Nateevs, I too have been wondering about Ibime for some time. We definitely have to go on winning matches. I hope Arsenal and ManUtd drops a few points to help us on the way. This is the luckiest season we've had in terms of fixtures. We've lost some good opportunities but I'm sure fans would forgive AG if he wins a trophy this season. |
donchichi:I'm patient and if there's anything I hope is that AG can in fact silence me by wining a trophy. I don't want to be proved right, I want, hope and pray to be wrong. I don't want us to be another Arsenal. 1. I'm happy Arsenal has been silenced, and that is good for ManUtd 2. Yes we are back in the title race but AG got back all his players from injury and had the full squad and management's support at his disposal. We are over JM, we simply point to the fact that JM is a much better manager than the AG who was picked to replace him. If we had SAF as a replacement no one would complain. We would get preferential treatments from Refs and be a happy bunch of people. 3. JM had been in a Nation's cup too remember? JM never had the full squad at his disposal from the time he came into power. It is an open secret that our dropped points over the December / January period (among other) helped Man Utd to the trophy. 4. We did not have a centre forward - Pizarro and Drogba was injured and Shevy . . . oh well we need not talk about that. 5. JM was competent enough to win everything there is to win in club football and oh yes he has a certificate to his name. 6. Whether Grant is indeed a Messiah is yet to be proven. We would know at the end of the season. 7. Your posts just expose your hatred for JM seeing that Chelsea would have been more of a threat for ManUtd with him around. Now all you do is go around screaming how ManUtd has the title and we falling behind in 2nd place. |
Akolawole:Haven't you heard? ALL his critics ![]() DonChichi I have always had low expectations for AG, I would have even been pleased with just the Carling Cup. The guy has made so many errors that hardly justifies him as being a top manager. Still this match does not convince me at all. Arsenal is not even in form. They drew 3 straight matches with mediocre teams in the EPL. Look at Fabregas who is their playmaker, the guy was virtually absent. Hleb, flamini, Adebayor, RVP were neither in the match. The Set piece was the best chance they had in the whole game. Grant made obvious changes and got it right (referring to those that came in) I said that even yesterday but his numerous errors even in this match is yet to convince me about his tactical prowess. I can point all of them out over again but I believe I and Nateevs among others have done so already. We fall well short of silencing ALL critics. . . well short. Did I fail to mention that what saved us in this match was the tenacity of Drogba who by the way has always been a pain in Arsenal's backside? Drogba always looked like scoring through the game. All I need is just a trophy this season and I can endure him for another. We are not Derby, We are Chelsea and we need much more than a win over an out of form rival or why was JM sacked then? |
Noted |
Donchichi I referred to him in that instance of backtracking. Did you not notice that the same guy threw insults at me in that thread and even in this one. And I did not insult him, I joint pointed out what he behaved like in that moment. Ayusman16 I will be as easy as I am addressed. It is not only one person that is allowed to indirectly throw insults is it? Or maybe you need reading glasses |
This is getting ridiculous, Please does any other person understand training session for setpieces. Why must this guy always show his emptiness. There is always a position and a tactics for defending or attacking setpieces. Players are put in cover-making, man-marking positions or at the edges of the post. If this was a one time mistake it would not be AG's fault, but it has been a consistent problem so the the fault is obviously from the training. The positions as I've pointed out before fall short of what they should be. And if Cudicini was going to position himself closer to the other edge then common sense would place a man at the end through which the goal was conceded. Our runs are also late and wrong. We always have our man behind the attacker who is going to head the ball. These issues coupled with concentration are things that can be ironed out in the training session. |
Nateevs Just as I was about to reply I saw yours. You just spat out most of my mind Chinedu Just to add to what Nateevs said, which you should read carefully. This is Chelsea not Derby county. One big win does not SILENCE ALL CRITICS What kind of standard do we have? I have not been wrong about criticizing Grant, neither have those fans. It is an open truth that he has made substitution blunders in big games. And did you by the way look at our defending of set pieces. How can a top manager not be able to fix that in 3 weeks with his full squad fit? JM won all the trophies in England and he still needed the CL and attractive display to silence critics. JM has never lost to Arsenal in his reign. Why should AG be silencing ALL his critics as a result of a win over Arsenal who by the way are not in form. |
akinalabi:You can't have it both ways. You can either talk like the area boys on the streets of lagos or you can approach issues maturely like a true analyst. If you choose to be abusive when we talk about issues then go ahead that way, don't try to be nice and abusive at the same time. I don't know what kind of example you guys on this thread show to the rest of Nairaland. I read from one of you once that abuses show passion and makes the discussion fun. I wonder why I don't get to see the Sports Analysts on TV go around abusing rival analysts, fans or players. Now wont that be something to watch on Sky, DSTV or HiTV (depending on your location). Or maybe if we see couples abusing out each other in real life, we'd take it as an open display of how much passion they have for each other. I don't remember ever using derogatory remarks about your views so at least I deserve the same respect. Besides my point would only be baseless if you can show against my message that there is a rule concerning players approaching the referee and this rule is in fact consistent. You and I know that no such consistency exist, so why should Bennet enforce it a grand slam fixture that by the way aid United's plight? Mind your language bro. |
Grant silenced all his critic today? Some people have lost what was left of their senses. So we have Drogba bailing us out with his 2 beautiful goals and AG can take the glory? Pure nonsense. I guess if we go through the season without a trophy, this idiot thinks AG can look back at this match and say "oh yes I have silenced ALL my critics". Not even JM silenced all his critics with all his trophies. I wonder how some people have the audacity to make posts on this thread. To the more intelligent ones . . . anything short of a trophy this season is a failure on AG's part and an obvious display of his inept tactical abilities. Whether or not he should be sacked is |
Naaaaa, I'd find it difficult to live where the weather is unpredicatable ![]() |
Oh Lagos is terrible, I'm thinking of moving to Kano myself, just the way you did ![]() |
How is Kano? ![]() |
what do you know about marriage? ![]() Abeg go siddon jare ![]() |
I can see why they are grouped together, someone even suggested another name to be added to the list, I think we should do just that ![]() |
Just seeing that for the first time too ![]() I guess the pressure I'm piling on them is working. ![]() We need a level playing field on NL, everyone should have Pix up their profile . . . NO EXCEPTIONS ![]() |
Presido Any ManUtd fan should be the last person to complain about dubious penalty decisions. Where were you when Ronaldo was diving all over the place last season to hand you the EPL title. All Refs needed was to see him on the ground in the penalty area and we'd hear the whistle. On the other hand, opposition players never got to hear that same whistle after career threatening tackles were made on them. Did you also fail to see Ronaldo's dive today inside the penalty area? How come he was not booked for that? That is a clear rule, if you dive you get booked but Steve Benneth some how failed to enforce that rule. The one he enforced was a clouded principle in favor of Man Utd. Torres was getting kicked around the place, when he complains he get booked for dissent which is just ridiculous. How come Ferdinand was not booked either? Ronaldo was protected by the ref because SAF asked for it. How sad! We have a man sent off for questioning the refs wrong decisions. He did not use bad language he just ran over to him to ask him about his decision and gets sent off. We need a whole new set of referees in the EPL. We are tired of these SAF boys. |
Did anyone notice that Ballack was not too happy about being subbed? He just headed straight for the dressing room. I feel him though. What does he have to do to stay on these days? ![]() |
Presido I just want to see some consistency. Is that too much to ask? Lets have a clear rule, so everyone . . . including people like me . . . can understand it and not raise eyebrows.Do we only get to see this rule enforced against opposition at Old Trafford? Let the FA explain it. Akinalabi Do you know the rules of offside? If I had claimed you 2nd goal was a fraction offside you'd have my head now. Tomorrow you'll call me biased abi? |
I agree, We grow much more intelligent and mature than those of your generation ![]() |
I said the exact same thing to a ManUtd fan sitting by me and he claimed I had beef with AG hence my dissatisfaction with that. That's why I did not bring it up earlier. Grant needs to be given lessons in mind games and understanding of rivalry. It's funny that only Grant is an open friend with Wenger. I have no record of any other manager in the EPL that has that kind of relationship with the frenchman. |
My grannie is figure 8, you must need new frames. ![]() I told you not to get those contacts didn't I? ![]() |
No dear, you only know your types . . . losers ![]() Join the blues while you can ![]() And why are you referring my grannie has hex design shape when we all know she has a beautiful figure 8 body ![]() |
Presido1 Please what year was that match. I can't quite remember the events, if you have a link that would be great Besides raising your hands against an opposition player is a direct red card. Now you said trying to slap, what does trying mean? The rule of which game says only the captain should come forward? Is it a principle or a rule? What are the consequences of breaking the rule? Who takes action? The Ref or the FA? I am asking this because in Chelsea's cases we've been hit hard by the FA for so called "failing to control players". Now in this case, the player was sent off by the Ref, isn't that inconsistent? As far as I can tell, there exist so much inconsistency with the current nature of this principle and it was unnecessary for the Ref to act on it in such a game. The FA should come out clear and explain themselves except this is a rule for Man Utd or one against just Chelsea. |
morenike09:I no fit shout o, make I keep the spirit of easter jare . . . ![]() Happy Easter dear |
Then lets see the same punishment for all players and teams not just as a reason to send of opposition at Old Trafford. Lets see it for Rooney, for small teams playing small fixtures. Lets have consistency. |
Presido I have seen a lot of players get away with that. The only exception to this rule is when Chelsea does it they get unnecessarily punished. They should be a clear and consistent principle if not a rule for every player. Not just for those playing against Utd or with Chelsea. The ref would have just told him to step away. He was hardly violent and did it at the thick of the moment. It was purely reactionary and you know it. Which match do you refer to where Scholes was sent of? |
Nateevs, I have friends here so I want to give them a little hope ![]() nateevs:So damn funny ![]() David Well said, very well said ![]() |
Nateevs, To be fair to Wenger, RVP went into oblivion during later parts of the game. He started brilliantly doing what I think he was there for - Taking shots, but I saw little of him as the game progressed. Instead we saw more and more of Arsenal's type of game - passes, attractive flicks and more passes but less shots and less decisiveness. I think Kalou should have been taken off too, I had wanted him out with Maka. Belleti was a good change too. The players he brought in were just the right subs. AG has to make the boys do more work on set pieces during training sessions. I think we're having the positioning wrong. Our guys are always behind the attacker and the ball which is not good at all. Also we should have a guy at one end of the post if the keeper positions himself at the other end. Concentration too has to worked on, our man markers seem to lose their concentration and let their man run free. |
A-40 I agree it is Utd's title to lose now, but lets see how your team would react. Utd still has games against Chelsea and Arsenal so the possibility of dropping points exist. The season is far from over. SAF is a legend though and he knows just how to handle these situations . . . that's the negative ![]() |
It's getting sad the way Refs blatantly support the Red team at Old Trafford. Last season it was dubious penalty decisions for Utd and none against opposition, except when Spurs were four (4) goals down and it was ten minutes or so left on the clock. This season it's sending off players in a grand slam match. First Chelsea, now Pool, both very dubious decisions. I wonder when the FA would actually be bold enough to probe the club and its relationship with officials. Or maybe the FA is part of the whole game plan. Sad! Sad! Sad! |
Software I hear Arsene Wenger is also in charge of their web administration and refused to increase wages of employees ![]() Nateevs Skysports seem to lean towards your direction. Rated Lamps 6.8 saying he was in and out. Drogba is a passionate player and that was very nice of him. I've followed him through his Chelsea career and his only problem is his constant knack at complaining when chips are down but you can always count on him. That was real nice. Anelka was a great sub, he gave the assist for the second goal. I think we need more of the 4-4-2 combo. I dont want to look back but we would have been with a trophy by now and still in the running for the other if Grant had this courage earlier. We have a team with character, all Grant has to do is get the formation right. A lot of folks were criticising JM but what can we say now about the players he got. He built them for efficiency and they have won over a team built for flair and attraction. Drogba is not known for flair, but he does get the goals Common Chelsea ![]() |
