What is grammatical and tense here you're talking about?

The statement that son of an illiterate father made was wrong I still stand to be corrected. Reason is because that statement is an imaginary statement and not a real or uncertain statement.

When if (condition) is used in a sentence in form of imaginary it should be accompanied with a verb in it's past tense or past participle as the case may be. e.g

They’d have got the job done quicker if they’d had more people working on it. (imagined)

NB: the punctuation used in the sentence they'd means they would and on the other end they'd there means they had. Now, a past perfect tense of word have which is a verb came afterwards because of the if (conditional statement)

Now, coming back to that guy's statement, and I quote, Dude you're not smart, if you were you'd know that my annual income has nothing to do with this issue

First, that sentence is a conditional statement with the word if. He then proceed with a past tense verb (were) Why then would you again have to use a present tense know after using had/would again? Isn't that a grammatical error?

Abi you no no say would is the past tense of will? So why use a present tense after a past tense verb in a statement?

Watin u get for English for school abeggrin

I never said anything about the man’s statement. Your previous statement was grammatically right but it’s not a past tense as you put it, you shouldn’t even be arguing this. Or take time to go back to what you posted and see what I mean

Sir The verb *had* is a past tense of *have* so a past tense of the verb *know* should accompany the verb *had* when use in a sentence.

So the right phrase would have been if you'd (you had- past tense) known (past tense) and not if you'd know. Thats grammatical error.

As a matter of fact, the preposition if should be accompanied with past tense

Correct me if you think otherwise

na A I get for GES100 oh
I think otherwise and I’m gonna correct you.
Firstly ‘knew’ is the past tense of ‘know’ and ‘known’ is it’s past participle. The statement up there is a past perfect tense and not a past tense. Even though you were grammatically right, you got the tenses wrong

Good day comrades!
My hub has been making mad noise week start, so I’m on the verge of getting it fixed.

Please I’d like to know the best approach towards this, should I do a complete replacement of the hub via tokunbo parts or do just replacement of the bearings inside the hub?
Your input will be greatly appreciated

So it was a delivery trip. She said receiver will pay, I called the receiver and confirmed who will pay. Receiver verified, then I moved.
Got to destination, and receiver sent someone to come and collect package and account number, since na person mama, (or so I thought) I no even suspect anything. I moved on to another trip - Ajayi road to Lekki.
Had even forgotten till I got alert for the next trip and noticed my account balance.
I called the receiver and she say she is doing it immediately, that she forgot. After 30mins called again, she say network is bad. After 1hr, I called again she come say na person wey request go pay. "Didn't u confirm u will pay?, madam I record all my calls and if u don't want me to come to your house right now to collect my money send my money in 30mins"
Scam, I dey Lekki, 8pm, how? After like 30mins she said she has sent 2k that sender will pay balance. I say I never see the money she say "check it well, I have sent it". Then I called nice girl that requested, she no pick, call am 3more times she no pick, I checked d App and discovered the number is different, I called that number with another number of mine, she picked, immediately she heard my voice she cute call. I say I don enter am today, wetin wan carry me go Liasu road again?
I sent her the text I usually send to scammers with my normal line to the line that she refused to pick, immediately she replied. Then I called her again and gave her till midnight to send my full money, I don't want to hear any excuses, it's none of my concern. 11.50pm my alert enter.
Usually if it's a delivery and it's an estate that u call d gate first before I enter, u will send my money before I drop the package or leave that place. If it's receiver that's paying, receiver will do my transfer in my presence, if it's a 4th party that collects package then I wait till I get alert before I drive out.
Experience is the best teacher indeed, told u guys there was a catch for all that courtesy and niceness, it was for me to drop my guard or not be suspicious. This "nice" lady didn't have money or planned not to pay for this trip, her sister, d receiver was in on it too. Till now I still dey wait for the 2k wey receiver say she don "send already" since 8.30pm. If I had taken it easy and be doing gentleman till tomorrow or next, na Oyo for be my name.

Guys shine ur eyes o, take all necessary precaution, it's an animal farm out there and everyone is out to cheat and outsmart u if they have the opportunity. Just reason say u go market go buy something, and want to pay with transfer, will seller let you go without alert? I left there because I knew I can come back if anything goes wrong.

Riders ehn, they are so predictable

Me I don even make up my mind that if I’m doing delivery and it’s not on surge, it better be a card trip if not, I no dey do.
I hate having to waste so much time and call card trying to get my money from these children of Eve

I ain't disputing your facts bro.

With what you've been posting here, they won't really need to contact drivers anymore.
We're not really against your motive for posting dashboard here. We just want you to make it available to only the drivers. Not the general public.

Quit dragging this baba, we are all adults here, and I believe he’s doing what he feel is right. Besides you’re drawing more attention to the same thing you are trying to avoid.

winkActually, i am currently working on a model where repairs will be fast, and affordable.

And when i mean affordable, i mean: reasonable and affordable.

I have seen enough bashings of mechanics, and the condescending tag ''kazeem''. Of course, paint him bad and look like the best thing after jollof rice.

For this hustle, you need a mechanic that's not cut throat, quality parts that are not expensive and responsive repair time.

The average mechanic is not as bad as they are often painted here. They just need some brushing, improved communication skills, and training.

For this hustle, you shouldnt be paying for packaging. Which is what a number of glorified autoshops are. Go to their tech section, and you still meet the kazeem fixing the car. But this time, you are offered better communication, your complaints taken with promise to address them, and a chance to speak your English and issue threat of sueing if anything goes wrong with your car, since you are already paying through your nose. Truth is, things might go wrong and there's very little you can do.

The model is not to reinvent the wheels.

We are not opening new parts stores, or a logistics company for delivery, nor new autoshops. You are certain to have a shop in your local government. You wouldnt need to drive 50 miles to get to a workshop.

You don't have to repair with us. You can get trusted and quality parts, even provide support for your mechanic.

I am talking about affordable parts

- Stabilizer Linkage : 4k

- Brake Pads front and back for :7k, it is fine if you want wagner brake pads lipsrsealed .

- Stabilizer bushings: 1,500

- Shock absorbers : 21k

- Toks ignition coil: 8k

- Toks All Season tyres for: 7-10k

- Of course, you will pay for service!

You dont want your vehicle breakdown, and because you are here and there, there's no mechanic to call that will come in an instance for rescue.

In this model, everyone wins. The car owner, parts sellers, and mechanics. If you want to feel like Dangote, there are enough shops to choose from, they are glad to have you.

If you have ever gotten an estimate from germane, Elizade, Coscharis you will know their service policy is not channeled to cater for an Uber hustle or the average Nigerian

Almost done with the modus for quality affordable parts. New and Toks. Not cut throat. We will make the mechanic in your environ a realistic option.

PS: This is not to take anything away from Standard Autoshops offering quality service. If anyone takes this idea and runs with, and it comes to fruition, it is a win for the industry.

BTW all Parts are currently available. Even if you are not buying from me, use me to know price grin

Whatsapp: 08084662181

These are brilliant ideas baba ( ideas just full every where for this thread), but please don’t forget to include the overnight workshop into your plans. Even if it will come at a different cost (so far it is friendly to a length) some of us will always opt for it

I just got the most polite and respectful call from a Rider since I started this hussle, now I am scared, cos from experience there is almost always a catch or price to be paid when a rider is extremely/extraordinarily nice.
I came for TB Joshua's burial program and I am ready to go back home, I set destination and in less than 3mins a trip enters PU: Liasu road, Destination: Ogba
Was about calling when her call entered and she sounds all respectful and polite then excited when I told her I was coming. Ikotun to Ogba shouldn't be a route she will find difficult getting a car so I am wondering...
Like Bazz001 and Felicity will say, to be continued. I will keep u guys posted when the trip is over. The road to her place is not so bad, so am only 80% scared now grin

Lol. Anytime I hear stuffs like, ‘Hello sir’
What first comes to mind is (you have a delivery you want me to help out with abi) and I’m mostly correct.
The ones I hate are the ones that will call you up like this:

Rider: Hello sir
Me: Hello
Rider: please sir, how close are you to so so...(usually an eatery) same as pickup
Me: I’m just by the corner I’ll be there in a minute
Rider: Perfect! I don’t know if you have some cash on you, I want you to help me get food and bring it to destination (I usually don’t even wait till they finish their statement)
Me: (like is this one sick? What the hell he taking me for?) the gentle man in me wouldn’t allow respond that rudely but then, they normally feel the heat and run off.

But what’s shocking is, I’ve received like 2 of those kind of call this week alone (meaning it’s on the rise). Making me wonder if some drivers actually do run such errands

I’d be disappointed to know if anybody does man

Guys, as a partner-driver, just like u enjoy all your earnings without remitting to anybody, u are also soley responsible for all repairs and maintainance cost of your car.
But my question this morning is which is more painful, between the cost of repairs and the loss of income due to repairs downtime?

I consider repairs alarming and inevitable cost

So the downtime loss Baba anyday, anytime and twice on Sundays.
Imagine your car ball joint (5k-7k should fix this) comot on a Sunday morning. Then It took out the whole day because you couldn’t get a mechanic to work on it on time.

We all know you’d make more than 7k working full day on a Sunday

Greed for this hustle no be am o

I had a couple of work related runnings to do in the morning, got so occupied that I skipped breakfast. Around 12:00 I started driving, I thought to make a little cash before going to eat, besides I prefer eating at Yakoyo and I’m no where near it’s axis ( would have requested for destination trip but I was having just 1 left and that’s reserved), so make I continue driving till a trip takes me to Lekki phase 1

Around 3:40 pm a ride took me to studio 24 side, phase 1. At this point my tommy had begin to make some funny funny noises.

While on the trip I clicked on ‘stop incoming requests’. ( a part of me wouldn’t actually mind a trip to Yayoko or it’s surrounding gangan, but I was too hungry to give it a second thought) Got to destination, rider paid, I clicked on ‘confirm price’ (Oh no! I shouldn’t have done that). But Just before I could quickly slide on ‘go offline’ my phone rang, a new trip entered with a 1.4 multiplier, destination: Yakoyo, pick up: the next street to where I was (ahn ahn isn’t God wonderful?)

I was just sitting there in my car imagining how I will do justice to the Amala and Goat meat. Like 3 mins later these fresh boys stormed out of their hotel, easy pickup (at this point I was already feeling lucky). So I started the trip then boom!!

I saw 42min to destination. What?? (I could literally feel my brain expanding in my skull). I couldn’t believe my eyes nor trusted the map, so I take speed enter the bolt app. Then I saw almost the same time of completion (there, it dawned on me that these guys had probably added a stop)

With a very serious face I asked ‘bro abeg where una dey go?’ He said Yakoyo but they quickly want to pick an item up somewhere in Lagos island (for my mind ehn? I don slam the guy head for dashboard and throw am out through the door window)

Long story short, na now I just dey take my breakfast!

Sure.

My point here is to clear pearl1910 that you don't need do an offline before bolt will block you. That you requested for an offline alone is enough reason to block someone.

If they had investigated, they would confirm that I didn't even embark on the ride. Both online and offline. But they still blocked me.

I think what he meant was, if you had taken another trip online immediately after that incident then, it won’t look as fishy hence you might not be penalized

Oya sorry no vex my guy.... Shuuu! na so I take dey vex self.

Next time what I expected of you since you don't wanna go on the trip is to cancel b4 she comes out while you wait for another request. If she meets u up there simply tell her to request another ride because you'd just cancel.

No need dragging with all these daughters of jezzebel anymore... If you like teach them a hard lesson they'll still never learn.

I cancelled on one 2nights ago... A set destination to AE, I was at CMD road when I got the request and this lady was off Adeniyi Jones...@about 11:25pm, I gave it a tot and was even the one calling her her all tru and she said she was ready not knowing this girl was having doubt I may not come. As for me I'm a man of my word.

Got to pu she was not ready neither was she out for 15min paid time. I called again, "if I don't c u in 1min I'll cancel" maybe she tot I was joking and exactly 1min after i cancelled.

She called she was outside but asking me to drive to her... You know how difficult it is with women and descriptions... Very bad... They can c u but don't know which direction they want You to drive towards.

Finally bros the road was bad so I stopped right in front of her and she sat at the back seat.

Me: madam I've close pls req another ride unless you'll pay me 2k fro this trip.

She: so you know you can't go why then allownme to come out na this is unfair ooo.

Me in my mind "life is actually unfair.

She came down n I zoomed off.

But one mind says I'm foolish and then other order said its integrity. I told her 1min and that's it. So i do not regret it, but if I kept saying no problem no problem abd I still waited and then cancelled after rider showed up then I'm foolish because what is then point and how many times do I have to do this before my account gets blocked or I exhaust my fuel driving to PU and ending up calling?

My tolerance to dishonesty is so below par bro, this has been one of my strongest prime mover and it works in my favor almost every time, I’d repeat this same process to prove a point to any dishonest person that crosses my part (and whatever that springs out afterwards, I would never regret my action)

I already voiced my displeasure, other peeps sef don add voice and you already acknowledged your wrong too ( besides I can’t say no to a Pope na). Baba I don rest my case abeg, it’s all love over here

Sure that's the ideal thing to do, and most times these riders calculate when they will be ready and calculate the time it will take driver to arrive so they do their plus and minus, this particular case looks like a calculation gone wrong. More emphasis on her conduct, she apologized which means she knew she was wrong, what else would you have her do?

I don’t agree with this bro. I’ve seen quite a number of Uber diaries on you tube and most of the times the rider is shown standing by the road side waiting at pick up, I think that is how the system was designed to be. Although some of we drivers also need to do more, by been honest and more precise with how soon we can arrive at pick up, so we don’t keep our riders waiting (a lot of drivers are found wanting in this)
