PoliticsIbe Kachikwu Vows To Resign If Nigeria Still Imports Fuel By 2019 by Spazwik(op): 3:11pm On May 23, 2017
While speaking to Stephen Sackur of BBC’s Hardtalk, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu said that he will resign if Nigeria continues to import fuel by 2019.

“I have delivered on all that I have promised when I came into office. First, I took Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and made it a profit-making organization. This is the first time in history, I reshaped the organization.

I removed cash call deficits of over $6bn and renegotiated it. Everything that I have promised since coming into office, I have delivered. I will deliver to the refineries and I’m committed to it.

I will also deliver a future for oil that makes sense for Nigeria. Bear in mind one has been there for one and a half years, the president has been there for two years; I can’t pretend that we’re going to solve in one day all the problems that happened in Nigeria in the past,” he said.

“Our target is 2019…donot worry, I put the date, I’ll work it,” Kachikwu said when asked when Nigeria will attain self-sufficiency in crude oil refining.

Sackur then said: “And if you don’t achieve it, you’ll walk?” Kachikwu replied: “Yes, of course, that is the reason why you are in government.”

Make Banga Rice under 80 minutes

https://www.supermart.ng/blog/assets/images/bangarice.png

Banga rice is made from the oil of banga (palm nuts). It is not the regular rice as it has a traditional taste. It is prepared almost the same way banga soup is prepared only that you will make use of rice. You can use any protein of your choice

Method
1. Wash and the rice with warm water until clear; then drain. Set aside
2. Cook palm nuts until soft. Drain water and pour into a mortar.
3. Pound until pulp separates from the nuts. Pour hot water and sieve until you get all the oil from the nuts. Discard the nuts and pour the oil into a clean pot. Cook for 10 minutes
4. Season the chicken and cow leg with salt and seasoning cubes. Allow to cook for 10 minutes or until soft (remember the cow leg is harder than the chicken so you may have to cook longer)
5. Pour the washed rice into pot of banga. Add meat stock, crayfish and smoked crayfish (blended), pepper, salt and seasoning cubes and allow to cook for 20 minutes or until water dries
6. Wash and chop the scent leaves and add to the pot containing rice
7. Add chicken and cow leg and allow to simmer for 5 minutes.
8. Serve hot

2. Put potato cubes into a pressure cooker, add sliced onions and cook for about 20 minutes until very soft.
3. Remove from the pressure cooker and put into a regular pot. Add all the other ingredients and some water if necessary. Stir with a wooden spoon.
4. Cover pot and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.

Nairaland GeneralNigeria To Reduce Petrol Importation To 60% by Spazwik(op): 2:34pm On May 18, 2017
At the Rainoil 20th Anniversary Lecture organised by the company in Lagos on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu said with the proposed construction of modular refineries in the Niger Delta and more investments in the sector, the importation of refined products would be reduced to 60 per cent by 2018.

According to him, the country will start exporting refined products with the commencement of Dangote Refinery in 2019.

“The nation is at the turning point where the downstream industry is more critical than ever and will drive the economy. Currently, the NNPC imports over 95 per cent of petroleum products because of the challenges faced by marketers in accessing Foreign Exchange. After 20 years in this industry, I have seen the industry go through challenges but regardless of all that, we are optimistic that there are a lot of opportunities in the sector. By year 2020, the country would not import petroleum products.” he said.

Kachikwu said the country’s refining capacity for the first quarter of this year presently peaked at 10 million barrels of crude oil. This he noted was against eight million and 24 million barrels recorded for the entire years of 2015 and 2016 respectively.

This is a traditional Ibo dish that is simply beyond delicious. It is basically cow leg in "ngo" sauce. This meal is usually served in a traditional pot but can also be served in a regular dish. Nkwobi is usually served with a cold drink. Enjoy!

Method of Preparation

1. Wash the cow leg and place in a pressure pot. Add sliced onions, salt, seasoning and enough water to cook. Allow cooking for about 25 minutes.
2. Dissolve the potash (kaun) in a bowl of water. Make sure there is no lump in the potash and set aside.
3. Blend the pepper and mix the pepper in palm oil. Gradually add the kaun into the pepper mix and stir well. The color will change from bright red to golden yellow. Stir until you get your desired texture (smooth enough).
4. Add the ugba, crayfish (ground) and ewuru (ground with crayfish) to the sauce (ngo) and stir until well blended.
5. Add the well-cooked cow leg and stock. Mix well on low heat for about 3 minutes
6. Taste to know if salt and seasoning will be necessary. If necessary, add. If not, ignore and continue cooking.
7. Garnish with onions and utazi leaves.
8. Serve and enjoy.

Spicy Barbecue Chicken Wings - Barbecue over Asun grin grin

Image from kraftfoods

Barbecue wings are a staple appetizer at many restaurants around the world. However, we in Nigeria love spicy food and so we have incorporated the right type of kick into our barbecue sauce. Use as much pepper as your heart desires!

Method
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Prepare the sauce by blending the rodo, garlic and barbecue sauce together. Do not blend till smooth, the seeds of the rodo should be quite visible. Set aside.
Place chicken wings in a bowl, add ½ teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Mix well and place in the foiled lined baking sheet. Cook for about 10 minutes on each side.
Bring the wings out of the oven and pour the fat from the tray away. Dip the wings in the barbecue mixture and return to the oven.
Cook for about 10 mins and then turn over and brush with more sauce. Allow cooking for another 10 minutes.
Serve hot and garnish with diced spring onions.

How to make Goat Meat Pepper Soup With Potatoes

https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/live-supermart/recipe_images/Y2ruUJhQbQLJpNQIfu03.jpeg

Why not make a meal out of your goat meat pepper soup, you will be glad you did. For this recipe we have added in potatoes for filling and carrots to balance out the meal. It is scrumptious and everything you would imagine it to be. Make yours today!

Method
q. Place a pot over medium heat. Add in the goat meat, 2 seasoning cubes, some salt, onion (chopped), garlic (peeled) ginger (peeled and cut into big chunks) and about 2 cup of water. Allow the meat to cook for about 50 minutes or until almost tender.
2. Peel and half the potatoes, scrape and cut the carrots into your preferred size. Set aside. Check the pot to ensure there is enough water left. Remove the pieces of ginger and garlic. Add in about 4 cups of water, the pepper soup spice and ground pepper.
3. Allow to simmer for a bit then check the seasoning level (particularly because you will be adding in potatoes and carrots), if not enough add more in. Pour in the potatoes and carrots, allow to cook for about 30 minutes. Make sure the potatoes and carrots cook through before removing from heat, If you need to add in more water, do that.

BusinessInvestors Out For Bank Shares As Equities Sustain Bullish Rally by Spazwik(op): 1:39pm On May 08, 2017
Investors scrambled for banking stocks last week as Nigerian equities sustained all-session bullish rally to reach their highest index point in recent period.

Benchmark indices at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) showed week-on-week gain of 1.85 per cent at the equities market, equivalent to a net capital gain of N157 billion in the four-day trading week.

The Nation reports that the recovery at the stock market was evident as:

The NSE Banking Index, which tracks the banking sector, recorded average week-on-week gain of 3.64 per cent, almost a double of the average return at the stock market.
Banking stocks dominated the activities chart with two of the most capitalised banks-Zenith Bank International and FBN Holdings, accounting for 25 per cent and 30.4 per cent of the total turnover volume and value respectively.
There was considerable improvement in banks’ corporate earnings in the first quarter of this year, which many analysts believed was the major factor for the renewed investors’ appetite for banks’ shares.
With nearly three gainers for every loser, aggregate market value of all quoted equities rose from the week’s opening value of N8.913 trillion to close the week at N9.069 trillion, an increase of 1.75 per cent.
The All Share Index (ASI)-the benchmark index that tracks prices at the Exchange, also trended from the index on board of 25,758.51 points to close at 26,235.63 points, representing a week-on-week gain of 1.85 per cent.

How to make Ogbono Soup Under 45 Minutes

https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/live-supermart/recipe_images/X5bnuTzvaxWjkAdBI9mg.jpg
Ogbono soup is a very popular Nigerian soup. Many tribes claim this soup as their native delicacy. One thing we are sure of is that even amateurs can prepare this soup. Yes, it is that easy.

Method
1. Pour the palm oil in a small pot and heat slightly until melted. Add the ogbono paste and stir until there are no lumps.
2. Pour in about 1/2 cup of your hot stock or warm water slowly while still stirring. Then keep adding water until you have achieved the consistency you like. Allow to cook for about 2 mins.
3. Add ground crayfish, smoked fish (cleaned, washed and cut), beef (cooked and spiced to your taste), maggi cubes (be careful with how much of this you use, especially if you used meat stock already) and just enough salt to taste.
4. Allow to cook on low heat for about 15 minutes without covering the pot as it tends to pour out. Stir every now and then. If it gets too thick just add a bit of hot water or stock.
5. Add the chopped and washed ugwu leaves and allow to simmer for about 2 minutes.
6. Serve hot with any swallow of your choice.
