First time I will support a protest

Someone used pen and paper to write against you

Why don’t you use that same pen and paper to defend yourself and all the allegations

Instead, you go around criminal detaining him

How many corrupt politicians have been detained in such manner before

How is democracy going to thrive if you don’t have freedom of speech

There is no smoke without fire, it’s possible Afe Babalola was an extremely corrupt lawyer who received kickbacks and contracts illegally through govt influence

His university costs billions almost the same on par with universities built with fraudulent pastors who milk thier congregation for money such as bishop oyedepo and the rest

If he had nothing to hide he won’t be running helter scatter because of a book

Like
How can a book trigger someone so much
Are you kidding?? Books are perserved for hundreds of years after the lifetime of their author... Would you allow a book containing defamatory material about you to soil your legacy without answer?

Stop pretending to be dumb.

LandMann:
Useless stupid government of propaganda.

Why did you start a shiny new coastal road project of over 15 trillion naira when existing federal roads in Nigeria are unmotorable?

Of course, doing such will afford you the opportunity to inflate the project cost and take the extra from the contractor through the backdoor just like Ganduje the national chairman of APC did in Kano.

Shame on Tinubu and his government of nepotism and corruption
I get your point but on the other hand, the coastal road is a legacy project that will take many years. It needed to be started early. Meanwhile nothing stops a thief from stealing on existing projects. It's so easy as the current inflation has provided the perfect excuse to revise existing contracts.

It's clear that the current state of Nollywood is underwhelming. The storylines have become predictable and lack depth, making it easy to guess the ending before the movie even starts.

I want to emphasize that my criticism is not directed at any particular tribe, but rather at the industry as a whole. However, I do think that the influx of southwest influence in Nollywood lately has contributed to its decline in global reputation. The industry had gained international recognition and respect when it was all Igbos affairs, but it seems to have lost its way in recent years.

But every single Northerner that smelled aso rock was put there by a Southerner - a Yoruba to be precise. So isn't it you who should be worried? Wasn't that the same way you miscreants were ranting before the elections that Wike's political career is dead for betraying Atiku? "the north will teach him" you said.

You still can't learn. The only power the north ever had was the threat of military coups, which is now obsolete for reasons I know you can't even fathom.

You have a dull mind and consequently, you are doomed to be a befuddled bystander as the inevitable train of the future sweeps your archaic type into oblivion.

Safe travels thereto, friend.

In the same spirit, can we also agree that he who generates the resources should have the lion share? Dont worry, I pray Tinubu succeeds with this bill, trust me its gonna be very interesting
Is there any debate there? Of course those whose lands are ravaged to exploit resources should receive the lions share.
Politics › Re: FG Statement On Tax Bills Debate by SmartyPants(m): 8:11pm On Dec 03, 2024
Macphenson:
One of the most controversial issues in this Tax Reform Bill is that 60% of VAT to be shared by states will be given to the state it was collected from, It seems by this it will only favour mostly Lagos and Rivers State to the detriment of the Northern states who are collecting more VAT based on population.

Here is my concern, Lagos state was deliberately made the commercial headquaters of the Nation to the detriment of other states the more reason it collects more taxes.

Practically, All the cars entering the country pays their tax to only Lagos state. Even the cars to be used in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River states. Now this is not fair to these states as they have their own seaports but cars are not entering them, the taxes they are supposed to get as a state goes to Lagos state.

Also, Telecom companies pay their VAT in Lagos because their headquaters are located in Lagos, If this new bill is passed, that is no longer fair to all other states where the Telcom companies operate. Telcom companies should now start paying VAT to each state they operate as you can no longer rob Peter to pay Paul.

Oil companies have their headquaters located in Lagos while they operate in different states especially in the Niger Delta. This will no longer be fair if the bill is passed becaused those states where the oil companies operate will start demanding that the oil companies pay thier VAT in those states they operate.

The truth is this bill if passed, is seriously going to open litany of issues which I dont think at the moment the bill captured or resolved it.

Another worrisome dimension, this may prompt the oil producing states to start demanding for 60% of the oil revenues from their respective states, once this happens, chaos will reign supreme in the country.
Which litany of issues? There is one core and very simple issue: he who generates the VAT should enjoy the lions share of it. It applies in the same way across all the industries you mentioned. Let telcos pay their VAT where it is earned. And so on for every other business.

Up until now the majority of taxes generated in Lagos have been shared across the Federation, so how do you justify an argument that Lagos was deliberately set up to be the commercial hub in order to attract these taxes - - when the State has never collected its fair share of what it generates??

And who would have been responsible for that anyway?? Who is this person or persons that sought to grant Lagos such an advantage? lord Lugard? Ahmadu Bello? Nnamdi Azikiwe? Gowon? Lol.

SMH.

For wike matter, even his Ikwerre brothers detest him. Both Ijaw, Ikwerre, Ogoni and other minority tribes in Rivers dislike wike due to his selfish behaviour.

Rivers don't play tribal politics. We all saw how Ikwerre youths came out in large number and take over Ikwerre Local government from wike's thugs.

The only people that accepted wike as their hero are yoruba people.

Looking at the comments here, it's easy to see how un-enlightened most Nigerian youths are.

This is actually a fantastic idea. The organisation is most likely over staffed and has a lot of redundancy. For them to identify such a large number of staff to remove, they are looking to streamline efficiency and reduce expenditure.

You may see N50 billion as a lot of money but trust me it costs a lot more to keep non functional staff on payroll bearing in mind that these same staff will still be paid the same N50 billion (or even more) when they eventually retire
Why did you bother? cheesy if anyone can't reason this out by themselves then your intervention will still make no sense to them. I'm any case it's not like their rantings here can change anything. Just let them have their fun
