kobonaire: It's about time .... he has been waiting for recognition from the academy for over 20+ years despite so many great performances in various roles. His acceptance speech was amazing, he is one intelligent and articulate individual. An excerpt: "... Let us not take this planet for granted (reference to denial of global warming), I do not take this night for granted (his award)..." your comment is spot on mods I believe this is front page news. |
TV/Movies › Oscars 2016: Leonardo Dicaprio Finally Wins Best Actor by sonofthunder(op): 6:55am On Feb 29, 2016 |
Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won his first Oscar for survival epic The Revenant, after six nominations. He was named best actor at the 88th Academy Awards, with Brie Larson named best actress Oscar for Room. Spotlight took home the best picture Oscar with Mad Max: Fury Road picking up the most awards of the night, with six accolades. Mark Rylance won the best supporting actor Oscar, with fellow Briton Sam Smith winning best original song. Among the winners for Mad Max: Fury Road - which had been nominated for 10 Oscars - was British designer Jenny Beavan, for best costume design. The Revenant won three of the 12 awards it was nominated for. Alejandro Inarritu won best director and Emmanuel Lubezki won his third Oscar for cinematography in a row, having won in 2015 for Birdman and 2014 for Gravity. DiCaprio received a standing ovation as he picked up his award, having had five acting nominations and one nomination as producer of best picture nominee Wolf of Wall Street. He said making The Revenant was "about man's relationship to the natural world". "Climate change is real - it is happening right now," he said. "It is the most urgent threat right now to our entire species and we need to work now. "Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted." As he accepted his award, Inarritu said it was a "great opportunity to our generation to liberate ourselves from all prejudice", saying the colour of someone's skin should be "as irrelevant as the length of their hair". www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-35670715 Cc: seun, lalasticlala, ishilove, riareos , UjSizzle, prof800

Sanchez01: Did the Bible mention that he tithed to God or to Melchizedek as seen in Gen 14:20? Please answer honestly without trying to twist the Scriptures. Melchizedek received tithes from Abraham. now can you try and answer some of my questions. |

Sanchez01: Did the Bible mention that he tithed to God or to Melchizedek as seen in Gen 14:20? Please answer honestly without trying to twist the Scriptures. that means the Israelites never tithed to God (if I should go by what you are saying, in fact its impossible for anyone to do so be it Jacob or anyone). better still maybe I should ask, who is Melchizedek? also when the Israelites tithed, did they tithe to the priests/high priests or to God? |

Sanchez01: I marvel. If Abraham had known God very well like you claim, how come Gen 17:1 does not precede Gen 12:8 and 13:4 maybe Abraham only sacrificed to and sought thin air. |
Christianity Etc › Re: What The Bible Teaches About These Five Church Practices by sonofthunder: 3:48pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
Sanchez01: Where did I mention such? Abraham tithed to a King who doubled as priest. I mentioned Jacob is the first man to tithe and I supplied a reference. You made a comment that Tithing had been before Jacob. With your new question, are you implying that there was Israel before Jacob himself? To your second question, do you tithe to your pastor or to God? Please respond and answer your question yourself. so you do not believe that Abraham's tithe was to God? |
Christianity Etc › Re: What The Bible Teaches About These Five Church Practices by sonofthunder: 3:38pm On Feb 28, 2016 |
Sanchez01: It started with Jacob. Abraham didn't really know God to the level of worship until he was 99 years old (Genesis 17:1). The said tithe he paid was to a king who doubled as a priest and it was never to God. I'd love it if you can share why you think the tithing practice is not archaic and exclusive to the then Israel. Abraham worshipped a God that he knew and had faith in... gen 12:8 and gen 13:4. also when Abraham offered sacrifices unto God, was it because God was hungry and needed food? or why? because I'm terribly shocked by your assertion of Abraham not knowing God to the level of worship. |

Danki: Thank you Jesus!
Sir, why did it take you so long to understand this? maybe because I'm 'slow'. but that's aside... your dream/its interpretation needs serious attention, if it keeps coming over and over its possible there's something you are yet to understand or start doing right. but what ever message that's left will definitely come (either in a dream or any other means), better still you can go to God and tell him "my eyes are ready/willing to see and my ears ready to hear, father unravel/reveal this elusive message to me". but still my first question holds sway, do you know the meaning of the dream(s)? are you absolutely sure you understand the messages in the symbols you see? |

Danki: Sir, I don't want anybody to go soft on me. However, I won't tolerate anybody coming to accuse me of what is not on my mind or who I'm not.
She has all the right and time to face other issues instead of trying to bully me here.
Finally, I'm not concentrating on the girl. That's not why I came here in the first place.
My queston is; should I start ignoring my dreams henceforth knowing that I pay heavily anytime I do?
Note that I don't love this girl anymore, I'm not lusting after her and I don't want to marry her. But just last night's dream, I was introduced to someone else. While with this person, she was at the background wailing. I sent you a reply the other time which never seems to get to you (maybe network issues). if I may clarify... your most pressing issue is more or less a recurring dream which tends to end while you know there's still something or some information left?... (or something like that)... |

Pls, advise me how to get her out of solitude and share your complimentary so I can show her what the public thinks about her. needle... chuk her needle, Lol. the truth is every introvert has got to come out of that shell... the earlier the better for us. ***returns in to the shell*** |

Danki: Not really sir. And that's the reason I'm here.
But if I should take a shot, I would say maybe the girl is beginning to pay attention to the words of God because I told her that even if we are meant to be together that I will never be yoked with an unbeliever again. I will also be attacked by the demons trying to ruin her.
Before I had the dream I narrated above, I had one I wouldn't want to disclose here for identity purposes. I knew that if that heppens, she will run to God like a mad dog. But I'm just so afraid of not accepting her back if its God's wish.
Tell me what you think about the dream. sorry about my delayed reply... I've seen how this whole issue has dragged and wouldn't want it to drag anymore so as not to derail the thread. as regards your earnest desire as to the will of God, please focus on today and let 'tomorrow take care of it self'. selah as regards your dreams, I'll advice you drop the attitude of over confidence in them (...YES). that's the attitude the devil is waiting for. even if you feel/know God has said something seek a confirmation from Him or confide in someone gifted in interpretation of dreams and counseling. the bible helps us to understand that 'God will make everything perfect in its time'. if God will lead you to her in the future you should know that 'He wouldn't tempt us above what we are able to bear', so the grace to submit to His will will be made available. please sir don't give your self premature grey hair... today has enough worries already. selah. |

Danki: Bless you sister Busybody.
I've heard what you said. Though VERY VERY hard, I will always try not to be selective of the instructions of God on this issue. Not because of hellfire but because I just love God.
I had a dream last night where my ex, the pastor, some brethren and I were in a Bible study. The pastor was preaching while my ex was listening and taking notes with all sincerity. But turning to the pastor, I didn't see any sincerity in him. So, I got angry and told them to continue deceiving her. They all started crying including the pastor pleading with me not to leave. But I left.
As I left the building, the pastor sneaked out through the back door to meet me. He was angry and started insulting me. He said because of me, the girl is paying too much attention to the word of God. That I should leave her alone. I told him I'm not holding her.
Before I knew it, the pastor started getting physical. He started throwing stuffs at me. Then he multiplied into 4 different women throwing stuffs at me. I started running and they were chasing me. In the process, I noticed that somebody was with me and defending all those things being thrown at me. Next thing, I flew far away from them into another big city.
In the past, my ex never notices me in my dream talkless of crying if I tell her I'm leaving. if I may ask sir, do you understand/know the meaning of this dream? |
