I am with tbaba on this ,irrespective of the persons motive ,all or majorly what counts it's the givers motive,is it for the sake of Allah? Pride ? Expecting favours from the white cloth wearing people ? This question can also be linked with the question of saving an unbeliever or the people of the books say from drowning in a pool should you be able to swim or from a point of death should be able to save them . The sin would be you not saving them. To this point i would say give should you be able to afford it and with good intentions. Barakallah fik.
