Please my personal opinion based on what I have learnt here, I have not gone beyond Nija oOo 1. Chance of getting admission for my PhD Response : No one here can be certain as it depends on many factors not limited to the number of applicant for a given semester in a given school and the available spaces. The best bet is to write the people in charge of International admissions in your school of interest. The concerned email /other contact will be available on the school's website. You may send them a soft copy of your transcripts and they will evaluate the chances of your being admitted and the conditions attached to it e.g. Securing a supervisor in advance in the school in the area of your interest. 2. Which schools will you advice that will increase my chance as well as return on investment. Response : No one knows tomorrow exactly. Change is frequent but the chances are far, far better than being within Nija. There are elements of luck, packaging, work experience, networking ability within and without professional association etc 3. My main priority is permanent resident (PR) permit. Response : Phd candidates have the highest chance upon completion of studies. You may however do some online research on express entry, luck may smile at you and that would be the fastest route to PR. https://www.nairaland.com/1279130/canadian-federal-skilled-worker-program-timelines/219 4. Will going for MSC or master in engineering management be a good option, if yes, which schools do you think will accept me based on my detail above. Yes, it's a good option to consider. The more the options, the better for you as you would be able to choose the best out of the good available options. Your interest and passion also come into play here 5. What other options do you think i can apply knowing that PR is my main priority. RESPONSE : https://www.nairaland.com/1279130/canadian-federal-skilled-worker-program-timelines/219 To be honest with you, you need to do a lot of google search limiting the search to nairaland for you to get the required info as guys are very, very busy to take all these questions at a goo. The questions are mouthful and no one is being paid to be here ! e.g. "whatever question you have in mind " : www.nairaland.com Breaking them one at a time would elicit prompt response from guys. The following random info can be of help also : http://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/ for search of school by program www.universitystudy.ca http://www.aucc.ca/canadian-universities/facts-and-stats/tuition-fees-by-university/ for search of school by tuition If you get a desired school in British Colombia province , please go for it as it will be faster to get your PR. By High School Transacript they mean WAEC O L results. You buy a WAEC scratch card for online result confirmation send them the digits under the seal and the serial number or scan the scratch card after cratching and send it to them. Dont forget to send them the info below too Your full name, School name, address and Year of the exam. A scan of your WAEC cert will contain all that... They will verify and confirm and that is all. steinmajor: 1 Like |

Please, tell your friend to have another application as back up. That school seems to be a popular destination for foreigners and so competition is high.Our country people plenty because of its the Oil and Gas region of Canada. He would be offered but may take sometime as their admission is 1st come, 1st qualify and 1st served basis. Besides, its always good to have options. Uchetorial: |

You are entitle to a personal copy of your University transcript as a right not a privilege. Normally, your first transcript request should make you have a personal copy, if not request and pay for it. This personal copy will NOT be address to any Institution and so you are suppose to scan it for online processing. If you prefer paper route, you can print the scanned copy or even photocopy your personal copy, notorize it. The most senior office at the exams and record of your school can also certify a photocopy of the original.Go with which ever option is fastest and easier for you. They are all legally acceptable options. You need to include your Bsc Certificate scan or notorised photocopy depending on the route if the transcript is proving too difficult. Early submission of a complete application is advised. Cheers CruzAj: |

Chars1289: 1. You can apply FOC . Yes, Free-of- Charge. It only has to be within a small window knowN to only we the privileged ones !! #kidding. I got this reply from a SAIT officer (name withheld) when I inquired on the exact date for this year : "It depends on when you want to start. We actually have two open houses a year, so you could apply during our Winter Open House (Feb. 6-7, 2015), but that would be for programs that start in Fall 2015. After that there will be an open house in October for programs that start in Fall 2016. Thanks, " 2. Like and follow their page on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/SAITPolytechnic and send your inquiries inbox. The promptness of response will amaze you. Don't Thank me now, but after trying the suggestions above. You may PM me so that we may do some handshake if u consider it necessary. Best wishes 1 Like |

@bpatient : Don't mind those self righteous, I know it all folks. Selfishness is their issue. No two individuals have the same story. Our finger print is unique. And No one knows it all. You only need a sample to craft your own story. The below might be of help : 1. "Study plan: Please submit a one page study plan which answers the following questions and includes any other information relevant to the processing of your application: - Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted? - What is your overall educational goal? - Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence? - What research have you done into studies in your country of residence/citizenship? - How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? - What ties do you have to your country of residence/citizenship? Note: The visa officer may request additional documents or a personal interview. - If it has been more than 2 years since you have left full time education, please provide your C.V. (resumé) - In the case of a minor applicant, what are your reasons for studying in Canada? What is your parents’/guardians’ immigration status in their current country of residence?" Culled from : http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/kenya/visas/53_1.aspx?lang=eng 2. https://www.nairaland.com/1851578/travelling-canada-part-6/488#28587299 3. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vvxhyhzqm0e7e83/my%20SOP%20to%20Embassy%20redacted.pdf?dl=0 4. use google to find more e.g. " sop for canada student visa : nairaland " without the quotation mark will give you results limited to Nairaland so you will be able to see Samples earlier pasted by successful applicants. I hope this help. Best wishes bpatient: 3 Likes |

Hi all, would appreciate assistance / suggestion from Computer Science Gurus or any one with adequate info in NL eFamily on a case of a sister. She has been delayed two times already and discouraged. I have encouraged her to refire a new with a new strategy. I would like to seek for assistance on her behave in order to move on. Based on info I gathered here I can infer that that she has a not so straight forward Application. She has been working for the past 4 years in an IT firm in Lagos. My advise to her is to consider a 2 year PGD in Computer related courses (as against a complete departure from IT and Engineering )or A 2 year Applied Bachelor of Technology in a polytechnic or college. She would like to consider this, but getting schools she could apply to has been a challenge even with lots of google search. These url have been searched without success: http://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/ www.universitystudy.ca http://www.aucc.ca/canadian-universities/facts-and-stats/tuition-fees-by-university/ She would appreciate inputs from gurus in this domain and kind folks who are on ground in canada. She is open to new ideas. She has IT certifications such as CCNA, OCA,OCP, Oracle SQL EXPERT, CEH, ECSA Does my advice make sense ? A million Thanks in advance. Cheers |

@chuk66

Please go US. Put in your very best. If getting work permit is not easy then move for a Phd in Canada. You will have only extra 1 year to complete Canada's Phd as compared to PGD +MSC route in Canada. With Msc (US) + Phd your permanent residency will be very easy. So, it saves time.Cheers always 1 Like |

The solution to the fear expressed quoted below is not too hard. Those who have had their TRV may assist in posting SOP here after carefully removing their personal details. After all, they have nothing to loose in the event of a copy and paste by a mentally lazy applicant. Only the applicant who does a robotic reproduction has everything to loose. I have a strong believe that with a dozen volunteers of excellent SOP as advised , this forum will be helped immeasurable. Best wishes to all. "EIDT: Someone noted below that this can give room to plagiarism. Using the example I cited of my SOP to gain admission, I believe no serious person can plagiarize because even if you want to copy the style and format, you would still need to put in your own words.
" 1 Like |

1. The 2 schools and course of study must have the same date for Start of Program .e.g. FALL etc 2. When TRV is approved,you will have to enter Canada well ahead of Start date in order to cancel the program you had paid for before start of session. 3. To be on the safest side, go to the schools sites (which u intend applying into) to see their refund Policy. That will guide you on how to play safe so that you don't loose a penny of your school fees deposit. What you are being advised is do-able if planning is thorough. Cheers ada4all: |

But you have right to a personal copy of your academic transcript immediately its completely processed by your school. This you can scan and send via mails in advance to any institution you intend applying to in the interim before the original gets to the school. If you are very good at social networking, tell them you want to DHL it yourself.Package the request well and you will have it handed over to you. Dont give in, try it. Goodluck Shyee: |

@Siga: Uncle, a million Thanks. You inspire always and have great sense of humour. May your tribe grow here. Your response are so tempting that am now considering reviving my dream of yesteryears except that age is no more on my side for this TRV thing. Twice applied in 2006, when all original certificates and travel doc have to be submitted from day 1 of the application to the last day of CIC decision. Was refuse on a false ground that I did not include my evidence of admission even when I had paid 1 year Tution for a 2 year program.Anxiety for so long a time caused me High BP and no one to encourage and inspire NOT to give up the way you and others have been doing here. Thumb up for being a candle in the darkness. GOD bless all the NL family. Coming here daily just to get inspired, amused and learn has been pleasurable experience. Best wishes to you all. Haha Bros, are u kidding here ! They are asking for the details of the scratch card with which to cross-check your results. Go buy WAEC's SCRATCH card and you will see the details requested for on it. One is protected, u need to scratch to get it and the other is serial Number of the card which is in plain Digits. I hope u understand better now. Good luck ada4all: |

Kevinoh:It can be done in any major police office NOT necessarily in Lagos. I have done it before at Iyaganku Police office - Oyo state HQ, Ibadan. So Rivers state Police HQ will do it in part. Finger prints will be taken from you locally and the final doc. will be send for signing. You will be informed in advance when to come for collection. But for online route, you may not need it.
