Science/Technology / Re: Solar Energy Installations In Nigeria - Welcome To 24 Hours Electricity by SolnergyPower: 12:29pm On Nov 20, 2018
a. Depends on the make of the charge controller, else it should be 2 series, 1 parallel (2S1P). So controllers can take straight parallel.

b. Choice of 16mm cable is because of a better harvest. 10mm would have been okay too.

Note: The longer the distance of the panels from the charge controller the thicker the cable should be.

Successdude:

Please the 4 solar panels, would it be in parallel or series. Because 200w in series gives same current.

And why the choice of 16mm cable

I don't think so. Mine happened all of a sudden.

I've driven other vehicles but never had that issue. The closest I had was when the throttle cable disengaged from the throttle pedal. This is also bad but not as stuck throttle.

You may ask your mechanic to be checking your throttle cable once in a while. On your own, if you notice anything, please have it fixed immediately.

dancok:
yes, that's what my car is using, now am scared, pls is this problem peculiar to them(throttle by wire)?
Travel / Re: Which Of These 6 Things Is The Scariest When Driving? by SolnergyPower: 9:33pm On Oct 10, 2018
Throttle by wire(cable). This cable runs from the throttle pedal to the engine around the injector head.

dancok:
is ur car a drive by cable, that's it is it automatic throttle or throttle by wire, i think u understand me.

When it happened the first time, I was approaching a military blockage(drums filled with sand) when I suddenly realized that my break wasn't working and it was raining! Because other vehicles were already queuing to enter into the check point, I ran straight into those blockage drums pushing two for about 20 metres or so.

My vehicle had serious damages but the engine still started and I drove it for about 30 minutes to have it worked on. I spent the rest of that day till about mid day the following day to get the vehicle to a manageable state. Everything appeared fine because the break was working now though the break wasn't fixed.

I continued my journey the next day and then it happened again on a highway! This time around, I had space and enough time to think, I engaged break, no way, I then tried pulling the throttle pedal up with my foot, I realized that didn't work too. Still in motion, I quickly engaged Neutral, then turn off the vehicle ignition, that slowed down the vehicle till I was able to engage park. I started the vehicle again but by this time, the vehicle was seriously throttled down with loud sound, I opened the bonnet and manually depressed the throttle head on the engine, and it stopped. Tried starting it again but still the same. I was towed to a mechanic to have the throttle cable replaced.

One funny thing about this stuck cable was I never had a warning, it happened all of a sudden and the damage caused cost me hundreds of thousands to fix.

Learning from that experience, I have stopped trying to approach objects for fun with intends to hold sudden break because, throttle cable may get stuck! grin grin

dancok:
what did u do in the case of that 2, wanna learn.

I've experienced 1 and 2.

2 was scarier because I didn't figure out what it was even after ramming into a military blockade when the throttle got stuck! I thought it was break failure.

It was when it happened again that I realized what caused it in the first place.

We've learnt a lot on how to manage 1 but rarely talk about 2.

From experience, those bars don't usually give the real state of the batteries. You may need independent testing.

In the meantime,

Do you notice any drop in your backup time?

How long have you been using the batteries?

Thanks.

At 5 bars, what voltage was it?

garbamaza:
Good morning Guru in this house, I am currently using 2.5kva 36v luminous inverter with 3 pieces of 12v 150a batteries but mostly my batteries voltage drop from full (5 bars) to 3bars ie 38.3v even without any load.
Please, help me with advice.
Thanks.

If you have shopped long enough in that village, you must have a swindling story to tell!

I offered my phone for sale around 2003 or so, to add funds and get a new one. One guy promised to sell it for me, the guy sold the phone, collected the funds right in my front and says let's go and look for the phone I want to buy while he's still holding my funds.

After walking for a while, the guy hooked up with other two guys and voom, they jumped on okada and made away with my money!

I lost old phone and couldn't get a new one that day because the funds I had left couldn't get a new one.

Thank you sir for your patronage.

I'm glad you're enjoying your investment in Sunshine Solar Panels!

efuro:

Nigerian firms and warranty issues.

My experience with SOLNERGY

Few months ago when sunshine solar modules
were looked down upon as 'no where to go' when doing serious solar installation. I placed order for four 150w modules
Unfortunately there was a mixup by the boy in the store, I was supplied 3 -150w plus 1-130w receiving the items I made a complain and was promised a remedy in my
next purchase. So I installed them. About 4 weeks after i noticed, I considerable drop in harvest after running a trace, I discovered the 130w was burnt
I removed and contacted SOLNERGY hoping to hear "no bi me do am now?". Therefore I was surprised when I was asked to send the picture which I did. behold I was sent a new 150w through a driver and told to forward the damaged 130w.

In another occasion, I placed an urgent order for 3 panels of same 150w, it was sent by haice bus. Sadly 2 got broken when it was delivered. I contacted SOLNERGY who spoked with the driver to send to them back using their NURTW vehicle returning back, I got fresh delivery a week later and by then my sense of urgency had died.

My fellow diy, pros or marketers, I am not related to SOLNERGY, I am not in anyway advertising them, am just encouraging dealers in the house to take warranty issues seriously as they take their profits margin seriously. Many solar dreams are dead and many more are scared due to bad installation/ irredeemable warranty issues. I know Nigerians will get it right some day.

In a related development regarding sunshine modules, I recently acquired ten 300w modules (3kw) for my upcoming upgrade. Presently I don't have money to complete roof mounting so today I decided to test 4 modules (2x2) arranged carefully placing them on benches. I never expected the result I got more or less from sunshine PV modules. Imagine getting 1,170w from 1,200w (98%) despite darker clouds and rain droplets.

This under rated PV modules is really value for money 'at last' for me. I don't feel 2nd tier anymore.

Kindly check the snap shots below. Am happy and wish all solar lovers enough juice & happy days ahead.

Thank you for your time and i look forward to hearing similar experiences for the benefit of those hoping to joined RE/AE stuff.
