Most importantly, I thank God for seeing me through every step of this arduous albeit exciting and interesting journey.

My announcement would NEVER be complete if I don't pray to God to immeasurably bless my altruistic and selfless brother @Topsmamen

Take a look at our beloved brother - smslive2, who was once a newcomer but now has over 2 million Nairaland followers and has built an empire in Nairaland City (Bro, no be shots fired this time o, na accolades fired. regardless of whether you already did biometrics as part of a previous student or visitor visa application....for permanent residence you need to do biometrics AGAIN....this is my understanding of this link (see below) ..sorry I don't know how to link it like @smslive2.

by the way @smslive2 pls can you teach me how it's done

....anyway it's only if you applying again for another visitor or student visa that you are not required to redo biometrics....

......hope this helps

Congratulations once again on your PPR.... You need to contact CIC to discuss your options before you leave Nigeria. You can ask for permission to submit in Sydney.
suzzyallen:
Evening everyone. Pls I need your help. My family and I received PPR this morn(thank God) and the email says we are to send our passports within 15days of receipt of the email. The issue now is that we can't submit our passports now because we are leaving Nigeria for Sydney on the 16th of October, 2018 to arrive Sydney on the 18th. My question is how do I navigate around this. Is it possible to submit the passports at VFS global in Sydney or I have to courier the passports to VFS global in Nigeria. Ur prompt response in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Great news. Congrats... Please which BCs qualification did you evaluate?
Sthill5:
I can finally share my first good news on this thread.

After a grueling 6 months of transcript and verification issues with OOU for my diploma attained in 2006, my ECA is finally ready. Completion date was September 19 but only God and WES knows why it took so long

Also my degree equivalent from the UK (British Computer Society ) was evaluated to be a canadian bachelors degree so I can now officially claim points for two certificates! So if you or someone you know has BCS qualifications in IT, they should evaluate it

Thank you newmum and happytbaby for encouraging me to go through the naija stress of evaluating my diploma. I spent almost 150k and 4 trips to ago-iwoye. Coming back home late at night with bad roads and crazy drivers. If you know Epe express way, you will understand. This is not ppr but its a breakthrough for me. Now awaiting IELTS tomorrow.

M so sorry. Been under a lot of pressure this week as am relocating to Australia next week. Actually have Aussie PR, so we done pop champagne before before. PPR came as a surprise. Started Canadian route in Jan, 2018 when the Aussie PR got delayed (13 months) and i started to loose hope of getting a positive response. Wrote IELTS- Feb 2018, verification of my credentials delayed so entered pool in April and got ITA in May. Applied for Canny visa July 20, but wasnt really expecting PPR so soon. It hasn't really sunk in as have been busy packing and trying to sell some of my stuff..... God has really wiped away all my tears. This time last year, I was in tears cos we received bad news concerning our Aussie visa application. See how God works. He gave us double for our trouble......Eyin Oluwa logooo!!!!!

@AzeD1 and @BOSS13 by the power conferred on Justin Trudeau and President Buhari, You are hereby commanded to kneel down, raise your heads, close your eyes and say the Lord's prayer grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin.... Please guys, Both of you are not wrong as our senior below have rightly said. Please let is slide. Alot of people are looking up to you for advice on this journey. Biko
einsteino:
oh so I am not the only one who had to check twice that I wasn't on the wrong thread.

To be frank, I didn't see anything wrong with Boss13 question. Not a few times on the journey of Express Entry have we had to ask what would normally be intrusive questions, but these questions help one know the best for someone of that profile. It's much like how a doctor has to be somewhat poky to diagnose. if we all have to be assuming, we would go on giving generic answers that may turn out to be an ill advise.

A case in point, in making a choice of where to settle down, those I consulted usually start out asking my marital status/family composition. I have had folks say to me "Why choose to live in ZZZ like me, if I were single like you YYY is where I would have gone".

That said, in the absence of a context to inform the motive of Boss13's question, AZeD1 like most people may not have any choice than to infer based on the normal day to day experience. In that sense, it can only seem intrusive... but we should get accustomed to the fact that to counsel someone on a life imparting matter like the ones discussed on here, it is only wise to have all data that are crucial to decision making. More importantly, no one is paid for the service here and we do not want to frighten or punish people for attempting to aid us.

Communicating in text is hard, even for very good writers; lots of meanings can be misconstrued and it can easily cause the reader to be cynical of one's intents. However succinct our communication style maybe, conflicts and misunderstandings can not be extricated from human relationships, we can only reduce how often it occurs and resolve them when they do. I believe AzDe1 and Boss13 can resolve this squabble if they understand that they were only playing the role we all must play as pawns in the inexorable game of human conflict. It's no one's fault really, it's natural for things like this to happen where two or more humans are gathered.

wow wow wow... Congratulations for typing this! You have seen people who are jobless and does not have anything to do with their life except answering your questions on Nairaland.
crystalllllllll:
Is it bad to ask questions? I for one hate it when people tell others to go read from page 1. If you can't answer their questions, simply ignore. If you can and you think the question has been answered some pages before you can do well to look it up and then answer with a link to that page. Imagine being on page 389 and dwelling on page 1 info. Things change sometimes and we all know that. Plus people are busy with other things in life too, not just Canadian immigration.

This is currently IP2... If it remains like this, then PPR is closer than ever however, most cases it reverses back to IP1. So kneel and pray harder
There is a WhatsApp group for Nigeria August AOR... PM me if you are not in the group yet and interested...

CanadianNaija:
AOR - August 24th
MEP- Sep 19th
Biometric Letter- Sept 19th
Biometric done- Sept 24th
Biometric completed on profile - Sept 24th

I don’t know what IP stage I’m at, but I attached a screen shot of my profile.

I wonder when PPR will come, but I’m tired of the wait.

I’m always refreshing my emails and trekking all over the internet looking for Aug 24th AOR news.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 5 by smslive2: 2:38pm On Oct 09, 2018
Let me try and answer to the best of my knowledge...

1. You can use the IELTS General u used for UK Visa, however, be sure to get ITA and AOR before the expiry date. I think it would be locked after that date so you might not need to write again. (Please seek further clarification on this)
2. POF: I would suggest you use both sources of funds...

3. You can request fr one work reference letter but make sure you check that both job roles are in the required job skill level (O, A or B)

4. Medicals, I would advise you book your appointment now considering you have a limited time to submit your application due to your IELTS expiry date, there is currently a long wait time for medical appointments in Nigeria now. If you are in the UK, i think wait times for Visa Medicals is still 1month, so either way, you need to act fast!

5. Amen to your prayers

nomad26:
My fellow future Canadians cheesy I am just starting the EE journey and I would really appreciate if the gurus could take a look at my plan and give advice.

I am married (we are both 33yo with no children) and we plan to immigrate together to Canada by God's grace. Our CRS currently stands at 442.

IELTS - I plan to use an existing IELTS general that I wrote for UK Visa. Please will this be okay? My score was L-9, R-9, W-7.5, S-7.5. However it expires first week of December and I really hope we can get ITA and submit e-APR by then so I don't have to write it again o. Is this a realistic target?

My partner will write IELTS in a few weeks to boost our score (already booked) and hopefully get his result by early Nov.

ECA - I have MSc and partner has BSc. We have already started the evaluation process with ICES (shout out to you guys for the tip!) & our transcripts have been received from our universities. Hoping we can get the ECAs by early Nov.

POF - I need advice on this one o. We currently have the required funds in a joint account by depositing money from our individual salary account last month. So we have only had the money there for just a month. I don't know if this is acceptable for POF. The other alternative is to use a cash fund that I have with my employer (similar to what Indians call provident fund). The money will be paid to me in full lump-sum when I leave the company. The amount meets the POF requirement too and I think I can get a letter from my employer to back this up.
Should I use both options, just to be on the safe side? Please advise me o.

Work reference letter - I have only worked for one company but there was a break in my employment e.g. 2014-2016 working in Nigeria,2017 personal leave, 2018 working in UK for the same company but with a different job title. I want to claim 3+ years of experience so I am planning to request for just one reference letter that will state all the job titles I have had with dates and the r&r. Will this be acceptable?

PCC - in progress

Medicals - planning to do this as soon as we get ITA.

Thanks everyone, God will favour us all o!!

You do know you are not supposed to get a loan for this journey? The money in the POF should be yours and unencumbered.
mayour01:
Hello guys. Please I am a silent reader. Please I have a problem with our POF. I am the PA and took 2millon loan as part of POF. A friend advised that I divide the money to half and moved 1million to my other account in the same bank for other payments that we still needed to still pay (I have two savings account in the same bank). We planned using a letter from my cooperative society as part of POF and then Gift deed from my father to balance up. Albeit i initially taught of transferring the 2million to my father to add to the other he promised us and use GIft deed but with this development, please what is the best way to go about it. Thank you
Please note that I also plan using a letter from the cooperative stating the amount I have after collecting the loan(i.e I took 2M which I am currently repaying and then I have also collected a letter stating I still have 1.5m as my savings

Fellow Canadians.. As we celebrate thanksgiving 2018 outside of Canada today let us remember to thank God for where we are and where he is taking us to. Even though we hope to be somewhere better but we are better off than alot of people. For those of us seeking one thing or the other in order to boost our points to get to the promised land, remember that alot of people do not even qualify at all either due to age or lack of first degree. Some dont even have money for IELTS but we are the Lucky ones. Remember this song... Some have foods but cannot eat, some can eat but have no food, we have food and we can eat. Glory be to thee Oh Lord. Phil 4:6 says. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known to God... It is my prayer that by Thanksgiving day 2019, all our dreams would have become reality. Peace

As per my understanding... you can combine NOC. So you should be able to claim points for your Lecturing and the previous jobs

Hi, I got a Ph.D. last November but I have been working as a university lecturer for 7 years therefore my NOC is 4011 (University professors and Lecturers). Please does it mean I can only claim one year experience since I was doing the PhD and working at the same time for 6 years?

Well said my brother in Blue
mcstan18:
Congratulations bro.

As a side note, it doesn't speak well of anyone to come to this forum, benefit immensely and then bow out with the kind of PPR announcements we've been seeing lately, this one in particular. PPR announcements have their own way of boosting badly battered morale of some people who visit this thread. Sometimes, all one would need to continue to fire on is a visit to the PPR section of page 1 but very few would read the kind of PPR testimonies we see these days and feel "gingered". I won't be surprised if you've also benefitted from those long narratives of happy people here.

We can do better guys.
