Hey Vesc!!

This year's failed me movie wise. 2 weeks more sha, maybe Brad Bird and Guy Ritchie can save it from the abyss

@da student: Abed is pretty amazing but one fav for me this year's been the one with the dice/pizza delivery.

@tgirl: Look for it, Justified's been one of the most underrated gems on tv!

@iice I feel you. Still rewatching trailers for "Safe House, This Means War, The Avengers, TDKR & MI:GP" to amuse myself

Heard about "The Dictator"; There's already a classic "The Great Dictator" which is unmatchable so I am quietly pissed waiting for this,

Transformers 3? I guess I'll get around to seeing it once it's out on DVD since it's no longer in the cinemas. But really sha, lousy year for movies; only thing I'm looking towards now is MI:GP & Sherlock Holmes 2.

2012 should be fantastic though as Joss gives us Avengers; Nolan, TDKR and Pixar drops Brave. . . .I'm grinning already
TV/Movies / Re: What Was The Last Movie You Watched - Part 2 by spikyn: 9:17pm On Sep 09, 2011
I don't know if it's just cynical to say but this year has been really terrible for movies for me,

You know who you can call you gotta best believe it
The Roc stand tall and you would never believe it
Take your diamonds and throw 'em up like you bulimic
Yea the beat cold but the flow is anemic
After debris settles and the dust get swept off
Big K pick up where young Hov left off
Right when magazines wrote Kanye West off
I dropped my new shit sound like the best of
A&R's lookin' like "pssh we messed up"
Grammy night, damn right, we got dressed up
Bottle after bottle till we got messed up
In the studio, where really though, yea he next up
People askin' me if I'm gon' give my chain back
That'll be the same day I give the game back
You know the next question dog "Yo, where Dame at?"
This track the Indian dance to bring our reign back
"What's up with you and Jay, man, are y'all ok man?"
They pray for the death of our dynasty like Amen
R-r-r-right here stands a-man
With the power to make a diamond with his bare hands,

Religion / Re: Wealthy Nigerians, Pastors Waste $225 Million On Private Jets-- Forbes by spikyn: 3:38pm On May 23, 2011
Many commendations to all.

Points to note:

- First off, the article is off a blog (Mfonobong Nsehe's to be exact) hosted by Forbes and was/is not a news item listed by the reporting arm. ( http://blogs.forbes.com/mfonobongnsehe/2011/05/17/wealthy-nigerians-pastors-spend-225-million-on-private-jets/ )

- The source of Mfonobong Nsehe's blog entry is a Punch Nigeria article ( http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201105163222837 ) . This article (from PunchNG) was a news item and it only lists 1 Minister/Clergyman (David Oyedepo) (i.e. the blogger took it upon himself to add the E.A. Adeboye and Sam Adeyemi)

- Corruption in religion is neither new nor news. Human institutions have been rife with them since the dawn of recorded history and definitely even before.

- If we took the time to check the source material of most thing considered news, we'd find that most tend to be opinions or diatribes. Holding an opinion is fine, encouraged even, but truth built off invalidated facts do no make a viable platform for a reasoned arguments.

I highlight these to underline that it's okay to rail against exploitation/fraud but let's base it off valid information/news lest our arguments be built off falsities that nullify valid/genuine rational thought.

@Mobinga: LOL. Didn't want to bring up the Wii & it's games at all lest a whole new, different gist/argument starts!

Meh! Good one, bet you a 2d game on either the ds or will will make it cry. As a landmark for the series it's okay but in the overall scheme of games? Just another fantastic shooter from a company that's about to go multiplatform and make much more money.

GT5 will move hardware. Halo has always moved hardware and always will. Everybody wins!

@Oga Viera, I dey hail.

And why would anyone want to do this?
TV/Movies / Re: The Movie Club by spikyn: 12:59pm On Sep 19, 2010
The Departed.

Good remake of a good movie. Appreciated that the Academy deemed it fit to give Scorsese his Best Director Oscar for this even though it's one of his weaker movies. Everyone did the over-acting thing especially Jack Nicholson but it played into the spirit of the remake and the reoccurring "rats" theme is nice. It is a mighty testament to a director when one of your lesser movies (first remake also - I think) sweeps at the Oscars. Matt Damon/Leonardo DiCaprio/"Marky Mark" and Martin Sheen deserved Oscars on this one. I give it a strong 87% with the extra 2% for their incredible versions of the track-down and docks buildup scenes. 'Infernal Affairs" was amazing though and though the endings were different I prefer the original's.

P.S. The Departed can't have a sequel that makes sense, no way mainly because. . . . . . . .

P.P.S @JK Toy Story 3 'late vote' here as well wink . It didn't make well over a billion dollars in cinemas alone because it was wack/raz. Pixar is magic!

I liked 'The Illusionist'.
TV/Movies / Re: The Movie Club by spikyn: 12:32pm On Aug 20, 2010
I've seen 'Inception' thrice. I agree that it requires some thought but no more than Pulp Fiction , 12 Monkeys or TDK (barring costumes and face paint!). It'd give it a 94.5, the '.5' deduction is for 'elitism'.

I've seen Salt, I like. I'd give it 80%
