Olajydeey:What gives you the impression we're even resuming this year seff? I want us to resume ASAP sha. Abeg for those who are saying we should forget about school and go hustle, see eh, that degree is important and these old men weren't denied of having theirs, so if you think hustling now is the best thing for you, I wish you all the best sha, we move! |

The fault is not the students' nor the landlords', a mutual ground should be reached by both sides. If it's possible for students to pay another 1/4 of their rents again, I think it would put to bed the obvious 'war' waiting when schools are eventually reopened. |

A former Aviation Minister and foremost Chieftain of the
main opposition party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has on Sunday blasted
the former governor of Lagos state and the current National
leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over comments on
the Lekki shootings.
Reacting to a statement credited to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,
where he said, “Casualties of Lekki shootings have
questions to answer.” Fani-Kayode noted that the response
of the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu to Lekki
killings is attempting to blame the protesters for their own
deaths and for being blown apart by callous men in Military
fatigue.
Fani-Kayode stated that sadly instead of exhibiting any
remorse or displaying any regret for the abominable atrocity,
with a smile and jocular tone, the APC national leader
reportedly said nothing other than I am “still the Asiwaju of
Lagos and the Jagaban”
In a short essay made available to VANGUARD, Fani
Kayode said he would not be cowed and mesmerised to
speak the truth even if everyone has decided no keep quiet.
Fani-Kayode said, “Even if the whole country is cowed and
mesmerised by Tinubu and applauds his callousness, vanity,
subterfuge, deceit, ruthlessness, obsessive ambitions, lack
of fear of God and doublespeak I FFK, the Voice of the
Voiceless, the Servant of Truth, the Lover of God, the
Beloved of the Lord, the Otunba of Jogaland, the Sadaukin
Shinkafi, the Odum Agu and the Odugwu Eze will not.
“His spell cannot silence, bind or blind me as it has done to
others. I see him for what he is and his vain and boastful
words here (Tinubu’s reaction to Lekki killings) have
confirmed it. To think I once loved and admired you gives
me sleepless nights and goose pimples. How could I have
been so blind?”
Fani-Kayode citing previous incidents, recalled reactions
that trailed Pa Fasoranti’s daughter’s death when she was
shot dead by alleged herdsmen.
“When Baba Fasoranti’s daughter was murdered by Fulani
herdsmen he reportedly made a mockery of it, went to his
house and asked: “where are the cows?”
“This was insensitive, callous and painful and all the more
so because when the murderers of this much-loved and
referred lady were eventually apprehended and arrested
they were indeed Fulani herdsmen even though their cows
were not arrested with them.”
The latest episode in your catalogue of insensitivities is that
children that were protesting peacefully and asking for
#EndSARS and an end to police brutality have been
slaughtered at Lekki TollGate in Lagos under your watch as
National Leader of the APC.”
“Sadly instead of exhibiting any remorse or displaying any
regret for this abominable atrocity, with a sheepish smile
and a sneering and jocular tone, you had the sheer nerve
and effrontery to say nothing other than that you are “still
the Asiwaju of Lagos and the Jagaban?” Fani-Kayode said.
“Yet what was even worse than this and what shocked and
astounded all right-thinking people all the more was that
Tinubu had the temerity to go on even further to say that
the “casualties at the Lekki shooting have some questions
to answer!”
He then asked, “how are they there?”, “how long were they
there?” and “what kind of characters were they?”
How cruel can he be? Not a word of condolence or
expression of commiseration were reportedly said to the
families of the dead but instead, you offered questions and
baseless accusations against their wards and children who
were butchered in the most brutal circumstances and
heartless manner.”
“He has no self-respect, Children were murdered in our
streets and this is all you have to say?
“You are attempting to blame them for being shot to death
and blown to pieces by a bunch of genocidal maniacs in
uniform who subjected them to crimes against humanity,
genocide and mass murder”
“You seek to cover up these horrendous crimes and you are
attempting to dishonour and denigrate the dead and
desecrate and mock the great sacrifice of these
courageous young martyrs for democracy who were
murdered in cold blood on the front lines in the field of
battle?”
“Let me tell him this: Tinubu’s diversionary plan will not
work! This matter will not go away!
“He will not brush it under the carpet, you will not play it
down, he and Sanwoolu will not escape responsibility for
failing to protect our people from the beastly savages that
slaughtered them and their scurrilous attempt to muddy the
waters, cover up the truth and pervert the course of justice
will be exposed”
“He only harbours love, which borders on obsession, for
your vain and lofty ambition to rule Nigeria and trust me
when I tell you that this will never happen.”
To add to that the Holy Bible says “the Lord resists the
proud and exalts the humble”.
I counsel and urge him to ponder and meditate deeply on
these words. I advise him to humble yourself before God,
get to know Him, learn to fear Him and seek justice and
truth before it is too late! |
Ado-Ekiti— Ekiti State Commissioner for Information
and Civic Orientation, Mr. Akin Omole, and his
Agriculture and Food Security counterpart, Dr.
Olabode Adetoyi, have raised the alarm over looting
of poisonous items mistaken for Covid-19 palliatives
in the state.
They raised the alarm on Saturday, saying huge
quantities of poisonous items, mistaken for food yet
to be distributed as Covid-19 palliatives, were looted
in warehouses in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation,
Omole, said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti that raising
the alarm became expedient to forestall any harm
that could befall anyone who consumed the items.
Also reportedly looted was the office of the
Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) in Ado-
Ekiti.
“Information at our disposal revealed that the Federal
Government’s silos, the ADP warehouse and the State
Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) stores, all in
Ado-Ekiti, were attacked by hoodlums under the guise
of seeking Covid-19 palliatives.
“We insist that Ekiti State currently has no Covid-19
palliative warehouse as all the palliatives had been
distributed.
“Unfortunately, the items carted away were Single
Super Phosphate and NPK fertilisers, which they
erroneously thought was gari.
“The SEMA store too has only emergency supplies for
disaster response.
“Some people even made away with pre-fermented
corns preserved for planting. All these items are
poisonous and not fit for consumption.
“We, therefore, appeal to our people not to consume
these items because they can kill,” Omole warned.
In a similar statement, Dr. Olabode Adetoyi, the
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security,
confirmed the looting, warning that most of the items
carted away contained chemically-treated seeds
meant for planting.
“They are not suitable for consumption,” he declared. |

STRONG Indications have emerged that the Federal
Government may at the end of the day, accept demands by
the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU by
jettisoning and the Integrated Payroll and Personnel
Information System, IPPIS and accepting tthe University
Transparency Account System(UTAS) payment platform
developed by the University Lecturers.
According to the Federal Government, it may accept the
UTAS which is a local content after subjecting it to integrity
test today

Senator Chris Ngige made the disclosure yesterday after a
meeting with the leadership of the Senate and ASUU led by
its President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi.

the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, with
the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning in

According to the Minister, the Federal Government at the
end of test may settle for UTAS if found better than IPPIS.
Ngige said,” We are subjecting the University Transparency
Account System(UTAS) to integrity test today in the office
of the Accountant General of the Federation, with the
Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning in
attendance. We will not mind accepting it we see it as
more robust because it is more of local content.”
The meeting was at the instance of the President of the
Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan to resolve the present
quagmire between the Federal Government and ASUU.
Earlier, speaking before they went into a closed door

Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP National
Campaign Council in the just concluded governorship
election in Edo State, and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom
Wike, has warned that he may be forced to get involved
directly in the Ondo State governorship election should the
ruling All Progressives Congress drag him into their politics.
Wike issued the warning while reacting to comments by his
Ondo State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who
accused him of being the godfather of Rivers politics.
Governor Akeredolu, had in a statement by Donald Ojogo,
Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ondo
State, said the people of the state will resist Wike’s “attempt
to play the role of a godfather” in Ondo.
“Wike’s imperialistic approach was most unfortunate and
unbecoming,” he said.
But Wike who maintained that he has no ambition to be a
godfather to any politician said he won’t hesitate to
campaign with the achievements of his party, the PDP.
“First of all, I don’t want to believe that Akeredolu can make
such a statement. He does not have what it takes to make
such a statement. Godfather of what and for who? We are
the ones fighting against godfatherism.
“The question is that, have you (Akeredolu) done well for
your people and my party is saying no, you have not done
well and I believe so. Therefore, I am saying that Ondo
people should protect their votes. They should repeat what
happened in Edo.
“I still want to doubt that Akeredolu said that against me.
And I am going to go and look for that Newspaper and read
to be sure he did not say that.
“I want to see that he Akeredolu declared Wike persona non
grata. He knows he can’t try that. If he tries it, then he is
going to get into trouble. If they are not careful, I will be in
Ondo,” Wike warns. |

The Buhari Media Organisation, BMO, has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo for saying Nigeria is slowly becoming a failed state and divided under President Muhammadu Buhari Speaking at a consultative dialogue on Friday in Abuja, Obasanjo noted that he had never seen Nigeria so divided. The former Nigerian leader added that many of the problems plaguing the country today were due to the recent mismanagement of Nigeria’s diversity. Reacting to the former President’s comment, the Chairman of the Buhari Media Organisation, Niyi Akinsiju, said Nigerians would expect people like Obasanjo to behave like a statesman and address issues facing the country constructively. He explained that the former President should not join a class of elites who complain because their selfish material interests were not being met. Akinsiju said that President Buhari was moving Nigeria in the right direction after elite from all tribes contributed to the current state of affairs in the country. He said “ One would expect people like former President Obasanjo to behave like a statesman and not serve as a distraction. “The Nigerian political elite complain just like he is doing now when their personal interests are not being serviced. “President Muhammadu Buhari is doing what every sensible leader should do – put the interest of the majority of Nigerians first. Most of our fault lines that Obasanjo is talking about today are creations of the selfish interests of the elite which have no economic consequences. Most of our elite advance these fault lines to further their interests.” |
