TravelRe: Does Student Traveling To USA Need Only Oneway Ticket by slightlyMad(f): 9:41am On Jun 14, 2016
that is not true, you can buy oneway on f1 student visa

2way is for non-immigrants on b1/b2 visas as they will be sent back since that showed they have immigrant intent to CBP
their trip back home is on the airline that brought them.
i believe but not sure, it is a form of agreement signed with these airlines that they have to return people turned back at POE
in order to avoid this business risk, the airlines do their due diligence

Hello All,

Please I need advice on how to go about my interview. Am a 24year old single lady. I applied for a B1/B2 visa last year June (my brother in law invited me) and was rejected on the basis of no strong ties I filled myself as my sponsor, I was earning 120k as at that time. This time around I filled my dad as my sponsor, my monthly income as 250k (it has truly increased) and I also indicated I was gonna be traveling with him in my DS-160 application. I have never travelled before. What do you advice?? Should I go with an engagement ring?
no, engagement is not a strong enough tie.
you need to calm down, take time, get married first, and maybe have a child, then apply again

your salary and job is always a weak tie, a marriage with kids is even a stronger tie than one without kids, not to talk of a ring you can throw back at him once he upsets you.

Don't lie that you are married when you are not, it never ends well.

Now your prediction is coming like that of a native doctor hey lol but i agree.
Anyways, i called NVC and was told should get my letter to proceed with visa process in less than 2weeks so will be focusing on the application process to case complete for now. This should keep me off the VB till case complete.

OR what do you think?
Scroll down on the bulletin page to see next month's predictions, the prediction is reasonably accurate because it is 2months away from the fiscal year and they know how many visas the have left.

You are current on the date for filling,
Your petitioner will get an email in july to pay 120$ AOS fee

At that stage, I believe you will be able to access your ceac portal.

Get the lgs20xxxxx number, invoice ID and log in on CEAC to set the ds-261 choice of agent form to yourself. Don't worry, that won't bar the petitioner from still getting emails

Forget the movement, you are months away from getting your visa, not up to a year

I want to thank everyone on this thread and also on the "Give Birth in the US" thread. You guys have been fantastic. I had my interview this morning scheduled for 9am . The queue was not as long as it usually is. My interview was very brief and straight to the point (about 3 mins). The VO refused the two people before me .

In the spirit of giving back and clarification of different notions, here is my transcript:

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: To witness the birth of my child and vacation with family
VO: Oh! Your baby - Congratulations
Me: Thanks, a baby XXXXX to be precise.
VO: Nice - Congratulations
VO: Is your wife already in the US?
Me: No. She would travel on the XX of XX (hands over a copy of DW Visa)
VO: Looks through the Visa and hands it back to me.
VO: You are going to Houston right?
Me: Yes
VO: What do you do sir?
Me: Work with Bleep as an XX (explained my functions in the office)
VO: How long have you been working in your office?
Me: XX years and XX months
VO: Okay. All your information looks good. ( then types for like 30 seconds)
VO: Hands me the white paper and circles where to collect the Visa. Then he says we should ensure we pay all our bills, collect zero balance payment and ensure we do not collect any form of insurance.
VO: Congratulations on your baby once again and enjoy your trip.
Me: Thank you and have a nice day.

P.S - The VO did not talk about my refusal in 2014, my bank statement, my ties to Nigeria or my pending immigrant petition. He was God sent! I give all the glory to God!

Nupital
Congrats sweetie
And this puts my rants to rest as someone has just proven to us all that it is indeed possible to get a B1/B2 visa even when you have an immediate relative in the US.

based on the 2 cases, Nupital and tmeeto, we can confirm what the VO once said on the Non-immigrant thread that your answer to the first most important question goes a long way as it is usually your chance to convince the CO

I think the ice breaker was the fact that the CO values that special moment and will not like to deny the family that chance to be together while the little one arrives.

Me: To witness the birth of my child and vacation with family
VO: Oh! Your baby - Congratulations

stop showing ignorance publicly. I have a blood sister (American Citizen) living in US, and i was granted visit visa last month! do not say wrong statement here that ll push people to lie in their applications that ll give them serious dents in their future dealings with the American embassy.
please don't take this personal as i can handle your bad mouth if in the mood.

besides, no one will push anyone to commit crime, the current economic hardship will not push people to commit a crime
if they choose to commit a crime, then it's in them.

My passport expires Jan 2017. I am about to make payment for my Visa fee however I read online that the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after entry into the US. The proposed month of entry is August. Please advise
renew your passport before making the payment.
when you arrive port of entry, you will likely get 6month stamp
so in six months, your passport will expire and you can't enter Nigeria on an expired passport

nope, they dont even look at the invitation letter that we beg our relatives abroad to send as if it helps in any way, so couldnt have said "people being invited"
what i said is IF you have a pending immigrant petition, you WILL not get it

slightlyMad:

if you have an immediate relative in the USA, you wont get a non-immigrant visa.
VO here will tell you it is still possible to get it but NO, they will waste your cash and time.
post your interview transcript here when you have it and pls quote me
if you have a pending immigrant petition, then you have an immediate relative in the US.
only people with immediate relatives can get petitioned (employment too, but thats irrelevant cos it is always current or almost current.).

@kennycanny, Ambode's wife will use A1 visa

unfortunately i wrongly assumed people here will just get it that i was not referring to some few exceptions like your Ambode's wife, people referred by US chamber of commerce, wole soyinka and others who obviously dont have problem getting visas.
i forgot to spell it out.

And the effect of having played the Visa lottery previously (hopefully you understand such to mean another direct way to say "i intend migrating if the opportunity shows up!"wink? They do get visas like i said earlier ma. Be reminded that your main argument was much more about people being invited by their immediate family members not EVER being granted NIVs
nope, they dont even look at the invitation letter that we beg our relatives abroad to send as if it helps in any way, so couldnt have said "people being invited"
what i said is IF you have a pending immigrant petition, you WILL not get it

on second thought, based on comments (thanks to those who painted me black while i was on exile), i stylishly withdrew my stance on the word "will"

That could most likely cause the denial. But having said that, some people still get granted despite their immigration pending application! They just need to show a higher ties to Nigeria.
Please what higher tie do you need to show when they have clearly shown that they intend to migrate via their petition?
your ties becomes weak since you plan to leave these ties anyways as proven by submitting a petition

remember that once someone with a pending petition enters the US, they can just work illegally and adjust status when their PD becomes current, a smart way to outsmart immigration law and an abuse of the visit visa.

Tmeeto has confirmed this and nupital will in a few days.
There may be exceptions though, if you have an history of using previous visas rightly, i will guess you may get it because you have a good reputation already
I am glad Tmeeto saw the good side of it all.

Meh, you don't have to take the VO's word for it. I think you can see plainly that many Nigerians with family in the US are granted visas. But if if you want to take this advice and lie to the VOs, understand that this is why you are getting refused and not because you haven't fasted or prayed enough.
respectfully sir, this is the main issue i have with the way Nigerians are perceived by VOs
There is no reason to lie, no reason.

YES! Majority of Nigerian are eager and desperate to see America.
some here say VOs can see the desperation, oh please! we are desperate, even when we act cool. doubt it, see their reactions when they step outside the embassy building.
it is america we are talking about not ghana.

mehn! take pictures, see how things work there, put on location service showing you are somewhere in NY, USA and those peeps who think USA is just for them can see that God pass them, come back home and be able to say America? i have been there, done that.

for those assuming this is about me, Nope
i actually offer advises to people who want to travel to USA, I do this for free and i get lots of referrals these days because of the high success rate,
I don't fill forms for them, i dont recommend they fill false information as i tell them how terribly this can affect their visa journeys,
i predict their chances of getting a visa based on what i know about them.
and most times, they thank me for it when they get it or even get denied.
I DONT charge for it.

Wicked tactics? It's survival of the fittest, dear.

If she was actually hoping to stoke on the strife existing between her hubby and Pero then I'd say she was only acting out of motherly instinct which prioritizes securing the future of a woman's child/children over anything or anybody in the world.

I actually find my conceptualized version of what her ulterior motives are to be more believable than the fact that she actually cares for the "children of her hubby's baby-mama".

For this Nigeria? shocked How many Naija women, no matter how much they love their hubbies would be so solicitous concerning the welfare of their husband's 'bastard child'. It rings a bit Pollyannish don't you think?.
This is Nigeria and Africa, not Hollywood. grin

Backfire how?.
when i stated up there that she is more guilty of carrying the other wife vs 2face's issue on her head
you said i was making excuses.

you are here on same page wondering what her ulterior motive is.
i will bail you out again.

it is publicity stunts, and she knows citizens like you will marvel at how sweet her heart is

"Shout out the separated parents/Ex who don't stress the other 'parent' over seeing their own child".

So the sentence in quote up there suggests that 2-face's baby-mama is not proving a tough nut to crack over 2-face seeing his child?.

Y
since you are a one-way traffic kind of soul

let me rephrase that for you.

shout out to the other girl who dont hinder 2face from seeing his kid

and

shout out to the other girl who dont keep calling 2face to come see his kids

If you had painstakingly given the thread a thorough going-over, you would have deduced that Annie was censuring Pero because she prevented 2-face from seeing his kids and worse, for using them as a bargaining counter as slightly hinted by Annie.

To put it in a nutshell, 2-face actually wants to be around for them but their mother is making it impossible.

Why do you lot intake data in a parrot-fashion without bothering to fully absorb it in-depth before hastily getting a word in edgewise?.
she said "over seeing their own kids"

this could mean, the other wife wants 2face to see her kid
it could also mean, the other wife does not want 2face to see his kid

am i at fault that she posted a badly composed text on the internet?
if it is the latter, then she is more guilty of carrying the other wife vs 2face's issue on her head
she is interfering and insinuating that the other wife is a bad mother, a post that could start a lifetime beef between both sides.

now i wonder why it is your business which of the 2 possible post i chose to parrotize

my aunt got visa on her virgin passport last year. And she has two brothers in the US
congrats to her
my experience, a colleague of mine who earns over 300k monthly, married with kids here in nigeria, who has an LPR brother (LPRs can't even petition for siblings o) was told he has a strong tie to the US and should work with his relation in the US to get immigrant visa.

Please how can a sibling tie be stronger than a spousal tie

I also have a cousin who got rejected twice for f1 student visa, she was told on both occasions to go for immigrant visa instead
simply because she has a US citizen brother.

i won't say you lied because i cant tell her circumstances, age, travel history etc
but i have heard many denied on this that i think it is just a waste of cash and time
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by slightlyMad(f): 9:56pm On May 30, 2016
iRyan:
that is so untrue! People get visas in spite of having an immediate relative living in the US. A lot of my family members have. If the VO is convinced with her ties and sees her as a genuine and honest applicant I don't see why not?
immediate relatives are brothers, sisters, father, mother who are permanent residents or citizens.
if you fill them on the ds-160, you wont.
maybe they have gotten it in the past and used it well, they may get it again on account of the integrity they have built
but apply now in 2016
To them, your immediate relative could file and once approved, you could adjust status, forget ties.
i wont argue much on this, wait for those 2 applicants i quoted
