I love Iheanacho but he really seems to have developed a reputation for coming late to camp in previous recent international windows.

Taking Seniorman things a bit too far. grin
Exactly! This is his first meeting with Peseiro and he wants to leave a bad impression of himself.

I alao noticed that Emmanuel Dennis too pulled out due to i'njury'?

The problem we have in Nigerian football is ignorance of administrators... people who know nothing about d sport running our football.

These people look up to Patrick paschal and Salisu Yusuf as d right personnel to suggest players to foreign coaches who don't know any Nigerian player they can call up in d first place.

Imagine a Salisu Yusuf being d person who suggests players to foreign coaches for invitation... now Compare this scenario to when we have someone like sunday oliseh or Seyi olofinjana or even peterside Idah being at d helm of affairs of d NFF...people like Salisu Yusuf would not even smell that position they currently enjoy.
The NFF elections has been zoned to the north so don't expect Oliseh, Olofinjana or Idah.

I think it's a good thing we are missing the World Cup. We would have gone there and just disgraced ourselves with Eguavoen still leading the team.

Painful as missing it felt, I think being spared the disgrace in the long run is better and gives us a chance to really look at our team and build something really good. Let's hope Jose Peseiro and the team achieve that. Coz it's in their hands more than anyone else's.

As for the bolded... Woah. I wonder where you heard or read this. Shocking if true.
Wow! Nerdie! Longest time!

I am still of the view that we would have made an impact at Qatar with our resurgent, youth, talented and vibrant team. My only fear would have been our goalkeeping department.

This world cup Nigeria will miss is actually very painful. How did our football degenerate to this shallow extent? Aaaahhh!

Meanwhile I just read that Lookman may be axed from the friendly with Algeria because he bluntly refused to be substituted in the 10-0 Guinea Bissau game and Moses Simon was substituted instead. I heard that act didn't go down well with Oga Peseiro.

Was Harmony Achifula’s Exclusion From Flamingos Squad Deliberate?
imotrumpeta.com

Harmony Achifula is a name conspicuously absent from the recent list of 35 players released by coach Bankole to fight for places in the final squad to Under-17 women’s world cup in India in October.

To say she took the Women’s Nationwide league (Nigeria’s female division 3 league) by storm will be a huge understatement; Harmony Achifula, 16 years old, flooded football pitches with breath-taking goals and all round resplendent center forward play in her division and her best is definitely yet to come.

Her pristine and polished performances in her league and low level cup competitions won rave reviews from the following media houses and online platforms: Punch Newspaper, Imo Trumpeta, Sports 247 NG, Remotv.com to mention a few.

Many pundits are already referring to her as the next Asisat Oshoala. But personally, I think they are getting carried away. Performances in division three football aren’t enough for me to make such a bold statement but I think the young lady has a huge, tantalizing future in front of her if her career trajectory and her own decisions and applications continue to navigate her productivity in the right direction.

For the moment, the teen sensation emphatically powered her club, Imo Striker Queens, to the NWFL Championship (the second tier of women’s league) this year, scoring a jaw dropping 10 goals in four games in the Nationwide league in Benin City.

Aside from emerging as top scorer in the promotion competition, she was also voted as the unanimous Most Valuable Player due to the maturity with which she approached her game and the class, quality, beauty and finesse she brought to bear, all of which suggested she would embrace higher level football with consummate ease.

The quality of her output also earned Achifula a cash grant of N200,000 as grants from LIS (Ladies In Sports Organisers).

So, why was Achifula excluded from coach Bankole’s recently released U-17 women’s list for October’s cadet women’s world cup in India?

Nigeria is blessed with many untapped resources in women’s football; Harmony Achifula is just one of them and one of many left out in this U-17 squad.

Also, as much as I wouldn’t want to diminish the level of league where Achifula recently thrived – she is just 16 years old – but her achievements would have been more difficult for Bankole to ignore had it been in the NWFL (division 2).

So, now that Harmony Achifula has gained promotion to the NWFL, it will be nothing short of criminal if she isn’t included in the Falconets squad for next year’s qualifiers for the 2024 Under-20 women’s world cup (provided she is fit and firing on all scoring cylinders).

But what is undeniable is that Harmony’s recent achievements and the league she accomplished these laudable outputs arguably came too early for national team handlers particularly as there are copious talents to pick from across the country and in diaspora.

But, with hard work, dedication, focus, commitment, proper guidance and good decision making, Harmony Achifula may well be the next Mercy Idoko, Flourish Sabastine or Esther Onyenezide.

It is way too early and much too premature for me to even attempt to compare her with the humongous Asisat Oshoala at this stage, Harmony has a long, long way to go yet (and many people to convince and many obstacles to overcome) to even attain the level of the recent U-20 Falconets strikers.

Meanwhile, three (3) members of Heartland Queens Football Club of Owerri were invited to participate in the ongoing preparations towards the Under 17 female world cup scheduled to hold in India come October 2022.

The players who will train alongside 32 others are, Onyechere Uchechi ( Goal keeper ) , Ekezie Dikachi ( Defender ) and Lucky Mary ( Attacker )

Recall that the three players actively participated in the last National Women Football League ( NWFL ) That earned the Heartland Queens Football Club a well deserved promotion to the premiership .

In a Press Statement released to Sports Journalists by the Head Coach Mr Bankole Olowokere , he stated that quality players drawn from various club sides have been formally invited to put on Nigeria’s National Colours at the forthcoming Under 17 global female football fiesta to be hosted by India in the last quarter of year 2022 .

Under the Captainship of Alvin Dah– Zossu ( first choice goalkeeper) , other invited players are; Faith Omilano , miracle Usani , Blessing Sunday , Comfort Folorunsho Tumuninu Adeshina as goal keepers .

Blessing Emmanuel and Taiwo Afolabi as Midfielders while forward liners Opeyemi Ajakaiye and Aminat Bello are also amongst those invited to report with their training kits at the Serob Legacy Hotel Abuja latest 30th August , 2022 without fail, their International Passport and medical certification are inclusive .

In their qualifying matches, the Flamingos subdued their opponents from DR. Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia and won five out of six soccer encounters .

While the WAFCON finals is on going in Morocco, an integral member of the Super Falcons said if the Super Falcons are to do anything meaningful at the world Cup then Randy must be sacked, she also made it clear that Super Falcons in the next 2 years under Randy Waldrum's leadership will be the worse team in Africa.

"Super Falcons in the next 2 years under Randy leadership will be the worse team in Africa, The NFF are so comfortable with Randy, that man is here to destroy this team, we don’t learn anything from training, what ever show we put up on the field is because we’re good individually and we understand the task "

The Falcon also echoed the thoughts of many Nigerians that the American college coach has added nothing to the most successful team in women's football in Africa.
"We have very good players (individually) but no coach to make us a better team" .
