Which oil were you using? If you did all the work that you described and the engine is still not perfect, then change the engine. The timing was not properly set and after repairs, you are still encountering the same issue, let it go and get a new engine. Toyota engines does not have sludge even when you use the conventional oils. After 3 months, change the oil but when you are using synthetic, every six months, you drain and I guarantee that you will never see sludge even if the mileage is 200000 miles.

There are many 5w30 in the market. But they are not convenient for your car else there will not be sludge in a Toyota Engine. When you check your oil chamber cover, which oil and specification did Toyota ask you to use? There are 5w30 SJ, 5w30 SL and for your brand of Toyota, maybe 0w20 or 5w30 but with the API number. If you use 5w30 and you have sludge, the oil is not good for your car.

P0016 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A) Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A) What does that mean? This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code, which means that is applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles, including but not limited to Ford, Dodge, Toyota, VW, Honda, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Audi, Acura, etc. The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and Camshaft position sensor (CMP) work in harmony to control the spark/fuel delivery and timing. They both consist of a reluctor, or tone, ring which passes over a magnetic sensor, which generates a voltage, indicating position. The crankshaft sensor is part of the primary ignition system and functions as the "trigger". It detects the position of the crankshaft relays that information on to the PCM or the ignition module (depending on the vehicle) to control spark timing. The Camshaft position sensor detects the position of the camshafts and relays the information to the PCM. The PCM uses the CMP signal to identify the beginning of the injector sequence. What ties these two shafts and their sensors together is the timing belt or chain. The cam and crank should be precisely timed together. If the PCM detects that the Crank and Cam signals are out of time by a specific number of degrees, this P0016 code will set. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0016 will or may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The engine may run but with reduced performance The engine may crank but not start The engine may exhibit a rattle near the harmonic balancer indicating the tone ring is damaged The engine may start and run, but poorly Causes Causes may include: Timing chain stretched, or timing belt skipped a tooth due to wear Misalignment of timing belt/chain Tone ring on crankshaft slipped/broken Tone ring on camshaft slipped/broken Bad crank sensor Bad cam sensor Damaged wiring to crank/cam sensor Timing belt/chain tensioner damaged Possible Solutions First, visually inspect the cam and crank sensors and their harnesses for damage. If you notice broken/frayed wires, repair and recheck. If you have access to a scope, check the cam and crank patterns. If a pattern is missing, suspect a bad sensor or a slipping tone ring. Remove the cam gear and the crankshaft harmonic balancer and inspect the tone rings for proper alignment and make sure they're not loose or damaged or that they haven't sheared the key that aligns them. If they are properly installed, replace the sensor. If the signal appears normal, then check the timing chain/belt for proper alignment. If it's misaligned, check for a damaged tensioner that may have allowed the chain/belt to slip a tooth or several teeth. Also check that the belt/chain isn't stretched. Repair and recheck.

Which engine oil does it use?

But we had a lengthy discussion with one of their staff who told me that Mobil special api sf is being produced by Exxon Mobil for Nigerian motorists who cannot afford the tsp api Sl. So what does michelin nigeria say about tyre expiry and since you know much about tyres, why are people still importing all season tyres knowing the implications on the hot weather? Why are you not doing much to disuade Nigerians from fitting those tyres on their vehicles. The Frsc needs ideas and so it wont be a bad idea if you are in the vanguard for safer roads based on your tyre experience. The michelin in Ijora that I once used to frequent had the worry of how to sell their tyres in their warehouse whose expiry date was already ticking and there is a name they call their head there who made these worries known and made me to visit their tyre fitting shop to find out if they are bringing in all season tyres into the country.

9icetoo, It is true that Michelin says 5 years to inspect. Is the Michelin UK or Nigeria? Do they produce the same tyres for Nigeria and Uk? Do we really need all season tyres in Nigeria? Do we need winter tyres in Nigeria? Have you driven on a wintry road full of ice or snow? The four years is the right age for a tyre to last in our kind of weather. Do not say that Texas is hotter than Nigeria because they dont have a high incidence rate of burst tyres. I have inspected tyres from a popular car lot in Ikeja and the man claimed that all his cars comes from Texas and they all came with all season tyres with Temp B rating. This year, the FRSC will begin inspecting tyres not only for the expiry dates but for speed and temperature ratings. Imagine an S class fitted with T speed rating. That is suicide alert. Abi the recession mean say you nor go buy better tyre to save your life and property?

That is a good question. I have not seen any car manufacturer that recommends 5 w 40 for their cars. 5 w40 is majorly for those oil companies to make oils that can protect the engine above 50 degrees but when you have a 5w 30 that can exceed 50 degrees, or 5 w 20 that can exceed 50 degrees, you have gotten a better oil. The oil primary task is to lubricate the engine and take away the heat from the engine and keep it cool. It is assisted by oil coolant which is attached to the oil filter to keep the engine temperature down. But when the 5w40 cannot protect the engine, eliminate sludge and keep it cool, then you should be wary of the oil. Honda cars require 0w20 nowadays and motorists don't bother to use the grade of oil. That oil grade must be of high quality.

Mobil special 20w50 made in Nigeria is Api SF. Obsolete. Beware.
