PapaBrowne:
The typical rhetoric of an internet voter! You are not voting on April 9th!  While you stay in London screaming BB, people here in 9ja are moving from house to house preaching Fresh Air!!
Be there!! Villagers are already being given rice and they would vote enmasse for Jonathan! My advice to you is to match the Jonathan camp rice for rice, kudi for kudi and lace for lace!! Nigeria is 70% rural and PDP understands that!! So all these internet rhetoric would not help you in any way!!
U are right I aint voting in April but let me share with you how me and my 4 friends spent our weekend.

We were at the Heathrow Airport as early as 5 a.m on Friday armed with handbill list of projects executed by Buhari's PTF and by his Military administration. Most of Nigerians travelling back to NIgeria and registered voters and guess what? Most of them already have a new BB 2011 'contract' . We joyfully distributed d handbill begging them to influence 'locked' and overly 'sentimental' minds like u. It was a big success considering the obvious religious inclinations of most of the travellers.

By 10 o clock today we continued our gospel of change at the Airport winning even more converts and meeting more BB fanatics. The most relishing part of it is that most of them are not only registered voters but they have also been following all the atrocities of most clueless, most confused, most incompetent, most dishonest, and above all the dullest president Nigeria has ever produced.

BB 2011 is a phenomenal movement of change that cannot be stopped anywhere in Naija. We are determined to rid this nation of corruption, the perpetrators and beneficiaries. We have resolved to bring dignity back to Aso Rock. We are remain unshakable in our match to victory in April. 100000000 of Jonathans with Police cannot stop us (as we ave demonstrated in Lokoja), in fact plus his corrupt/killing/looting mentors: OBJ/IBB/Ciroma/Atiku they shall all be swept away by the powerful wind of change.,.,.,

PoliticsRe: The Buhari You Didnt Know - For Those Under 30 Years Of Age On NairaLand. by Solomon227(m): 11:00pm On Mar 06, 2011
Time2Think:
Buhari's administration 1984 - 1985

1. Made 53,000 government workers redundant between those years, reducing educational subsidies.

I remembered we use to have what we called bursary back in time. Once you get to higher institution, you get paid your bursary allowance, Buhari put an end to the Bursary Allowance. How many of you supporting him today knows about the bursary allowance. None, you were too young.

2. Reduced the number of local government from 1000 to 301.

How many of you under 30 years of age remember this?

3. Rice, sugar, salf and toiletries became essential commodities, sold at controlled prices.

Before Buhari came to power - a packet of St. Louis sugar used to sell 5kobo while a tin of Peak milk used to sell 15kobo - when he was thrown out in 1985, ask your elders how much inflation jerked up these prices.

4. Buhari expelled 700,000 foreigners- illegal immigrants- , claiming they were a burden on the Nigerian economy.

5. Many notable second republic governors and national assembly members were tried and sentenced to looooong terms of imprisonment, leaving out Shagari and Ekwueme, the head and the vice. Such was the Buhari notion of equitable apportionment of guilt and/or responsibility.

6. Attempted to "crate" Umaru Dikko" back to Nigeria, the British Government un covered the plot and led to a strain between the UK and Nigeria.

7. Death sentence to drug pushers - killed two in the process.

Judicial murder, the execution of a citizen under a retroactive decree. Does Decree 20 ring a bell? If not, then, perhaps the names of three youths - Lawal Ojuolape (30), Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Bartholomew Owoh (26) do. To put it quite plainly, one of those three, Ogedengbe - was executed for a crime that did not carry a capital forfeit at the time it was committed. This was an unconscionable crime, carried out in defiance of the pleas and protests of nearly every sector of the Nigerian and international community religious, civil rights, political, trade unions etc. Buhari and his sidekick and his partner-in-crime, Tunde Idiagbon persisted in this inhuman act for one reason and one reason only: to place Nigerians on notice that they were now under an iron, inflexible rule, under governance by fear.

8. The "NSO" was used to hunt military divisionists, in military tribunals, no jury with constitutional provisions.

9. Long prison terms for tampering with postal stamps, examination mal practices - currency trafficking, illegal produce export etc.

On currency trafficking, Fela Anikulapo languished in goal for years, sentenced under that very draconian decree.  His crime was being in possession of foreign exchange that he had legitimately received for the immediate upkeep of his band as they set off for an international engagement. A vicious sentence was slapped down on Fela by a judge who later became so remorse stricken at least after Buharis overthrow that he went to the King of Afro-beat and apologized.

10. Buhari outlawed strikes and lock outs - no unionism of any kind

11. Decree on national security which enables the security personnels to slam anyone in jail for 3 months, renewable without trial

Speaking the truth was not what Buhari, as a self-imposed leader, was especially enamoured of. Ask of Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor both of whom,  faithful  to their journalistic calling, published nothing but the truth, yet ended up sentenced under Buharis decree. Mind you, no one can say that Buhari was not true to his word. "I shall tamper with the freedom of the press" swore the dictator immediately on grabbing office, and this was exactly what he did.

12. Decree that allows for closing of media houses and cowing of the press if you write anything considered to be negative to government or any of governments personnel or personality.

What precisely was Ebenezer Babatopes crime that he should have spent the entire tenure of General Buhari in detention?  Nothing beyond the fact that he once warned in the media that Buhari was an ambitious soldier who would bear watching through the lenses of a coup-detat. Babatopes father died while he was in Buharis custody, the dictator remained deaf to every plea that he be at least released to attend his fathers funeral, even under guard.

13. WAI brigade- empowered the police to use this to intimidate the populace.

14. Confiscated travelling passports of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Papa Awolowo, denying them their trips abroad

15. the regime's attack on religious leaders, such as "Oba" Okunade Sijuwade, the Oni (king) of Ife, and Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano. The regime placed both leaders under house arrest for six months for an "unauthorized" trip to Israel.

This royal duo went to Israel on their private steam and private business. Simply because the Buhari regime was pursuing some antagonistic foreign policy towards Israel, a policy of which these traditional rulers were not a part, they were subjected on their return to a treatment that could only be described as a head masterly chastisement of errant pupils. Since when, may one ask, did a free citizen of the Nigerian nation require the permission  of a head of state to visit a foreign nation that was willing to offer that tourist a visa.?

16. Buhari need one remind anyone - was one of the generals who treated a Commission of Enquiry, the Oputa Panel, with unconcealed disdain. Like Babangida and Abdusalami, he refused to put in appearance even though complaints that were tabled against him involved a career of gross abuses of power and blatant assault on the fundamental human rights of the Nigerian citizenry.

17. Recall, if you please, the judicial processes undergone by the septuagenarian Chief Adekunle Ajasin.  He was arraigned and tried before Buharis punitive tribunal but acquitted. Dissatisfied, Buhari ordered his re-trial. Again, the Tribunal could not find this man guilty of a single crime, so once again he was returned for trial, only to be acquitted of all charges of corruption or abuse of office. Was Chief Ajasin thereby released? No! He was ordered detained indefinitely.
Thanks for giving us more reasons to support and vote Buhari. You are a Darling *kis.s* *kis.s* *kis.s*

How many buses did NAU took delivery off? Stop lieing.

PDP should construct roads in Awka? Are you serious? Which party rules Anambra?
My honourable brother your likes are the people we are appealing to vote for change.

U actually agreed roads were constructed but not drainage, good? Have you asked yourself if PDP/GEj has achieved an ordinary untared road in this area in their last 12 years of doom?

U also agreed buses were delivered but u kinda disagree on the number but how many buses have been delivered by GEJ/PDP to same place in d last 12 years?

PTF under Mr Integrity was just an agency empowered to impact and the Peoples General made sure he put PTF signature on all the nooks and crannies of this Nation.

Under his leaderships our hospitals have never had it so good. I challenge you to visit a govt hospital close to u and start counting how many PTF signature you will see. Buhari's PTF touched almost all the higher institutions in this country constructing edifices, supplying books and study materials.

Nigeria has never witnessed the kind of aggressive construction of roads throughout the Nation during Buhari's PTF.

Somebody shuld please list the roads GEJ has constructed from 1999 to 2011 ?

Calls for 'total' Sharia in Nigeria
2001-08-27 21:32

Lagos - A former military ruler of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has called for the introduction of 'total' Islamic law across the country, reports said on Monday.

Buhari, who ruled Nigeria from a coup in December 1983 to his ouster in 1985, told a seminar in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, at the weekend that the strict Islamic law code known as the Sharia should be introduced in full across Nigeria.

"I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria," Buhari said, quoted in press reports.

"God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country," Buhari said.

http://www.news24.com/xArchive/Archive/Calls-for-total-Sharia-in-Nigeria-20010827

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When words are uttered like that, I can never take him seriously. The man believes in Sharia and that is one of many reasons why I can't support the man.

I'll take my chances with GEJ.
PoliticsRe: Wahala Dey Oh! Buhari Leads On All Polls by Solomon227(m): 12:53am On Mar 04, 2011
EzeUche_:
If GEJ loses, just think of what will happen in the Niger Delta. I shutter to think what will happen next.

I am more afraid of Buhari than GEJ. Buhari believes in Sharia and that is something no candidate in a secular nation should believe in.
Buhari was a military head of states with maximum power to introduce sharia he never did because that has never been his desire. There was no single religious clash throughout his reign as the head of states. He consistently refuted the propaganda that he hates xtians.

I challenge you to come with a documented evidence where Buhari has publicly or privately shown disdains for xtians and christianity.

If he was a bigot like some of you still belive he would not visit almost all the Churches in Lagos and other southern states to tell them he never hated xtianity. He even chose a running-mate from the vineyard.

My brother open your eye. Why do u think IBB, Atiku, Ciroma , and others (all moslems) are finding it difficult to support him? He is simply not interested in who and what you worship but asking you to give him a chance to pull this nation out of d dungeon PDP has plundered us into over years.

Will I vote 4 GEJ simply because he is a xtian like me? No because I know he gave out his plane to a day-light murderer, he visited a convicted looter and hosted a welcome party for him , he imported dust-bin from UK, he has almost finished all the foreign reserve with nothing to show for it.,.,.,

danjohn:
Thanks 9ijaMan, eku_bear, and agabaI23.  9ijaMan the reason why I gave Jonathan the numbers I gave him in Lagos is because there seems to be a perception in the Christian community in the South West that the presidency is Mr. Jonathan's destiny.  They feel like it is divine.  That in itself puts him in a decent position.  I guess I should have separated Lagos, however, for the South West, South South, South East, we can only judge things based on "perception" for now.  Thus, that is why I gave each state the same margin.  Hopefully we can get some scientific polling soon.  NOI has yet to publish any polling about this race.  It will really help if they did.

agabaI23 please post your updated version of the file as an attachment.  As for 2003, I only used 2003 to measure Buhari's support in the North.  Buhari won 11 states in 2003.  I am assuming that ANPP did not have the political muscle to rig in the states where Buhari won, thus, 2003 will be a decent reflection of Buhari's popularity in the North.  In the Southeast, Southwest, and Southsouth.  I tried to make educated guesses.
Nice job bruv, u beat me to this. I actually prepared a similar spreadsheet but was to having problem sharing it.

GEJ/PDP stands no change in Lagos this year at all. Reasons:

* Unlike 2003 & 2007 PDP candidate is totally unpopular
* GEJ has made a very big gaffe in Ibadan and trust ACN they wont stop reminding Lagosian of his statement
* Most Lagosians are educated (from all parts of Nigeria) and they vote based on conviction and performance
* GEJ is regarded as dull, uninspiring, lacking leadership charisma and more importantly dishonest by most Lagasians
* The PDP rally of today is a sign of what to happen to PDP in Lagos April, they have never had it that bad in Lagos
* Fashola has warmed himself to the hearts to most Lagosians and most people will just concatenate to ACN from wards to Presidential ballots
* The Bakare factor on the Buhari ticket is going to play-out as many independent minds that would have voted GEJ on religion sentiments will be giving their votes to Bakare.

Its a shame GEJ did not live to our expectations leaving us with know choice that to follow the best out of the pack.,.,.,

Good question. Is it possible for Jonathan to visit kirikiri prison at 3am and the press did not get the info? Too much mud slinging just to give him a bad name. All GEJ haters, you cant do anything to change the plans of God for Nigeria come 2011.

GOOD LUCK NIGERIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The same GEJ that gave his presidential plane to fly an accussed murderer from Prison to Abuja. Is it not the same GEJ that went cap-in-hand to beg IBB in Minna to stand-down out of the presidential race? The same man vindicating OBJ and co from Halliburton bribery case. He is ready to do anything, including sacrificing innocent lives, to get supports and votes. His wife was there to welcome George in the day so how difficult would it be 4 a man of questionable xter like GEJ to visit a colleague in looting business in the dead of the night?

You shuld realise Mr Integrity had the opportunities of enriching himself 4 times with Billions but he did not so do not expect US to throw a fanfare like PDP who have been looting the treasury to fund their rallies but Buhari is a trademark money cannot buy and Bakare is a feather to the cap of Mr Integrity.

Like someone has already pointed out to you earlier people are ready to pay to see Buhari in Kaduna where inspite of GEJ bribes they still walked out on me. In the North-East GEJ was welcomed with stones in Nassarawa which is one of supposed PDP strongholds.

Buhari is a name synonymous to poverty alleviation among talakawas. He represents the disciplined society we the so called educated southerners crave for. his track records speak volume of his abilities and he has never wavered as a exemplary leader with a purpose.

JUO check out the people campaigning for BB something is common with all of US we are driven by purpose, we are not quitters, we are all, probably achievers in our different life endeavours. Few months ago GEJ fans controlled NL, facebook and Nigeria village square, few weeks to elections the same fans are for Buhari-Bakare.

GEJ has consistently been making unpardonable flaws in his desperation to return to Aso Rock and mots reasonable young Nigerians are seeing he is just another dishonest mediocre.

PDP has not won. A few months ago I was GEJ fanatic with my friends but today we have seen the light and are vigorously campaigning for BB. In a free and fair election GEJ cannot beat Buhari. Without our supports Buhari won 9 Northern states against the Chief election rigger himself (OBJ). With many more southerners falling in luv with Mr Integrity and our resolve to defend our votes BB will surely carry the day come April 2011.
