Akshow: I hope she won't claim to be 27 too since that is the trend among male naija celebrities.
Not far from it. According to her she was 27 last year but don't be surprised if 10 years from now she still celebrates her 27th bday. After all no celebrity in Nigeria grows older than 27 anymore. Jim iyke , Rita dominic, tonto dike, all of them are still 27 years old!
so whats the point of the thread?

you just felt like opening one?
Yea I felt like opening one so people like me and you would share their opinion on grinding stuff in the market. So let"s hear yours if you have any.

By the way did you read up there that my decision to start blending at home came from a suggestion by marriedbtlonely? No I guess you didn"t instead you were in a hurry trying to type anything so you would be the 9th to comment. Well congrats you got the slot smiley

marriedbtlonely: You can instruct them to use clean water to wash yours. Better still, when I'm rushing and I have to grind my stuff in the market, I take the pains to pick and wash by myself and they have never objected. You sure have a choice
I agree i can wash them myself but do i carry clean water from my house? I have resolved to buy the tomatoes, take it home and wash properly then use a blender to grind it. Secondly have you closely looked at the grinding mills/ machines? It is almost as if they have permanent black stains.
Food › Ladies How Hygienic Is Grinding Tomatoes, beans, millet, Etc In The Market? by specialguest(op):
This evening i was rushing home from work when i stopped by the market to buy some fresh tomatoes and pepper and as usual i looked around for one of those boys who operate those commercial grinding machines.

He collected my stuff, emptied it into a semi clean bowl and began washing them with semi clean water. On seeing this, I got furious, packed my tomatoes and pepper back to the nylon bag ungrounded and left. And All the boy kept saying was " aunty na so we dey do am" imagine!

We all know how very dirty and untidy commercial grinding machines can be, so why do we keep using them? And if we must use them what steps can one take to ensure our tomatoes, beans, millet etc are grounded without extra germs and bacteria added to them while grinding in the market?

From your post i can deduce two facts.
1) you are not comfortable with his denomination
2) you do not think he is matured enough to handle a wife and a step son
I consider these two enough reasons not to get married to any guy sentiments aside.

Above all pray about it and search within your heart , your answers lies there.
Family › Re: Traits Of Immaturity Displayed By Men In Marriage. by specialguest(f): 7:55pm On Nov 04, 2013
The only trait of immaturity displayed by married men that i know of is the ugly desire to constantly"go after single ladies". It is almost like a curse these days, you see married men having affairs with their students, secretaries, wive's friends, nanny, infact even the gate man's wife. Haba oga!

Lobeez: In the days of sugar plantation, there were black slaves that were treated so very well.
would you justify the fact that these blacks were taken away from their poor black settlements in Africa and transported to Europe for a better life as slaves?
think again bro, you are doing exact same thing
The same black slaves that had holes drilled in their lips to enable their masters padlock their mouths while they worked on the sugarcane plantation? cry

Lobeez: My dear, parents consent does not count here, the individual has to be of the right age for us to begin talking of consent.
how does a 10yr old give consent to go live with a stranger?
Am i the only only one trying so hard to understand what you wrote? Besides who is talking about a 10 year old? If i have a 10 year old maid that means i will be baby sitting her na.

The girl that lives with me is above way above 17 however i had to make an age declaration stating she was 15 years when i enrolled her in jss 1 and i am sure you know why. Infact the first day i took her to school the principal outrightly told me that my ward was way above 15 years probably because of her size but i just feigned ignorance of what she saying by claiming that is what the girls parents told me.

mfm04622: The world isn't black & white. It is usually grey! It is great opportunity for a maid to get a good family. First question, when staying with her parents, does he/she have access to education? Answer is usually no. What of standard of living? Usually better when staying with employers. I have a maid. She attend a private school that cost me 25k per term. Of course my child attend a better school but i struggle to pay my child school fees. I can send him to that school because i have only a child. My maid eat what we eat, is attended to in the same hospital. Her main job is to take care of my child as i have an older woman come on weekends to wash and iron and other heavy stuff. I understand the law is required to protect house maids from being treated badly but to make it illegal? That is removing opportunity some of them get for social mobility.
Spot on mfm! Many people believe a maid has to be someone who constantly washes and cleans the house unfortunately what time would she come back from school, have her lessons and then wash clothes? Besides is it the suits i wear to work that a maid would be washing? undecided those playing the holier than thou attitude on this thread claiming its wrong to pick up a maid from the suburbs and give him/her a better life are the same people who would subjects their maid to constant torture and maltreatment because of their servant-slave mentality.

You may wish to know that when my maid went to her village for christmas last year she came back with horrible stories of how girls in her peer group had mostly become pregnant for random village boys after she left. Not to mention how they were all exclaiming about the hardship they are now faced with and instantly she became the envy of most of them. After she returned i jokingly asked her she wants to do about her friends condition back in the village and she replied 'aunty lets buy beds from my money and send to them' and i asked her why and she said that is all they ever desired. Lolz very funny! You can imagine the kind of low life those girls have been subjected to plus the unwanted teenage pregnancy and all that.

So tell me which is better? A maid in the city who goes to school and is guaranteed a better future or a teenager in the village who gets molested by all the weed smoking village boys, gets pregnant and still goes to the stream to fetch water and find fire wood.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Are Ladies Uncovering Their Heads In Church Nowadays by specialguest(f): 5:06pm On Nov 03, 2013
Why do we like to over do in Nigeria? Those missionaries that brought religion to Nigeria did their women cover their hair? I know catholic sisters cover their hair but i doubt any other globally recognized denomination emphasizes on that. Or is the teaching one going to receive in church not better than the person's outward appearance?

We have those that cover from head to toe yet their hearts are as hardened as granite, may God have mercy on them. While i am an advocate for modesty and moderation, i do not condemn any hair uncovering sister.

I have a maid who sleeps in my room, eats with me and inherits most of my clothes. Recently i enrolled her in a very good government school . Did i also mention that i opened an account for her where i pay in her monthly allowance ? Ooo and i drop her off in school every morning on my way to work. She is a very good girl and i am determined to sponsor her education to any level she decides to study. Most people residing in my estate actually think we are closely related and i like to keep it that way at least she wont be tempted to steal my stuff or harm me since her basic needs are catered for.

Girls, ladies, women, mothers, mamalets, please endeavor to treat your maids as if they were your sisters or children. This is the 21st century the era of child labour has passed.

Lordskenn: I read and hear it often that it is not good for a guy to insult and abuse his girlfriend. Please instruct me, my galfriend is stubborn, lacks understanding, always makes me angry madly. I don't cheat on her and i perform my responsibility always but despite all, she doesn't trust or believe me. What should i do with her? Share your opinion with me.
I believe you love her that is why you are here to seek for our advise so I will not be tempted to ask you the question do you love her?
From personal experience, I know a lady can be stubborn in a relationship if she is not in love or she has no respect for the man. Usually the latter is the case. Talk to her about your worries but most importantly be a responsible man and find ways to earn her respect.

So pleased to know you had a successful surgery. God that came to your aid will also help other renal failure patients across the globe. It is well

*it is high time we upgraded our health centres so Nigerians can stop travelling abroad for ailments that are becoming rampant i.e kidney failure and cancer. Or are our state governors going to be giving every sick person a lump sum of money to travel abroad for treatment?
