If it is general consensus that all easterners (I doubt it) want tear down all the good work of Zik, then it is your prerogative, but please leave Awolowo out of it. |

Politics / Re: Nigerian President Returns After Saudi Visit by spoOne: 6:51pm On Sep 28, 2009 |
Sky Blue: The sad truth, is that this president more than likely may lack the skills and drive to effectively rule this country - I think the sickness albeit valid, is just a smoke screen to mask his inhability. If this is not the case then there are other ulterior motive for his frequent trips to Saudi Arabia - is it posible that he's working very hard to turn Nigeria into an Islamic state - which would spell doom? I am also very concerned about his passiveness in governing this nation. |

Politics / Re: Why Is The Eastern Region The Only Region Without An Airport? by spoOne: 6:13pm On Sep 28, 2009 |
Afam: seconded! If nothing else the population of the East supports it - unless the plan to have an international airport in Asaba/Onitsha materializes. As most international traders are from the East, the dredging of the Niger will definitely be the best thing to happen to Nigerian commerce in general. |
Politics / ASUU Strike, Embarrassment To Nigeria – Cleric by spoOne: 5:50pm On Sep 28, 2009 |
By George Onah Port Harcourt— The ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has become an embarrassment to the nation’s image and an indication of the little attention the country availed and viewed its youths and future generation, Catholic Priest, Monsignor Pius Kii, has said. Kii, who is the assistant parish priest of Christ the King Catholic Church, Diobu, Port Harcourt, said in his sermon Sunday, that it was regrettable that a nation which prides itself as the giant of Africa was at the lower rung of the academic ladder amongst African nations and the developing world. Drawing attention to the practice where Nigerians now send their children to acquire secondary and university education in nearby Republic of Ghana, the clergy man said “the time may soon come when we will be sending our children to nursery and primary schools in Ghana”. He recalled that “there was a time in our nation, in the 1970s and 80s, when Ghanaians trooped to Nigeria in search of a better standard of living and it got to the stage where the government of that time asked them to live Nigeria. More -- @ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/09/28/ASUU-strike-embarrassment-to-nigeria-cleric/ When will this president start to be presidential? If he's not capable of running this country he should handover to the VP, after all that's why we have a VP. |

@poster - or is it venom? Leave the founding fathers of our democracy out of your vile contemptuous tribalism - let their souls rest in perfect peace - they did alot for this country, they should be revered not denegrated with your depraved and convoluted ideology. Don't you have any bounds? |

THE YAR’ADUA’S 7-POINT AGENDA POWER AND ENERGY – Worse off FOOD SECURITY – Worse off WEALTH CREATION – Worse off TRANSPORT SECTOR – Worse off LAND REFORMS – Worse off SECURITY – Temporary amnesty in place and boko haram qwelled EDUCATION – Worse off So essentially nothing has been done by this president. |

nex: The bastard is a ruthless dictator and a terrorist, he should be insulted at any given opportunity nex: I was not awere that OPEC has been desolved - if my memory serves me well, some of the OPEC member state rulers were present at the UN. Why is it that we can't get a straight answer from the presidency? If he's too sick to rule the country , he should handover to the VP - unless maybe the VP is just a pawn to qwell agitation in the ND. |

Yes! into 250 countries - this way every ethnic group will have her own country. So 250 or nothing else - we leave it as one. |
Politics / Re: Say No To Sony Products by spoOne: 3:28pm On Sep 28, 2009 |
Ban SONY products and forego billions(-N-) in oil revenue from Japan, yes? - I think not! The Yar'Adua government need every bit of this revenue for much needed development in the North and ofcourse to line their pockets |
Politics / Re: Nigerian President Returns After Saudi Visit by spoOne: 3:15pm On Sep 28, 2009 |
nex: For starters, we'd like him to start ruling the country and fullfill the electorates' mandate, or at least his own mandate to the people of Nigeria - maybe just one of his seven point agenda. Nigerians would not be troubled by his numerous trips to Saudi Arabia, if he's actually showing some progress in dealing with the huge issues Nigeria(n)s face. |

nex: Though I agree with you that we need nuclear power, your bolded statement is just not accurate - all the countries of the world have a mix of hydro, coal and nuclear (France highest at 76%); and some wind (highest being ~20% for Denmark), and solar. I am inclined to think that we need coal in the east, more petroleum turbines in the ND, Wind along the wind corridor up North, and then solar in a smaller scale, subsidized for individual homes or businesses. Nuclear should be considered as the country become more industrialized. Let's not forget Chinobyl and three mile island |
Politics / Re: What's Our President Doing In Saudi Arabia? by spoOne: 3:03pm On Sep 27, 2009 |
@NEX What about Iran - they were at the UN? Your argument does not hold water at all - this president is either too sick, not comfortable around other leaders, or has some ulterior motive for avoiding other world leaders that matter, and more importantly his own country. more and more, I am leaning towards the later. |

german007: mccloud224's take on the Yar’Adua’s presidency, or the lack thereof, is plausible – Nigerian political elites have many guises for looting our treasury; this may just be another one. And your rebuttal to his comments was totally unrelated, utterly strange at best. He didn’t know why, and I didn’t either – and your next explanation was worse. Maybe you want to take jab at it again? |

Politics / Nigerian President Returns After Saudi Visit by spoOne: 10:50am On Sep 27, 2009 |
Nigerian president returns after Saudi visit (AFP) – 21 hours ago ABUJA — Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua has returned to Abuja after a visit to Saudi Arabia, his office said on Saturday. "The president is back. He returned to the country last night," a senior presidential aide told AFP. Yar'Adua, 58, travelled to Saudi Arabia last week, following a medical check-up there last month. According to an official statement released from his office the latest visit, the third in about a year, was at "the invitation of King Abdullah", . He had made an 11-day trip in August for medical checks and the lesser pilgrimage to Islam's holy sites. He also went to Saudi Arabia in August last year for what officials said was a religious pilgrimage. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5igDpc5TuzbHQwNj1_dBIyCndq6fw He still looks seek - Maybe his VP needs to take over before he collapse. His health and the nation are suffering - are these boneheads in the national assembly asleep?

Politics / Re: Oshiomole Paralyses Entire Education System In Edo State! by spoOne: 10:21am On Sep 27, 2009 |
Oshiom Ole was a thug then (NLC era), and his still a thug - the only difference now, is that he's a thug with access to the state treasury, and megaphone for more hot air. I don't know of any thug that's interested in education - so the good people of Edo state should not be too surprised - thugs hate schools. You can take the thug out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the thug - thugs will always be thugs. |
Politics / Re: Abacha's Son 'to Enter Politics' by spoOne: 9:48am On Sep 27, 2009 |
If the good people of Kano want him as Governor of their state, then so be it. After all Abacha’s tyranny and destruction of innocent lives was only perpetrated on the Southerners – Most Northerners simply stood aside and watched. So I am not surprised they don’t see anything wrong with this tyrant’s son contesting a gubernatorial election in Kano. Not to worry, this is as far as he’ll go – he will not dare seek a national position, elected or appointed. You can call Nigerians a lot of names, but they are definitely not forgetful - take IBB for instance, he has tried all he can to get back into National polity to no avail. |
