Gbawe: No surprise. Folks like you don't do established history and you are certainly not honest or upright enough to hold intelligently factual discussions where recent past occurrences proves or disproves viewpoints. There is no place in the world, perhaps except Nigeria, where previous proven repeat behaviour is not used to predict how folks are likely to act.

Is it today GEJ has done desperately despicable things for anyone to believe this is beyond him? Dude, the entire world knows GEJ and his antics. Stop sounding as shameless as the man who just gave a pardon to Alams so he could have another political ally in a 'useful' office all in pursuit of operation 'sit tight 2015'
Amala politics.
Instead of him to give us proof that what he is spewing is not mere rhetorics,he is busy appealing to sentiments and throwing around conspiracy theories.
Yeye.

Never fails..
go to hell with your paranoia.
I was only trying to understand why an igbo person would have an unusual interest in the affairs of a tribal party like ACN.
My curiosity has been satisfied by the answer i have gotten on this thread.

berem: Fasheun should shut the hell up! where else does he want to get money to resuscitate UPN? Why is he lying? it's so sad that ACN which is the pride of Southwest politics will now be divided because of the selfishness of OPC. It is time for Yorubas to stand up and don't let Jonathan use Fasheun to destabilize the unity of the Southwest.
ACN the pride of the SW?
I never knew.
Besides, when did this your pro-ACN/yoruba stance began?
I would like to know.

nagoma: So the gross lack of capacity to understand and rule the country exhibited by a southerner GEJ is all caused by the north? Why can't he show the much hyped education and civilization and move the country forward? A dumb president with nothing to offer is the best the south could present. A so called PhD who doesn't know his left from his right. That is a southern president for you.Presiding over the most monumental corruption seen anywhere in the world.
STFU.
A president just into 3 years of his tenure is responsible for Nigeria's decay?
Your Northern people are the ones that destroyed this country by looting us dry and institutionalizing corruption.
The system is only becoming transparent in GEJ's time,as more deeply rooted dysfunctionalities are being exposed.
We will not allow you guys drag us back to the stone-age.
Politics › Re: Boko-Haram: FG Needs Amnesty From Us Not Contrary by solomon111(m): 3:02pm On Apr 11, 2013
aikuda: Boko Haram is being smart on this one. I think GEJ and his team know what they are doing, at least on this case. They had to accept the call for amnesty just to humor such advocates. They know that Boko Haram CANNOT accept amnesty. They will have to show their faces to accept amnesty, right. How do you grant amnesty to a "ghost," as GEJ said before. But I guess to satisfy the advocates for amnesty and to not appear to be the problem as some northern leaders are hoping for, he accepted the call and pretended to play along.

Any sensible person would know amnesty is trap that Boko Haram cannot accept. That is not how their operation works. This is not Niger Deltal militants that have some identifiable objective and are willing to meet with the government. Boko Haram is based on an impossible ideology that requires faceless acts of terrorism. At least the northerners cannot blame GEJ for not granting their wards amnesty now!

People have to look at the big picture to understand the mind games going on.
Thank you for this excellent analysis of the situation.
The Northern leaders are being caught in their own web.

The General: In return, Nigeria will lift the ban on import of 153 commodities into the country. Ghana to a large extent is the winner!
Nigeria is not lifting the ban on anyother products.
They will only allow ghana supply a fixed quota of cement per year,to calm them.
Dangote will never allow Nigeria to fully open her market to ghanaian cement.
We are a cement exporting country.

The Ohaaneze chap spoke from an informed position not theory. I remembered travelling from Lagos to Maiduguri in the Ninties arriving maiduguri by 2am.

seanet01: Now we now know the real traitors.
The real traitors are showing face,
Those who voted against the inclusion of the secession clause at the 1954 Lagos constitutional conference only to turn around to blame Great Awo for their failure to secede are now showing face.
Now we are seeing the traitors.
shut the hell up.
Your leaders already proposed the amnesty long before ohanaeze gave their endorsement.
Infact,i feel the reason why GEJ is finally capitulating to northern demand for amnesty is because of pressure from the south-west.
If ohanaeze are traitors, then yoruba leaders are super-traitors.

yes,i agree that Nigeria cannot continue the amnesty way.
Personally,i don't like it,unfortunately we are grossly ill-equipped to deal with this kind of unconventional warfare.
We should develop our intelligence gathering and military as quicky to prevent such from happening again, until then amnesty may be the way to go.
AMNESTY IS NOT RIGHT ,NEITHER IS IT WRONG,IT IS SIMPLY OUR ONLY OPTION.

alj harem: Sir, do you think an amnesty would stop boko haram ? Indeed you sound naive to say the least#

Has Amnesty stopped Mend from operating when they are not paid their allowance ? NO

DO you think Nigeria upon how much we are struggling and managing can afford Amensty to faceless non existing individuals with account numbers which would be directed to the sponsors account ?

Do you think to stop terrorism in Nigeria from springing up again, Amnesty is the answer ? LOL
The mend amnesty was carried out very poorly, but atleast it has brought relative peace to the niger-delta,and allowed the army bring down quickly any remaining trace of militancy.
I don't know if bokoharam are faceless or not,but what i know is that the govt should aggressively pursue any opportunity for amnesty.
That should weaken bokoharam and help the army to put down quickly any remaining trace of bokoharam.
You are naive,if you think Nigeria does not have the resources.

vislabraye: The US negotiating with Talibans? I've never heard that b4.
Let's assume US is negotiating with the Talibans, the parameters are different.
Firstly, the Talibans don't reside in US.
Secondly, Osama bin Laden is dead and most of the big chiefs of the Talibans.

Honestly, I'm surprised and disappointed to hear this from Ndigbo. And the Igbos have been in the receiving end of the terrorist attack. You can't kill and American citizen and expect to negotiate with them. Did they not deal with Bin laden at last?
Justice is what is needed. I expect them to call for the heads of BH leaders.
People don't know the consequences of granting amnesty. It means that the perpetuators would go scot free.
yes america settled with talibans, and the Uk with IRA.
Infact the policy of non-negotiation with terrorist is only feasible when you are dealing with terrorist outside your country, because
1)you get to unleash the full strength of your military without worrying too much about casualities.
2)You don't worry as much about reprisal attacks.
You only worry about your citizens outside the country.
3)The negative economic effects are minimal.
The UK were smart enough to dump that policy.

amnesty for boko haram means nigeria would be declared an islamic state. what else would we put up with? amnesty for armed robbers and kidnappers? how did many of you even graduate from secondary school when critical thinking is a challenge for you tools?
will you please cut the insults?
Give us a feasible alternative,if not amnesty?
People like you just stay abroad and talk all kind of unrealistic bullshitt, yet will want to hold the govt to ransom when the next bomb goes off.
Nobody wants to support amnesty, but we have no choice.
Nigerians do not have the patience to endure a prolonged battle with bokoharam.

I don't know what people want GEJ to do.
He has tried the confrontational tactics, yet it has proven abortive.
Nigerians are not patient enough to endure a sustained and long-drawn battle with boko-haram.
Opposition parties are already taking advantage of every terrorist attack to pitch GEJ against the people and portray the govt as ineffective.
Ironically, the only solution the opposition 've provided was amnesty, so the amnesty was a matter of WHEN and not IF.
The next goverment be it from PDP or the opposition, would have granted it,anyway.
GEJ should do what he must in the interest of peace, and i congratulate ohanaeze ndi-igbo for displaying foresight.
Nigerians are tired of dying.
