save and preserve his integrity as a respected leader of our country but will mobilise all Nigerians to save the nation from an unprepared and unwilling President being lured into power by some selfish leaders who do not know the damage such an act will bring on our dear country."
He said the group would use the same strategy that was used to frustrate the third term ambition of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to save Nigeria once again from a scheme that might endanger its corporate existence should Jonathan run.
Fabiyi assured the Northeast executives that the issue of waiver for Atiku would be resolved this week, saying that should not pose a distraction to the group.
He reiterated the need for active mobilisation of all PDP delegates in various states ahead of the party’s convention to secure Atiku’s candidacy.
He said the Vanguard has been revived for the primary purpose of disseminating what Atiku stands for and represent in terms of ideals, vision, philosophy, commitment to rule of law and entrenchment of democracy as well as join other well-meaning groups to chart a "proper" course for the polity. Firstly, Atiku can not even mobilize the whole Adamawa State. Secondly, where were all these patriotic goons when Yar'Adua, a clearly unprepared man, was forced on the nation? Lastly, let the gaffe go on, Bro Joe can save some money as the northern desperados are campaigning for him. |
