branhampaul:I did not use a Religious dictionary to arrive at a definition. It was a regular dictionary so when you talk about religious dynamism in context then you are wrong. Lack you say means disbelief and disbelief is the inability or refusal to accept that something is true or real. So if you are UNABLE or REFUSE to accept that God or gods are real then SHARE with us how you arrived at this position. It's that simple. Share your epiphany! I am eager to read about it. |
DeSepiero:You all somehow seek TO RELATE something with something in an attempt to quench your curious minds. Look at my response to hopefullandlord. Do you have your own epiphany to share? |
branhampaul:You speak with so much bravado and conviction. How did you arrive at such a position is all I asked (your epiphany). |
hopefulLandlord:You cannot force me to show you the big picture can you? (your questions show the DESIRE TO KNOW AND REACH FOR SOMETHING BEYOND MAN) . This is subconsciously inherent in every one. You want me to immediately make clear to you what you are in the dark about and I say I WILL MOVE AT A CERTAIN PACE. however you are not satisfied by this so as your comment implies would rather pull away than stay to quench THIS DESIRE TO KNOW in you. That COULD have been how you became an atheist? Could that be your epiphany? You were eager to know but could not be patient enough to know. Look at me as God in my comment and then draw your inference from that. I am hungry for your epiphany. Feed me. |
branhampaul:I already offered dictionary definitions for both LACK and ABSENCE and you obviously found them unsatisfactory which was why you said LACK has MANY definitions yet you want me to further provide more dictionary definitions for you? I want you to do us the honours. |
branhampaul:It shouldn't be too hard to provide ALL THE DEFINITIONS FOR LACK since you say they are many. I already asked for that from you and every other atheist who has been responding. LACK and ABSENCE. I need ALL the definitions for both. |
hopefulLandlord:You are the one straying sir. You are not in my head to know if I am straying since I originated this piece for reasons best known TO ME and not TO US. I am waiting for your epiphany. |
NairalandSARS:We have moved from here. We have broadened our view. Can you help hopefullandlord and Brahampaul by sharing your own epiphany? |
branhampaul:Okay atheism means NO BELIEF which echoes hopefullandlords own epiphany. So can you join him by letting us know how you got this epiphany? |
hopefulLandlord:You have told me that YOU DO NOT BELIEVE which is an emphatic comment. Since it's not a present tense but a present continuous tense with you as an atheist then tell me how you arrived at such a profound position. That's all I asked and you should be eager and overjoyed to share this great factual information with everyone shouldn't you? Especially since you are convinced of its truth which gave birth to your atheism. |
branhampaul:Are you a definition? Are you living by definition? Since you believe you are a definition and have defined yourself as LACKING A BELIEF I have helped broaden your scope of the word LACK! if like nairalandsars you say it's an ABSENCE OF BELIEF I have done same. If you feel unsatisfied then offer me all the definitions of LACK and ABSENCE you have and let's look at them. I will move at your pace alright? |
KingEbukasBlog:I will only work with what they give to me. I want to move AT THEIR PACE. A lot of them would not understand what you just wrote. |
branhampaul:You are the atheist not I. You should be schooling me and not the other way around. This was why I said specifically that I wanted YOUR OWN definition as it applies to you and why you hold it so dear. |
hopefulLandlord:It's not a game! YOU DO NOT BELIEVE! Very profound words. So care to tell me how you came to NOT BELIEVE? |
I am asking all the atheists here to provide ALL THE DEFINITIONS for LACK and ABSENCE available in any and every dictionary let's look at them. |
hopefulLandlord:I never moved. I only responded to what I was given. Would you like to drop your own definitions let's also look at them. |
NairalandSARS:I would love it if you could display ALL THE DEFINITIONS for absence here please let's look at them. |
branhampaul:You need to understand word placement. The operative word Is LACK! nairalandsars has explained that his lack meant ABSENCE which I have expounded so can you help with the question I asked nairalandsars? |
NairalandSARS:Absence could also be termed as a fact of NOT EXISTING! So it is a profound knowledge to you that God or gods do not exist. Can you show me how you arrived at this position? |
NairalandSARS:Absence is the fact of not being where you are usually expected to be. Did you know that? |
hopefulLandlord:I never used the term I LACK BELIEF in any sort of unicorn be it pink or whatever colour. LACK being the operative word. So how can you speak for me when I never said so myself? |
Brahampaul, scepticalpyrrho, obinna58 and Nairalandsars all termed atheism to be A LACK of belief. Hopefullandlord and Desepiero obviously saw nothing wrong in those positions otherwise I believe they would spoken up. So let me say this in clear terms. To say you are lacking something means that you want or desire whatever you are lacking. The dictionary defines lack as a "deficiency or absence of something needed, desirable, or customary". For example I currently lack children. The hungry lack food. The poor lack money. I think you get the idea. So by saying you lack a belief in God or gods, it implies you want to believe in God or gods subconsciously. My English may be rusty so correct me if what I wrote is wrong based on the definition of atheism you all gave by yourselves which actually depicts your position. |
JackBizzle:Yes and what a sweet decay it actually is. ![]() But you are intimidated by one of such religiously decayed minds. How is that possible? |
JackBizzle:Oh yes. And wouldn't that be grand? |
hopefulLandlord:Those are their own definitions and I would have a general discussion eventually. I do however want yours too since you are already here. |
Clamouring for DNA tests is one thing. Faithfulness is another. Even if the Children or child is proven to be yours via DNA does that mean she cannot cheat IN BETWEEN pregnancies? I also observe that it's the men who are all over the place regarding DNA testing as if it's the woman alone who has the tendency of straying outside the marital union. DNA is flawed because it targets women and their faithfulness or lack of it but does not expose the unfaithfulness of men unless those men are actually physically caught in the act. I am an advocate of DNA testing but ONLY for the right reason and not for fidelity tests or stigmatization. |
hopefulLandlord:Please let's try and all be nice this morning. I saw no reason for your outburst in his comment. You are OBVIOUSLY an atheist so tell me your definition of atheism as it applies to you. I am In the mood for some HEALTHY discussion today. |
JackBizzle:It wasn't for lack of comprehension dumbo. It was an obviously wrongly directed comment meant for another so naturally I could not relate to it. It's quite different from yours which though directed at you left you disoriented still. |
ScienceWatch:Okay for a minute there you had me confused. I was beginning to wonder if everyone wasn't going crazy. Thanks for the explanation. |
Ranchhoddas:You seem disoriented. Did I at any time tell you I was interested In any form of discourse with you until you began sending me silly messages obviously not mine and couldn't even see it fit to apologise. The nerve! |
ScienceWatch:Transgender pregnancy? What the hell is going on here? Where and when did I indicate interest in transgender pregnancy and who is Pastor Bronchitis? |
NairalandSARS:Are you an atheist? |
