CAF U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles ArriveIn Casablanca For One Week Camping

Nigeria’s U20 boys, Flying Eagles have now settled down in Morocco’s commercial and economic capital, Casablanca for a one-week final training camp ahead of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations starting next week Saturday in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Head Coach Isah Ladan Bosso and wards are staying at the Novotel Hotel in Mohammedia, just outside Casablanca, and the head strategist is upbeat about the readiness of his boys to sustain their winning mentality when the tournament kicks off in nine days.

“We have been able to sustain the same mood we had in camp before going for the WAFU B U20 Championship in Niamey, which we won. Since then, we have played a series of matches and scored plenty of goals, and that is immense for a winning mentality to stay within a team.

“However, we are not going to under-rate any of our opponents. Defeating Zambia in Abuja was good for confidence but we know championship mood would be tougher. We will be ready to do the country proud.”

Nigeria’s first match of the campaign, as they attempt an eighth continental title, will be against Senegal’s Cub Lions at the Cairo International Stadium starting from 9pm Egypt time on Sunday, 19th February. The Flying Eagles, two-time FIFA World Cup runners-up and one-time bronze medallists, will then face hosts Egypt on Wednesday, 22nd February (same time and same venue) and Mozambique on Saturday, 25th February (same time and same venue).

All four semi-finalists at the 12-team championship in Egypt will qualify to fly Africa’s flag at the FIFA U20 World Cup finals to be staged in Indonesia 20th May – 11th June this year.

Nigeria’s 21-man Squad for Egypt 2023 U20 AFCON:

Nathaniel Nwosu, Augustine Njoku, Solomon Agbalaka, Daniel Daga, Abel Ogwuche, Daniel Bameyi, Rilwanu Haliru Sarki, Nicholas Jonathan, Ahmed Abdullahi, Muhammad Aminu, Ibrahim Muhammad, Benjamin Frederick, Emmanuel Uchegbu, Onuche Ogbelu, Jude Sunday, Akanbi Saheed Jimoh, Ayuba Francis Abubakar, Samson Lawal, Olamilekan Adams, Caleb Ochedikwu, Chijioke Aniagboso

Super Eagles Don’t Need You- Algerians Blast Crystal Palace Star Olise For Picking Nigeria Ahead Of Them
Owngoalnigeria Feb 8, 2023 12:45 PM

Crystal Palace star forward Michael Olise has made it clear that he doesn’t see himself playing for Algeria in the nearest future after recent approach by the country’s FA requesting him to pledge his future to them.

Eligible for France, England, Nigeria and Algeria, Olise who is presently a youth international for France has become the case of a tug between the African countries after establishing himself as a regular at Palace this season.

The height of his performance was the freekick goal he scored at the death which earned them a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. That goal again reenforced the belief that the 21 year old is destined for big things in the future.

OGN exclusively gathered that he sees himself as a French international in the future but if it doesn’t happen before the next world cup then he will be open to playing for Nigeria and not Algeria.

” He has a certain attachment to the Nigerian team and that is why he accepted a call up to the team two years ago. He didn’t honour it due to issues and also the sack of the coach but he still has Nigeria in mind, if he doesn’t make it with the French team”, a source close to the 21 year old told OGN.

” His decision to turn down an invitation from Algeria has led to talks of them shaming him that he can’t get into the Nigerian team but I can tell you. If Nigeria come calling at the right time, he will jump at it. Take my words”, he rounded up saying.

There's a certain Butler Oyedeji on Arsenal's bench. Any expose on him? Read that it's his mom who is Nigerian.
Iwobi starting as expected, Iheanacho on the bench as expected but Ndidi back to the bench again. Looks like Soumare has wrestled his shirt from him for now. Hopefully Ndidi bounces back stronger and reclaims his starting shirt. In the last game, Ndidi was subbed for Tielemans, looks like Dewsbury Hall and Soumare are looking like the preferred 2 in the middle and either Tielemans or Ndidi fight for the 3rd middie shirt.
MODIFIED
Ndidi did indeed start the game but was later removed
I'm becoming so concerned about Ndidi being on bench. I hope it doesn't affect his performance with Nigeria

You attention majors on clubs that has Super Eagles players in them.

It shows only one conclusion. The Super Eagles of Nigeria is the team that has your real support, let me just say the national team which also includes the Super Falcons, Golden Eaglets etc
That makes him a patriot na. Many of us who are very busy at work bump into this thread just to see how Nigerian players perform every weekend

Tosin paid for his flight ticket also gifted him match day ticket, this is very very wrong it looks like he’s paying his way to the team (wouldn’t rule out giving him something small too)
The same Tosin who did shakara for Nigeria. So he badly needed international recognition? He didn't live his England dream again? What really did he see?

But to me I feel he will be a plus to the SE. He and Akpoguma can pair at centre back while Osayi and Bassey play at right & left fullback respectively.

It seems Austin Eguavoen visited London of recent to see Tosin Adarabioyo (on request), Eberechi Eze, Malcolm Ebowei, Arthur Okonkwo. Okonkwo told him to talk to his agents if he wants him to play for SE because he wants to focus on club duties.

My question is why the sudden change of mind by Tosin and Eze? What did they see? Okonkwo seems to be weighing his options

Sorry for diverting the topic guys. But I keep wondering how inhumane and inconsiderate most private organizations behave. You work tirelessly for them throughout the year and even in December when you ought to be paid to even celebrate Christmas with your family, they go silent without any reason or even a word. I am so so annoyed right now.

Proud of all the African coaches. Cameroon almost had mutiny in their camp with Onana, but the replacement was excellent today. Whether na 2nd string Brazilian team or 4th, fact is Cameroun became the first African team to defeat Brazil in the WC. So, I hope Cameroon gives Song more time on the job, I believe he would have learned from this experience.

For Ghana, Addo got water out of a rock, they shocked Nigeria by qualifying for the WC and with his limited first team coaching experience he led Ghana to at least record a win at the WC. I hope they give him more time on the job if he still wants to retain it.
Otto Addo has already resigned from being Ghana coach. No need...

And just when we thought the team has evolved with the calibre of players we had, they lost 0-4 to Portugal. Even the home based eagles who lost 0-2 were better.
This is just too painful!
