Thanks for the clarification Akannitommy: NO. Once the student arrive or received their PR Visa, they can send email notifying the admission office of the change in resident status. Certain documents (including landing papers) would be requested. Once these are verified, the student will seize to be classified as an international student. |

Hello house, if a student who got admission before creating an EE profile later immigrated to Canada through the EE route still decides to continue with the education will such a student still be classified as an international student? |

thanks for the clarification JustMellow: Hello Sleekcheek,
Situation varies. For undergraduate study and depending on the situation, the WAEC certificate is relevant. NYSC may also be relevant to explain gap(s) as a fresh-graduate visa applicant.
Sorry, I have to talk about the aforesaid as I think it may help someone. In your case, the WAEC isn't necessary neither is your NYSC. No harm including them also.

Congrats to everyone recovering PPR, I hope to testify here in the coming weeks. Please is it compulsory for one to attach WAEC cert and NYSC cert as supporting documents for visa application for a graduate program? |

@Lanrelala This is really great news, I tap into this. Please can you share the documents you submitted? Also what was the reason for your previous rejection and how did you address it? Lanrelala: Hello house, please is there anyone who applied after September 15th for January 2021 intake and has AIP?
2nd time applicant: I applied September 21 Medical Request September 23 Medical passed: October 6
No AIP. With the new IRCC trend, is this a good sign? |

Hi Just Mellow, I can have my dad send the money to me instead. If my dad sends the sum of 4m to me does it mean it is a cosponsored application? For the letter of support do you mean a sworn affidavit of support or just a letter from my dad explaining his reason for supporting me? Also do I need to get my dad's bank account statement or will the letter of support suffice. JustMellow: Hello Sleekcheek,
I am referring to the reference letter that should evidently backed the authenticity of the liquidation to the specified (or specific) account that will be used for the visa application.
I think the funds coming from either your parent holds stronger weight except there is a reason why this can't be possible. Then include a letter of support with well-structured contents.
If your sister still remains the most suitable person to make the transfer to you, the funds could come as a share from a sold inherited property, loan/debt repayment or run your account with the 4m over a period of 3 - 6months by maintaining the minimum or slightly above cash inflow that is normally received. On each occasion, different names can be used as the depositor. If you're opting for the first two options, endeavour to get a document and letter as evident proof.

@JustMellow please what do you mean by *get a letter to support the inflow of the liquidated cash into your personal account*. I also intend liquidating my mutual funds investment and also transferring a lump sum of 4m from my personal savings account (sent to me by my sister) to my salary account. How do I prove the source of these funds? (I am applying as a self sponsor but I am using the money from my sister to increase my account statement) JustMellow: Hello Jamesobedbaisel,
In your next application, do as the VO as stated in the notes by including a sworn affidavit, Consent or Undertaking from your parents for such sponsorship intent, Letter of Sponsorship (properly highlighting why such intent and the prospect benefit). Also declare the number of dependents he currently have.
It may be in your best interest if you liquidate the fxd into your account and get a letter to support the inflow of the liquidated cash into your personal account. Do well to also demonstrate how you intend to meet the cost of your expensive education.
In this vein, what were the roles of your parents and is there any specific reason why they can't stand as either the sponsor while your cousin a cosponsor? You have to bring them into the picture so you can be able to demonstrate that without your cousin's funds, you are not financially incapacitated as there is a reliable source of funds belonging to your parents and you.

This is very helpful, thanks a lot Naijaforeigner: How can you prove ties to your home country? family of 6? are you the first born? Use your family as one of the reasons you will come back. Think of something that will make you come back to your family.
Study plan: What is your long and short term plan? short term plan post graduation of proposed program of choice in Canada What are you going to study in Canada?
Can you present place of work give you a study leave and then use that as well? What is your present position in your company, on completion of your studies in Canada, what position will you be able to apply for in your company or another? possible salary increment?
Can you prove that on completion of your MSc or PGD in Canada, a higher role will be given to you or a better offer? This will explain or justify why you want to spend such amount on your program in Canada and not Nigeria. Please be specific when giving these details
Long term plan? Do you want to do a business in your home country? Are there any gaps in Nigeria you plan to fill by studying that course? If yes, be specific on how studying in Canada will help in actualizing this ambition.

Are we saying those that got rejected did not submit with faith or did not back it up with prayers? The point is let’s leave this forum for information and practical responses and leave the religion part for our religious groups. Besides a denial can also be God’s way of saying not yet or not for you Dame24: There’s no how we can’t attribute most of the successes to God. I applied on 10th of September Biometrics letter: 11th September Medical request: 18th September AIP: 19th September
I applied for a diploma totally not related to my previous course. I uploaded: SOP Sponsor’s SOA (about 6.8m) Sponsor’s properties documents Sponsor’s letter Bank reference letter School statement of result (as certificate is not ready yet) Transcript NYSC certificate IELTS result Sponsor’s passport Receipt of admission confirmation fee ($500) Police character Submitted with faith.
And glory be to God I’ve been getting positive vibes so far. |

Kindly advise on the reason for failed eligibility as seen on GCMS notes (Profile looks quite solid). Did you apply with family? Also I read somewhere that using mutual fund bank statement is not advisable as it is better to redeem the funds and show all in bank statement (do not know how true this is) Oghogho1313: You are quite correct. To provide a bit of context. I applied in May and the elligibiity review was done a month later in June. So, from June to September no update reflected online via the ircc portal besides biometric done in August and medicals(Upfront) done in August. I hope they still give out approvals to everyone still waiting for approvals in the gcms notes. I am only saying its quite likely it might not be the case.
Timeline
Applied on 15th May Biometric letter 16th May Upfront medical 1st August Send webform to update on deferment from Fall to Winter semester due to processing delays August Biometric enrolment 24th August (Updated same day online) Medical passed 27th August (after sending same via webform and email some weeks earlier) Requested gcms notes on 1st September received gcms notes on 23rd September (note that eligibility failed as at 10th June as that was when the entry was made in the gcms notes)

I just sent a webform trying to tackle most of their concerns. If it does not fly I will repackage my application by getting more funds, stronger SOP, promotion letter from company. For family ties I am not married and have no kids so I will work on proving how close I am to my siblings and my dad. Thanks a lot for your comment Lekiboboe: From my own point of view,
Relating the text in your GCM note to your Profile
- You did stated "no landed properties", But You seem not to show any Hometies here ,most especially Family Ties - your Parents (Marriage certificate if any or their Birth Certificate , Sibling's (birth certificate) and/or if you are married.
- Did you also give future job prospects and organization you might likely work in Nigeria in your SOP
- The Economic Ties I feel they discovered you didn't carry your workplace along with your application, cos no study leave letter, and that didn't even corroborate the explanation of that sentence which you said "i was about to be promoted to HR" in your cover letter. It might look not genuine to the VISA Officer.
And it would have suffice if it was your workplace that wrote that letter which you stated you were about to be promoted.
- POF 5.5 million looks too exact for a Proof Of Funds,
Cos calculating your tuition of CAD to Naira Its around 2.8 Million Naira
Living Expenses of - that's like 2.9 million
Which is altogether around 5.9 million Naira, approximately 6 Million Naira |

@lekiboboe, @frankrobin please I will appreciate your input on this sleekcheek: I just got my gcms notes (applied on the 25th of August. To be honest I expected this result while still hoping for the best. I have already deferred my admission to winter 2021 and I intend to repackage my application and reapply.
My question is there is a part where the wrote *do not finalize until biometrics is completed or a new letter is sent when VACs reopen* What letter are they referring to? Does this mean I still have hope of saving this application or should I just wait till they finalize and reapply again?
Thank you all for your anticipated assistance |

Thank you very much, I will do so Anon123: At this point, no final decision has been taken on this application meaning you might still have a slim chance of saving the application. Seeing the vos comments, why no draft a letter defending all he has said while pointing his to evidence showing why he is wrong .If I were you I would try even though the chances are slim but its still a chance.

How much was in the account statement submitted? Foski01: Hi Gurus.. I hail o.
So i got my gcms note today and apparently have failed the eligibility stage.
Attached is a snap shot.
1) what if I move the funds from my inlaws account to mine. Will it help?
2) I applied for a PGD because I got a 2.2, why does the VO think that this is not a career progression? Will explaining to the VO in my next application that the PGD is a prerequisite to ultimately studying a masters suffice for career progression?
4) How soon can I reapply? Note: my application page is yet to be updated |

Good morning house, I must say this thread has been most useful and informative. Kudos to everyone sharing genuine and useful tips. I applied for my study permit since May 1st and I am yet to get any AIP or medical request (my admission is for fall). To be honest I am not feeling so confident about my application and after going through all the tips shared here I now know I could have done more to package my application before submitting. I have booked for my biometrics collection for next week and now I want to consider deferring my admission to winter 2021 while I take more time to repackage my next application if need be.
The question is since my application is still in process do I need to send my new admission letter for winter 2021 to ICCC via webform? If my study permit application turns out to be positive will my deferral to winter 2021 have any negative impact?
Please Gurus I will appreciate your assistance on this. Many thanks |
