We are talking about nuclear war here, not just conventional war. China may have a history of recovering from conventional wars but only one Country in history have been on the receiving end of a nuclear bomb attack and that's Japan and Japan has recovered well.

If China should nuke Japan, they will recover too, but the effect of US, France, UK and other allied Nations nukes falling on China will be so devastating that it will spell the end of China on the world map.
