Visit another branch or the headquarters preferably chykemumen: Pls guys, I need help making payment to Conestoga college. I have a deadline to meet and I already have the payment instructions from Western Union global business payment but the banks are telling me stories about not making payment to 3rd parties other than the school's direct account. |

My counterfoil just dropped, but I am seeing that it is valid for one year. Does it mean I was given one year visa? If that’s the case can I renew the visa in Canada if I am not done with my school after one year? |

Congrats on your application. It is advisable to pay your fees before you travel and have a copy of your tuition receipt. An enrollment letter is necessary as we have seen situations where people were refused access to their flight because of this, some school only gives you enrollment letter after you have registered for classes/paid tuition. For the POF I will leave that to the gurus to assist you with that. Laraba083: Hello, I’ve been a silent reader here.
I got admission to University of Manitoba early last year for Fall 2020, that was April 2020. I applied for a second degree program. I was doing all the application innocently cos that was my first application. I was just doing things the way I thought it was done didn’t follow any steps or guideline, only what IRCC stated on their website. I think that kinda affected my application cos I submitted very late, anyway, I started the process late July and I submitted late September. I discovered this group late last year when I got NSE request.
I used my Uncle, mum’s brother as sponsor, I submitted just what I was asked, no extra. Though I added some certifications I had like entrepreneurial skills and professional courses, then SOP that was a final last minute addition. My uncle only submitted a letter of introduction stating who he was and a letter of Sponsorship then his SOA. So at a point I was so scared that I didn’t submit enough documents but I’m thankful for where I am at this point.
My Application Timeline goes thus,
- Applied : 24 September, 2020 - Biometrics Request: 25 September, 2020 - Biometrics done : 27 October, 2020 in Lagos - Got NSE Request: 12 November, 2020 - NSE submitted: 10 December, 2020 -Medical request: 09 February, 2021 -Medicals done: 10 March, 2021 -Medicals Passed: 18 March, 2021 -PPR and BVL( Dropped around 5:30am or so, saw it when I woke up for Subhi): 23 March, 2021 submitted same day using Dhl, I sent it to Abuja and paid for two way courier. Vfs got it the next day and sent it to IRCC immediately. Counterfoil: 25 March, 2021 Passport was ready for pickup the same day, had to start calling Dhl again LOI: 26 March, 2021 Dhl picked up on the same day, Friday Got my passport on Monday, yesterday, 29th of March, 2021.
I’m really just grateful for the whole thing cos at a point I gave up and just continued with my life. But God did it for me after several fasting and prayers, Alhamdulillah. My last resumption date is May 3, 2021 and I’m hoping to travel before then. Though I have some questions.
Cos the way U of M is that you only pay for the courses you registered for, so do I have to pay tuition fee before I travel? And do I need an enrollment letter before I can travel. Also the SOA, showing proof of funds, should it be mine or my sponsors?
I need to know the exact documents I need to show at the airport here in Nigeria and also at the POE. Cos I really still don’t understand how the whole thing works.
Thank you
For everyone still hoping for their good news, I wish you all the best. |

Very clear as always, thanks so much Awys. @Rootiab take note awys: You can book it from Nigeria directly using the MULTICITY OPTIONS on the airline website or if you using a travel agent you can explain to them they know how to do it like for example if your POE is TORONTO book to Toronto then leave 3nights then select from TORONTO to your final destination I hope am clear with this explanation |

Please for those that have booked a flight since the 3 days hotel quarantine started did you book a direct flight to your final destination from Nigeria or did you book to your port of entry? If one is to book a flight from Nigeria to the port of entry can we also book the connecting flight to our final destination from Nigeria or are we to wait till we get to Canada and receive the negative covid result before booking the connecting flight?
I hope my question is clear |

Second Application Timeline (Long Post Alert!!!) Application submitted - Nov 5th NSE request - Dec 8th NSE documents review - Dec 29th Upfront medicals passed - Dec 30th Main eligibilty review - Jan 12th First gcms notes received – Feb 11th (Eligibility: blank) Second gcms notes received – Mar 18th (Eligibility: recommend interview) PPR – Mar 26th
Documents Submitted All IMM forms LOE (drafted it myself then had a friend of mine who is a lawyer review it, I combined both my SOP and LOE addressing the reasons for my previous refusal) Employment letter/Confirmation letter/Promotion letter Payslips Introduction letter from employer Reference Letter from my direct boss (which I used during my school admission) Letter of support from my Dad (Saying he transferred the sum of 4million to me for my living expense, I did not include any gift deed/affidavit of support just the letter which he signed) Dad’s NIN slip Declaration of Age/Birth Cert for myself and my siblings Police clearance certificate Bank Statement (no too much money, showed my full tuition plus a little above 10000 cad) Pension account statement Bsc Certificate HR Professional Certification Resume WAEC Certificate NYSC Certificate Undergraduate Transcript Proficiency in English Language Family Pictures Affidavit for Loss of Death Certificate (my mum is late, used it as a family tie saying me and my siblings need each other for moral support hence I will return home after my studies) Certificate of Occupancy of my family house IELTS result (NSE request) Printed copy of my bank statement/Reference letter from my Bank (My Bank was not on MyBankStatement platform)
Reasons for First Refusal & How I Tackled It Purpose of visit- My first degree was in Geography & Environmental Management, I applied to Memorial for masters in Employment Relations. As at the time when I first applied in May 2020, I was yet to get my results for my HR professional exams, but I mentioned it in my SOP. Also, I was still working as an executive assistant in my current organization although I was supporting HR department but have not officially moved to HR. During my second application, I added my CIPM certificates, also included an introduction letter from my company which stated that I was now in HR department. My reference letter from my previous boss also highlighted how I have a natural flair for HR and how he recommended my move to HR. Personal assets & financial status- During my first application, I used both my mutual funds and my bank statement. In my second application, I liquidated my mutual funds and made sure I explained every lump sum with adequate proof. Also added a letter of support from my Dad to increase my POF. Ties to home country- I used my family as my ties, talked a lot about how close we are and how we support each other. I also used my pension statement and my new role in HR as my tie and talked about how I will like to come back to Nigeria and change a lot of things in my organization and in the country when it comes to employee development and retention.
Hope this helps

My deadline to defer was in the first week of Feb but I chose not to defer because September was too far. It was a risk as the alternative is to withdraw from the prog and apply again but I held on to my fate and took the decision. I am currently in my first semester of study and hopefully will be in Canada by May when the second semester begins Benquip: I just go a mail from my school that they have extended the deadline to April 9. I pray and hope I gets response before then |

Thanks for your response, first bank is claiming that they can only send to the school’s bank directly and the school uses a third party to receive its payment. I intend going to their headquarters next week and if that doesn’t work I will try another bank ILoveDLord: And, Yes the form A, too works. I once used it with First Bank. First Bank should tell you what information they need from the school, so you can provide them. |

Someone in Canada will still use black market exchange rate, I can as well use my dorm account from here to pay but I trying to get the CBN rate via form A. Thanks though, if no other way will fund my dorm acc via black market IboBoyNuel: Maybe try other banks. If it's possible to look for someone in Canada to pay it for you, that's a lot better. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by sleekcheek: 10:41am On Mar 24, 2021 |
Hello, I tried making payment with first bank using the invoice from western union global pay (my school uses this option for wire transfer) but I was told first bank can only do form A for fees payment directly to the school itself and not through a third party. Do you know anyone who has successfully used this method to do form A payment with a Nigerian bank? ILoveDLord: Western Union Global Pay may be the cheaper. It takes about 3 business days to process. You will need to fill the application on their site and download the payment invoice. You then take it to your bank with evidence of admission, international passport, your first degree/diploma. The bank will direct you on what to do.
Credit Card/ Debit Card is faster., BUt there is service charge for credit cards. It is easier if you have someone in Canada do the payment on your behalf. If you have someone in Canada, they can even do it through internet/online banking without service charge. Depending on who you are dealing with, the exchange rate and trustworthiness are the concerns. You can also try using your GTB or other bank master/visa debit card. It may work.
The CIBC option, I think is if you have a Canadian Bank account with CIBC.( CIBC is a Canadian Bank).
Finally it is up to you to decide. All the best |
