Super Mario Galaxy 2

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

It is fascinating to me how each time I read or hear the synopsis of a Pixar move I wonder if (and sometimes how) it can work out but they keep doing amazing things. I recently read a book about another company that has my attention: Nintendo and it's pretty good getting an insight/understanding on the workings and how these companies function and excel at selling imagination, story and entertainment to us. There doesn't seem to be much Pixar can do wrong and all their movies are regarded as classic. Time magazine had an article up on their website on the 2 critics that "dissed" the movie thereby stopping it from getting a "100% Fresh" rating on rottentomatoes wondering what was wrong with them; other reports have it that grown men tore up and cried! Over an animated movie about toys?! Sweet!!

@Vesc: hey bruv. I'm been around o! Lag mostly. Somehow I doubt only 2 of us share movie tastes because somehow the movies make much more than we can afford to pay the movie companies

It is a 'satisfying' movie. Which is something you can't really say about a lot of movies. And it has a lot of "in-jokes" and references while telling a superb tale. Pixar truly are something else. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Good one! But somehow, no. Doesn't make it any less good though. I can easily see it getting nominated at many end of year award lists.

Do.See.It.

@spiked hmmmm . . . . what would constitute an Oscar worthy performance in your books? And who'd you have rather the award went to last year?

@vesc. . . I'm working on something, might get you refilled soon enough.

I fear for all these their choices for Cap o! They look too soft to be Captain America.

He represents the 'Moss' character for me. <Moss is from White Collar (another must-watch show)>

"Avatar" won 3 awards for Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction & Best Cinematography.

I was wondering, if movie goers and fans had also been involved in the voting process, do you think "The Hurt Locker" would have still won 6 awards last night?

I was responding to your question at the end of the quoted text block above. Nomination for Transformers 2 is for anything is bad enough

@obinna5k. TDK took home 2. BSA for Heath Ledger and Best Sound Editing. So I didn't mean it didn't get anything but 'technical Oscars're not it.

If it was up to 'movie watchers' et al you'd have had to pick Transformers 2 as well. GOD ALMIGHTY FORBID VERY BAD THING!

@vesc . . .

I saw Percy and it was not in the least bit bad.

Not sure this thread was alive but glad to find it so.

Not surprised on the Oscars, sorry iice; The Hurt Locker was my pick. Up too
