Prof Olagbemiro, VC of Bowen University. Proud of dat man. We see our VC at least twice in a week. He dished out his number 2 any1 dat wants 2 have it and responds promptly 2 any call/text msg. I've cald him on various occassions and he responded n evn asked me and those affected 2 come see him. Once, he dashed my friend some money when she needed it badly. No lecturer dares witch-hunt us or sell us a textbook/handout by force, no lecturer dares molest/harass a female student except he is tired of his/her job. Very open and humble man n dat has by no means made him lesser dan he is. I think VC's should emulate this man.

Ppl r funi oo...all of a sudden, pm news becoms credible news. So many evidences against d story but ppl stl forcing themselves to believe pm news. Pm news n newsleak. Wetin be dat sef? .. I'm sure d website was created exclusively 4dis story. We rly can't go far if we keep wishing our leaders evil. N many ppl commentin don't even stay in ib. Any hogwash z conveniently digested. Because lagos is gradually becomin a mega-city. D home of d rich n mighty where dose who cannot afford cars r not welcome! Sm1 was evn advocatin d ban of danfo drivers...ppl dat don't have cars shd walk or leave Lagos, as long as I have my AirConditioned tokunbo jeep, who cares?...frm ikeja 2 obalende, dey shd walk because in d UK where transportation is perfect, dey walk... Seriously I don't know wat 2 cal u guys, but God's wrath z cumin upon u soon!

I don't understand why ppl won't stop using panadol 4 oda ppl's headache. If dey break dia ankles, its dia business, not urs! And sm1 was sayin heels can cause barreness, I'd reserve my comments on dat one. I don't think I've heard a more daft statement all my life. damn. you make it seem like thats the ONLY thing that they are capable of doing. There are choices chief, they should ply the roads that are not on the list of banned routes. If the money they make from those roads are not enough, Nigeria has 36 states. only a few of them have placed a TOTAL ban on okadas. the masses, the masses, who are the masses chief, i have sat down to chat with about 3 of those bike men from the north (which i must say makes up a large percentage of okada men) that are currently living in agege, 2 of the 3 had 2 wives and a phucking farm. I lived in the north for more than a year, i have seen what these people can do with dry land, they are phucking good, i blame the governors of thier states for not investing in them.

I get ur point...but its one-sided. D masses dat ply d roads okadas were banned on, wat do dey do? I mean places dat buses don't ply and alternatives lyk tricycles weren't provided.e.g ikeja GRA. Awaitin ur response!

@berekete86, wat village in enugu cuz I served in Enugu 2...so many ppl had nice experiences, mine was opposite. I served in one stupid schl in ozzi Edem, nsukka, enugu state. My landlady 4one, a jobless old woman tot I was actin lyk d president's daughter. She made my life miserable, she complained abt everythn. Den she had a son or nephew dat wanted 2 toast a colleague, I found it so insultive...d ppl in d village were mean, no1 sends u if ure a corper or not, any lil brush my colleague gets in2, dey start claimin indigene...havin a motorbike was d in-thing. Evry1 includin females rode okada. Twas so surprising seein females (married ones and cute ladies) ridin bikes, even our teacher colleagues in school. Every1 beefed us, felt we were 2 young. Absolutely no respect 4us.... I'm so happy I finished there peacefully cuz I insulted some ppl and flogged some winchy students. All in all tis an experience I'l never 4get!

Many ppl have refused 2 view d whole situation as a whole. Dey jus pick d part the convenient part and hammer on it. Fashola banned bikes because dey r a menace, fine! Dey have killed many ppl, fyn! I agree but wat alternative has he provided? Wat happens 2 ppl dat don't have cars n wanna go 2 d inner suburbs where buses don't ply? Why do ppl keep sayin major roads, do we have 500 major roads in Lagos? When did all d roads in ikeja GRA become major? Its just common sense but I guess many ppl won't see this cuz they have cars 2 convey dem n rly don't care if it affects d poor.

fashola has my support on this one. the ban is not a total ban. it is just a restriction of okadas from plying certain road and route such as express ways. imagine yourself taking okada from oshodi to apapa or from ikeja to obalende. imagine the risk. people should just learn to use their heads.

And bikes were banned in GRA ikeja. Tell me wats major in those roads? No alternatives provided!

@pro01, uve made so much sense on this thread but its rly unfortunate dat many mobile ones will fail 2 reason wit u cuz dey have cars n its not dia bizness as far as it doesn't affect them and dia immediate family. I stay in ikeja GRA and I've just chosen 2 excuse myself frm lagos 4a while til evrythn is sane...I wudnt evn complain if alternatives lyk d tricycles r provided but nothin at all...I just hope fashola rethinks concernin dis his policy, I've always been a fan of him but dis time arnd, hez overdone it!

Sagytarius: First~of, I never mentioned anywhere that the idea of scrapping-off okada is the ultimate fantastic development. I was only opposing your suggested alternative. I believe that part of the reasons for abolishing okada is to decongest the road, hence, less traffic hold-up. So, if that is the case, the aim of improving traffic-flow will be defeated if keke marwa is introduced. Kapish?

Lol. How on earth wil okadas be banned 2 decongest roads? How does dat work? Without okadas which def helps 2 get 2ur destination early, more ppl dat wil normally take a bike wil drive and dia'l be more traffic congestion. Okadas were banned cuz of dia nuisance and d accidents they cause. I get dat ure tryin 2 smarten ur way thru wat u sed earlier tho but den since u don't support dia replacement with tricycles, wat alternative(s) do u give d okada ridin populace? slyopez: I felt for you peeps in Lagos, i experienced that when Okada was banned in PH 3years ago. Then i use to trek more than 6miles to and fro daily before i will get to my destination. It was a terrible experience then and everybody was complaining but we are all use to it now. Nobody in PH ever wants Okada anymore. Beside that ricketty bikes always make the city look shabby.

I'm sure u don't trek miles anymore, cuz alternatives have been provided!

1. I did not say her comments were paraphrased, I said 'isn't DIA grammar corrected n paraphrased'?? I was talking generally abt interviewees. Some comments r paraphrased, some r corrected, some r both paraphrased and corrected. It all depends so u should learn to read well.
2. Whether her comments were in quotation marks or not, journalists/proofreaders wil never write bad grammar in their newspapers, if they have to, then a (sic) is put in front of d blunder. That's why I buttressed my point wit interviews wit marketmen, mechanics and co. Do dey speak flawless english? NO. R dere 'sic's in front of their blunders? No, dats evn laughable cuz I can't imagine how many sics u'l see. So wats my point? Whether paraphrased or in quote, d grl's account was corrected by the journalist that got the story from her.
