Also include bread spread,
99% of what is sold to us as butter is scam,
They are called bread spread.
Bread spread is simply a blanket term for any of these items that we eat with bread. Butter, margarine, mayonnaise, nutella, peanut butter, etc, are all types of bread spread.

When it comes to butter and margarine, the main difference is that butter is made from milk and margarine is made from vegetable oil.

Benin again..

Why is benin(kingdom) the most uncertain tribe in the country today; with no substantial evidence of where they came from and who there predecessors or descendants are.

Today, ask the benin people who there descendants are:

(The 1st day) They will claim their descendants are the yorubas.

(Day 2) They will say it's the Ijaws

(Day 3) They will say it's the Igbos

(Day 4) They will say it's the Ikwerres

(Day 5) They will tell you is the Isokos

(Day 6) They will say its the urhobos (after the migration) - Everytime they will tell you that is either they migrated to that place or that they conquered through war.. People with barely 4 local govt in Edo state, is it not funny?..

Presently, they're raising unequivocal issues and doubts among other confused tribe that are willing to dive into their confusion.

Benin people are really confused who they are, where they came from and who were their good or bad neighbours.

Today they claim fathering Yoruba, tomorrow Igalla or Ijaw, next Igbo, Ikwerre or Opobo or Urhobos. They seem to be hopeless in determining who they are.

(And they claimed they once had a kingdom, hmmm).

How can you be a father to communities that are one hundred percent more than you in population, with highly sophisticated different languages, culture, tradition and customs? See the sizes of Yoruba - Benin, Igbo - Benin, Igalla - Benin. It is that of a Squirrel to an Elephant, and you want a sage to believe that the squirrel is the father and founder of the Elephant. So where is the rationale, the similarity, the closeness, etc.

Their various concocted historical tales are like many herbs in a cauldron giving vane remedy to any sickness, such a tragedy.

I'm a proud Igbo from Obio akpor.

Our fathers never told us we were from bini nor hausa nor yoruba, na their business sha.. All their jokes is on them grin

No, you are not proud. undecided You are insecure and full of inferiority complex. One who is truly secure in their identity has no need to declare to the world that he is proud of who he is. Did anyone ask you? Then you are only answering the voice of insecurity that lies within your own mind.

the sad part is that some of our brothas would disregard some great sistas at home, to go settle for oyinbos that may be WORST than our sistas sef... if you believe that any oyinbo woman is an upgrade then you sir will have a wake up call very soon.

here is the IMPORTANT question of the day: why do you think that so many brothas abroad run to Nigeria to find wife and dont marry any of the gazillion oyinbos and/or sistas abroad?
If you're honest or even just smart, you should know that the main reason for this is that those ladies abroad, except the fat and poor ones, don't want them.

Unless you're a genuinely exceptional Nigerian - exceptionally handsome, successful, educated, etc, mating opportunities will be hard to come by.

Love800:
What do you mean by your step 3 and 4?
Can u explain further?
3. introduce monetary policies to stimulate access to capital and let the private sector do the rest

4. Introduce customs and excise policies to strangulate imports
Monetary policy controls the amount of money in supply in the economy mainly through the Monetary Policy Rate. In a very simplified form, the MPR is the official rate at which the Central Bank pays interest or lends to commercial banks [yes banks deposit their monies with the CBN too, and they also borrow from the CBN]. The rate at which commercial banks lend to others is always higher than the MPR. So when the CBN increases the MPR, loans become very expensive. This has the effect of preventing people from taking loans. At the same time, it also means that financial instruments such as treasury bills offer very high interest rates, so it becomes attractive for investors to buy them instead of investing in new businesses. Overall, once the MPR is high, it means there will be less business activity in the economy. This means, generally, that people who have money will be more frugal with it since they are investing most of their income in high-interest financial instruments. As a result, there will be less demand for consumer goods too, which means demand will fall and so too should prices across the board except some other factors [such as dollar prices] influence prices.

Right now the MPR is very high for all the reasons I just explained. What I was saying is that the MPR should eventually be reduced to a very low figure to make it more attractive for businesses to invest in actual commercial activities.

As for my point on customs and excise, I'm simply saying imports should face higher levies to discourage importers and encourage local production.

The rich you think you're taxing also help create jobs. You can't continue to wipe out the middle class and force the rich down to middle class.

The points I raise to increase funds will produce more funds than required but the thieves in govt have no political will to execute
So it is V.A.T that will eliminate the middle class and force the rich down to the middle class? Lol. What are you saying?? V.A.T. is just a small percentage added to the price of certain items. There is no way V.A.T. can make people poor. At best, it may have a minuscule effect on spending habits, which won't be enough to make people poor or turn the rich into the middle class. VAT is not a tax on income so that is not even within the scope of the discussion.

The things you mentioned are not bad policies and I've not said they shouldn't be done. However, this is theory. in practice, recovering misappropriated funds is a process that can take many years. it is not reasonable to posit that this should be any government's main source of funding. Also, you don't seem to have a proper appreciation of the challenges in the oil industry - let me just put it to you that if the government could snap its fingers and sell more oil, of course it would. These are not challenges that are solved overnight.

The people are already impoverished. More taxes causes more insecurity as people lose money and overall distress increases. Leave the tax system as it is for now.

FIGHT CORRUPTION and recover the trillions of stolen funds.

Block leakages in govt and drastically reduce the cost of governance(by 50%)

Increase the abysmall 1.2 million barrel of crude to the 2.4 million we were doing during the PDP time.

These will give the required funds. You cannot fill a bucket using water contained in that bucket
This is why I highlighted the part of the article that explains how this increase in VAT relieves the poor by refocusing taxes on luxury items. This is a progressive policy that helps the poor unfortunately people are reading headlines and criticising.

BabbanBura:
But PO has being telling you guys the solutions nah, why asking you here?

1. Production production production. You gat to produce for home and export. So Bulabu needs to mobilise the country to production be it farming, be it industries (manufacturing), be it human labour (capital). The above will reduce imports and therefore fx demands. Excess will improve fx supply. To achieve this, he needs to fix the security and roads

2. Improve exports - be it out solid minerals, oil and gas, agro and allied products, electricity, human capital (manpower, skills etc)

3. Prosecute the past and current thieves, recover funds stashed abroad and home, make them face jail term.

4. Continue to deal with speculators, bank chiefs that aid the politicians to launder funds, the BDCs that move money around for terrorism and other vices

These are arranged in order of impacts and priority. Buy Bulabu is only tackling number 4 and you all are clapping for him. Now that the effect if 4 has worn out, naira is slumping again
Wrong. The country is already in a state of hyperinflation. Before you move to production you must first bring inflation under control - trying to boost production while inflation is still high will only lead to higher inflation.

The correct steps to be taken are:

1. Combat inflation

2. Fix security, power and transport infrastructure

3. introduce monetary policies to stimulate access to capital and let the private sector do the rest

4. Introduce customs and excise policies to strangulate imports

Clearly the government is attempting to work through steps 1 nd 2 now with limited success. But we all know these things are much easier said than done.

Govt should focus on ending or reducing insecurity drastically. Then focus on agricultural revolution. Next is production for local consumption and export.

Focusing on tax wont move the country forward.
How does tax stop the country from moving forward? Is there any advanced or advancing country that doesn't collect taxes? How do you expect the government to do any of the things you mentioned without funds? Should all the funds come from oil exploration alone?

Let's take an example. To end or reduce insecurity drastically, do you not need to employ and equip your security forces? Where should the funds for this come from?

Odotech:
Your husband is investing in Nigeria because he knows Nigeria is a lawless place where should both of you divorce today, you will get nothing from the courts. Courts here pervert justice. But if it was in UK he invested, whether he puts your name or not, the properties belong to you both except you had prenuptial agreement. He may have his fear of losing out if divorced for insisting on investing here in Nigeria. You too have the fear of losing out because of his choice of a lawless country as investment destination. The middle point should have been investing in Nigeria under you both's full legal name ie Mrs Jane Sobotie and Mr Jude Sobotie. In law, "Mr and Mrs Jude Sobotie" is not recognized name. Tell him to put your name or henceforth forget about investment in Nigeria. Support only joint investment in UK where you have automatic right to any property in his own name or invest in your own name here in Nigeria if he refuses to include you in the existing properties. Make him understand that you know and understand his fears is about losing it all through divorce but that Nigerian courts and systems are already biased towards men in the event of divorce, so your legal name must be included. Should he relocate to Nigeria tomorrow or secretly marry another Nigerian woman, she automatically inherits properties built with your money because your name is not on those documents. Nigerian law recognizes not just court marriages but also customary marriages so your own properties will be shared between you and the secret wife of your husband. You seem like a good woman. The type most of us would like to have really. You appear supportive and not interested in divorcing your man like we read about Nigerian women dealing with their husbands in the UK
Mention one case you know of where the nigerian Courts deprived a woman of her husband's estate. Looking forward to an insightful answer sir.

Wants to tax Nigerians to death!
“So we therefore need to adjust the VAT rate upward. We would ensure that it doesn’t affect businesses. The only thing is to look at basic consumption from food, education, medical services and accommodation will carry zero percent VAT. So for the poor and small businesses, no VAT.”
This is a sound policy that increase VAT yes but places the burden on the rich by taxing luxury products and services higher, and removing VAT from basic necessities altogether, while giving more of the VAT revenue to the States and LGs to support more direct provision of services to the people. Can you explain what your opposition to this idea is? I sincerely want to understand.

It has reached a point where both sides of the divide know that the majority of these stories are either outright fabrications, or exaggerations, or dilutions of the truth. But it is politically expedient and unfortunately, most of our media houses do not adhere to the ethics of good journalism.

I am convinced that if you dig deeper into any of these outlets you will find that many of them receive funding from unusual sources such as the diaspora. Heavy agendas are being pursued using the media.

It's so bad that once I'm reading any news article and see that the source is "an unnamed source" I am convinced that the story is likely a fabrication. The media should be the one neutral party that we can trust as we navigate these present perilous waters as a nation but nope, they prefer to thrust us deeper into contrived chaos.

How come Nigerians are very United when they are outside Nigeria. But when they are in Nigeria they are very divided?
People gravitate towards the smallest available unit of community.

When you're in Nigeria that is first your religion, then your region, then your tribe and depending on the complexity of your tribe, your particular State.

When you're outside Nigeria, that is first your race, then your religion, then your region/sub-region(West or East Africa for example), and then your country.
