if you have an immediate relative in the USA, you wont get a non-immigrant visa.
VO here will tell you it is still possible to get it but NO, they will waste your cash and time.

My situation:

My parent filed a US petition for me in 2013 and it normally takes many years before approval. Also, my parents and all my siblings are in the US. I applied for the US visa for my sister's MBA graduation in 2014 but was denied. I now want to go to the US to witness the birth of my first child and also support my wife in the delivery process.

I am guessing they would ask me why I have a petition filed for me.... Truly.... I do not know the best response to give in order not to show that I might go and not come back (as wife would also be going).

Please house help!

i hate to be negative but based on the fact that you stated on your application that you have an immediate relative in the US.

you have a 99% chance of not going home with a visa, LGS is one of the strictest embassies.
please quote me when you get interviewed

i seriously doubt this because naturalization is handled by a very different department entirely, i.e department of homeland security

The visa bulletin we watch here is from department of state

Visajourney gets their predictions from people who update their profile with interview dates they get from NVC, even when they are not yet current.
so if someone who has 4 months to become current based on bulletin gets interview date set 2 months away
you can be sure that next months movement will be roughly 2 month, then the next, another 2 months movement.
this has to be because you wont be interviewed unless you are current.

Each browser opens a web page differently. Either in a mobile or desktop format and also minimized or maximized way. Take for example m.facebook.com it opens differently on chrome and opera and many other site also. Opera by default saves data and compress a site while chrome doesn't. Ucweb depending on your preferences will either reduce the size or max it out for you. So if a site is 10mb on a default (desktop version), opera can reduce it to like 3-5mb and same with ucweb but not on chrome

whether you get a mobile optimized version, desktop version or a complete redirection to a mobile site of the same resource is totally dependent on how the website developer/company coded their web page.

Yahoo, facebook, twitter etc has a lot of developer power to implement mobile versions for their regular webpages,
a startup may decide to go with responsive pages (responsive pages are pages that adapt based on screen resolution of target devices)
a newbie like your lazy a55 may just put up a copied web page customized in microsoft frontpage, then glory in it without worrying about when it displays like messed up watermelon on mobile phones.

now with the 3 comparisons, your browser takes data and just displays it, when tech people say browsers are faster, they refer to the speed at which it renders downloaded content, manages downloaded content without eating RAM
but your claim in the bolded only further confirms my view that you are nothing but an illiterate

That browser is bad news on Mobile. its doesn't actually close, consumes RAM like no mans business and lemme not get started on the data it consumes...even while browsing Facebook. Data Savings mode my foot.

I've got 31 tabs on OperaMini and RAM usage doesn't pass 35MB. You can quit the browser and it shuts down fully.

With Chrome, just 6 tabs is 39MB gone. No option to close the browser so its either you relegate it to background or u force close. Restart phone and its one of the first things to boot up.

if you have 31 tabs, what happens at the background is browsers save those data temporarily on physical storage rather than RAM, then loads them to RAM as needed. Every mobile based browser does this, infact it is one of the basic workflow of a mobile app developer.

it is simple logic.

if tab>5, start saving on disk
if tab<=5, rely only on RAM.


when you quit a browser, it shuts down, including chrome.

Incase you don't know, when you request contents from a webpage on mobile, you send along some headers which include specifying the type of compression you support as a browser.
the server tries to send content back to you in that compressed state if it supports it
browsers dont really save MB.

the only mobile platform that has ever done this is the blackberry, they re-route stuff to their servers, their servers compress it and send to their phone, their phone then decompresses it and renders it to the end user.

if a page weighs 10MB, whether you open it in chrome or mozilla or opera,
it will cost you 10MB

you may be able to tell your browser to NOT display images thereby saving data and reducing the quality of content that reaches you.

Do you have any idea how long the whole NVC process will take from payment, application till interview?

depending on how quick you respond.
when you send your documents in, it takes roughly 3 weeks to 1 month to get update

your category will move drastically in the coming months.

On the June 2016 visa bulletin my PD falls below the cut off date on the Dates for filing Application chart. i.e PD is Aug. 2015/ Date of filing Application moved to Oct. 2015.

Questions:
Firstly, does it mean i will be contacted by NVC in June to begin my application process even without my PD being current yet?

Secondly, how long does the process till interview take?

get the petitioner to get your case number (the number starting with either WAC, LIN, SRC, EAC, etc depending on center he filed your case)
go to https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do
type in the case number and check the status of your case. if you get "my case was approved"
then your case should now be with DOS

Once your case is with the department of state's NVC
you/petitioner should get a new number LGS200XXXXXXX
LGS=lagos embassy, so your case info will be available on https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

it is only when your case is with NVC that you can expect an email from NVC based on the published date of filling
you should set your email address with NVC using form Ds-261 on that page


if your case is still being processed by USCIS, you need to call USCIS to ask why, they are actually very nice people and can speed up your case

It does not disqualify you definitely, unfortunately COs are trained to assume everyone who applies for NIV intends to immigrate unless they are able to prove the aren't

how do you prove? By showing ties such as marriage, kids in nigeria, well paying job in nigeria, properties etc. off all these, mariage and kids hold the highest weight as jobs can be abandoned and properties sold. you, especially a woman, will not ditch your kids so your chances are pretty high.

unfortunately, having an immediate relative in the US is more than enough reason for a CO to deny anyone, first you just have to pray you meet a CO with an attitude like our old visaofficer
,you must able to convince him/her at your first shot and then pray she likes your makeup.


if i were you, i will give a year break then re-apply, i will leave my son behind and tell the CO when he/she asks why do you want to go to the usa

My sister has told me a lot about the US and i will love to visit and have her take me around. i have a son here with my husband to return to with a well paying job.

a sister is an immediate relative who can actually file an immigrant visa for you.
since she sent you an invite, this implies she is either a LPR or citizen

These guys don't take things lightly like we do here, if you are applying for a non-immigrant visa, you must be eligible for it.
you are not eligible for non-immigrant visa, i am sure you got 214b on the blue paper

you are actually eligible for immigrant visa, if your sister petitions for you, it will take 13years to get a visa.
if you try to re-apply with the hope of claiming you no longer have a sister there, they have your fingerprints which will bring up your old application, COs are always nice to show you your old picture if you want.
That is considered immigration fraud and misrepresentation. you will be ineligible for both non immigrant and immigrant visas then


your only way out?
get your sister to file for you or try non-immigrant again but never deny that you have a sister, never.
even when you arrive at POE, you may be denied entry and deported.
