You completely misquoted me. I grew up in Lagos and met friends from all tribes through my life there.i never had any problems with them, and we still keep in touch after so many years. I'm not being tribalistic in anyway. Racism is not even a word to use in a country like Nigeria; everyone there is mostly African. Tribalism is a better word to describe what's happening there, but I know most people around me embrace all tribes. It's the individual I personally deal with, not the tribe. It's not ok to generalize.

This is a forum and I think everybody just says whatever they want, some of those comments reiterates our tribal differences.

I don't even live in Nigeria but I'm Yoruba wherever I find myself in the world. Thats how i was created and im proud. I just think it's not okay to generalize. I lived, studied and left Nigeria when I was young. I believe I'm getting much older now. I joined this forum just to keep track of happenings in Nigeria.

The first time I heard of that word 'Afonja', I asked on that thread
what that meant. Someone replied with a picture of a man with some tribal marks. I had no idea whose picture that was. Another responded with a bowl of ewedu soup. After reading other threads, it was time to see the tribal differences. Why be so tribalistic?

Tribalism is now new, it's been like that since I was just a baby. It's never been solved for that long, so I believe in a complete overhaul of the current existing system.

The most important people in my life right now are my family and friends. If being tribalistic is the way to go, my closest friends are arent much. One is Yoruba, one is Igbo, one is Hausa, and one is from Bayelsa Niger-delta.
These are people I've known through my adolescence life and we still talk almost every week. We've known one another for many years and I'm spending a part of my next visit to Nigeria with my friend from the north. His parents still call me even though they know I'm Yoruba but they liked me for who I am. My Igbo friend was still here lately and him and his wife came over to my place. So, I don't discriminate at all. I don't know why folks here on the forum keep describing everyone from a tribal perspective.

The idea is this, don't assume everyone is same.Because a few folks act a certain way is no reason to condemn the entire tribe.
From a tribal stand-point though, we all don't entirely think alike and are better off in our separate locations. No wars needed, unless a certain set of people need everyone to stay together for their personal reasons. Only them benefit from it, not us.

This man is indeed loved by his people. The Governors will need bulletproof cars to make it through such a crowd.
