Me just tire, first I thought Ogu was truly bad and I was having a wrong notion until I decided to even reverify my stands on him. realpoacher: Abeg leave that guy make e dey shout "work output" "work output". It's like he has a personal beef with Ogu.
Of what use is work output if you are 2 goals down? By then all you will need is goals to atleast equalize. From strikers, midfielders or defenders. Anywhere.
The guy is not offense minded. |

Meaningless? What is meaningful then? It's no longer his SE performance, it's now his professional performance that counts? Should we read out stats too? You want to see that too? Is there no tendency you will also jump ship when the stats don't favor your bias? To be clear, I am not saying Onazi is a bad player only proving to you that Ogu is not a bad player either and shouldn't be downgraded like some of you are doing. tbaba1234: Go back to my first post.. All of these stats on Ogu are meaningless because he has not played enoughThe tackling, the goal scoring etc for the super eagles.. All meaningless. The rash tackle comment was made in that context.
However, we can look at his career stats which indicate that he does not score many goals and he will not give you, the work output of Onazi or Ndidi.
Now, he has a lot to offer but let us not make him to be, what he isn't. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 5:57am On Nov 13, 2017 |
This is wrong, 3 yellow cards in 4 starts? Haba. 2 was from friendly matches which is inconsequential. Onazi got one from friendly and 5 from competitive matches, Ogu only got one in all competitive matches he has played. To label Ogu a rash tackler is wrong, he's not worse than Onazi. tbaba1234: Onazi has started far more games. You can not compare absolute figures, that is disingenuous. You must look at ratios.
Ogu is accumulating cards at a faster rate. 3 yellows in 4 starts in not good discipline.
In terms of minutes, Ogu has 1 yellow card every 196 minutes played Onazi has 1 yellow card every 594 minutes played
This is not necessarily a fair comparison because he has not played much. Just like making a goal machine is not an accurate assessment.
He keeps the ball well but he is not a great scorer. I never said Ogu was a "great" scorer but better than his counterparts in that position when it comes to conversion. Mikel Obi has played 72 times for us, 6 goals, 12 assists and 10 yellow cards. Ogu remains the highest goal scorer per time spent among the listed names. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 5:50am On Nov 13, 2017 |
Going forward
44 matches, 1 goal, 2 assists for Onazi 13 matches, no goal or assist for Ndidi 12 matches, 2 goals no assist for Ogu 4 matches, no goal or assist for Agu
Both Ogu and Agu played mostly as Subs.
Now imagine it was Ogu that was playing in and out like Ndidi or Onazi, don't you think he's likely to score more goals and assist too?
Talking about adding to the attack here. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 5:37am On Nov 13, 2017 |
Onazi has played 44 times for us, 6 yellow cards and 1 red card Agu played 4 times (all sub) with 1 yellow Ndidi 13 times with no card Ogu 12 times with 3 yellows (more than half as sub). So how is Ogu the worse here? Agu remains the worse per time spent on the pitch, the red card given to Onazi is worth 2-3 yellow cards cos it was a straight red against guinea abi na Congo self. tbaba1234: In 4 starts, he has 3 cards.
He has about 12 caps, most of which were as a sub. 2 of the 3 cards to Ogu were in a friendly match. 1 of the 6 cards to Onazi was from a friendly. So competitively, Ogu got one card, 5 for Onazi and 1 for Agu |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 5:21am On Nov 13, 2017 |
Rash tackles? How many times has he been carded in the last 3-4 matches he played to us compared to Agu, Onazi and ndidi? Can you check? tbaba1234: 3-4 games is not a long enough time to assess. In that period, he has also been prone to rash tackles as evidenced by the frequency of cards.
I base my assessions on his professional record. He is not a Lampard that scores goals regularly. It is important that this expectation is tempered. |

It beats me that people don't see this. Infact let them watch the matches ighalo played and that of iheanacho again. But then some people's mind already made up on what hey want to see even before the TV switches on. komekn: It was the pressing of Ighalo in the game against Cameroon that set the tone for that win in my opinion.
Those Cameroon defenders were bullied into making mistakes and made to be disorientated by Ighalo. KC can not do that. He can even win the aerial battles he simply not that the of player.
Closing down the spaces limiting the passing options for defenders playing from the back yes. But pressing with impact no for me.
My first choice STRIKER is for now IGHALO |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 4:54am On Nov 13, 2017 |
Lol, iheanacho that fell more than 3 times in 90 mins is the one to press ball holding defenders like he's known for that? Keep up the hype boss lol. TheGoodJoe: Simple. Argentina will build from the back. Ball-playing defenders is part of their game. A player like Ighalo can not bully defenders who can hold and pass the ball. Bullying comes from when strikers and players are fighting for balls. Not when the opposition is building play.
In that respect, the striker best as pressing, is the best solution. Watch how useless Lukaku was against Liverpool.
Our best bet is to start Iheanacho who is best at pressing.

John Ogu is not a regular scorer. The fact that he scored a few days back does not mean, he will give you goals all the time. |

Well I'm not among the "all", the coach is in charge, he will decide who goes or plays come Tuesday bro. We all want the best. Kayode is still in the system, Osimhen to me should wait his time. Kog45: OK O I don agree one more trial but when Kayode had 15 mins against SA we all said Rohr have seen him enough,no more invitation, when Osimhen had a comeo appearance we said he was too young
But Nwakaeme need another trial, when Kayode is on the bench looking for another opportunity. Please is Nwakaeme better than Kayode?
Remember Aina came in against Zambia less than 12 mins we all saw what he can do,against Algeria he had a decent game, the same thing Shehu he seized the opportunity when it matter most.Oyekwuru came in against Algeria we all saw the glimpses.Ogu after a long time waiting came in with a goal and MOTM.
Why can't Nwakaeme show his stuff so that we can forget Ighalo, funny enough Iheanacho was pushed to the wing to accommodate him.
Hope he prove me wrong if he had another opportunity against Argentina because guys like Peter Onuachu,Desserts,Osimhen, Awoniyi,Umar Sadiq are waiting to impress. |

Ok we agree to disagree. SerVik: Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I like Ighalo and he remains my choice for the CF role, his hold up play, ability to bring teammates into play, his constant drifting that creates holes for the support striker to pounce and his on-ball movement, ball control edges him over Iheanacho. Iheanacho's first touch is atrocious by the way.
But when it comes to off-ball movements, pressing, positioning, awareness, speed etc Iheanacho bosses him. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Apostle Suleman Replies Daddy Freeze on Tithing Controversy by somehow: 3:57pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
What's with this diversional comment? The thread is on tithe and not seeds. Discuss the topic. Did anyone force you to fast for them? So Jesus that fasted for 40 days and not should request for what in return? So Salvation or prayers/fasting is now by how much you can pay? Stick to the topic. pascal558: where most of u get it wrng is that u dnt knw d difference btwn tithe and seeds....Most pastors live on seeds nt tithes...A persn cn sow seeds worth millions nd that is rare in tithe...So freeze is really clueless like suleman said, cos these pastors fast and pray for people who get results and appreciate with huge seeds nd sum1 cums here to abuse them for their labour Have u ever fasted a day 4 any of ur member,r d beggers u claim should recieve d tithes??Pastors starve themselves for members to get result nd when the appreciat, freeze starts barking...Listen to that guy at ur own peril |

Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 2:10pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
Which is wrong because the 6 SE matches I have watched that entailed both players, Ighalo did more pressing up-front than Iheanacho. You can try watching all our qualifiers again. SerVik: That is what pressing means. When thegoodjoe said Iheanacho presses more than Ighalo, that was what he meant. When I reaffirmed that assertion, that's what I meant. If your coach instructs you to press, that's what he means.
The issue here is just semantics. Your confusion boils from the scenario where one team has a higher possession and we say the team pressed the other.
Truth is, pressing is putting pressure on the opposition with the aim of winning the ball. When guardiola was in Barcelona, we had what was called the 6seconds rule. Everyplayer is expected to win the ball back 6seconds after loosing it. This is a highly tactical high octane play.
Another example is klopp with Dortmund and Liverpool. Those are farfetched examples sef, let's come home. Look at siasia's team at the olympics, take special interest in the first game and you'll see the high pressing approach siasia employed.
A highly possessive side must press. It is the only way to retain possession and prevent the opposition from gaining momentum. At the moment, Ighalo doesn't help in that regard. |

Thank you, I was Abit confused when the conversation turned 360. We were discussing attackers pressing defenders until his comment turned it 360 Mujtahida: It's not difficult to see that pressing causes fouls na. First of all fouls happen all over the football pitch,so why make it look like pressing is the holy of holies which causes no fouls? secondly when the attackers of a team presses the defenders of an opposing team its meant to pressure them(the defenders) and lead them to commit errors which include fouls. |

Chei, I feel you. Humility017: we have never had the best in the domestic league being called as 2nd or 3rd chioce goal keepers for the national team...the case of agbim still fresh in our memory the best goalkeepers in the domestic scene are always bypassed for less ones....
ezenwa is not the best we have in the domestic scene not even first chioce for his club side......but how he kept getting national call ups baffles me...
that plateau United goal keeper is way better and a better ball playing goal keeper....
I think the likes of alampasu and uzoho should be tried...and let see what they have to offer...
I am not in support of keeping them in the bench...same thing keshi did no one ever thought akpeyi was better than agbim... not not until his full debut against south Africa....
I think them all should be given a chance...I have a deep feeling that either of ajiboye, uzoho or alampasu could just steal the show.....
regarding Mikel's replacement....I don't there will be any...for now. same vacuum we had after okocha and kanu retirement we will have when Mikel retires.... until we have a player who will emerge with his own style and skills...
so unfortunate... |
