SMILE UNLIMITED DATA FOR 10K

I am looking for anyone who currently uses Smile and is in need of the unlimited lite plan, soon. I want to transfer my data to them for 10k.

I subscribed on Sunday only to realize that my device doesn't show network bars anymore. Took my device to their Toyin office yesterday and they said it was completely damaged and unfixable, with an option to buy another.

As I'm not willing to buy another, I want to transfer the data to another user who's in need of it. The customer care people will do that while you send 10k to me.

Note that the data hasn't been used at all.

Reply this if you're interested.

Hmmmmmm. Where will I start from? God was really involved in my admission process and visa.
I was initially denied by the school I picked (University of Missouri, Columbia). I wrote to the graduate coordinator and asked why I was denied they said my overall Gp was low, so I told them that on the school site it was said that the Gp would be based on the last two years. They said they would review my application again, and behold I was accepted.
My profile
CGPA: 3.01/5
GRE: 303
IELTS: 7.5

The interview(Tuesday Lagos 7.45)

After My thumbprinting I turned to my left to wait for where to be directed to by the CGI because 5 windows were open. As I turned to wait for the CGI a female VO (Young lady, she was quite beautiful she should be in her mid twenties) directly opposite me just gestured with her hand that I should come forward, I was still arranging the other documents from my thumbprinting.

V.O: before I arrive pass me your I-20 ( I guess she saw the Ups envelope with me so she knew I was a student)
ME: okay am coming(while looking for it, she requested my passport since it was in my hand)
VO: Where are you going to (She started typing, I didn't hear her properly)
ME: I didn't get you ma (I moved my ear closer to the glass cos she was speaking Very fast)
VO: She repeated the question
ME: University of Missouri Columbia
VO: What are you going to study?
ME: Mechanical Engineering, sorry Master Mechanical Engineering (I handed her my I-20)(My program was actually Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering but only M.E was written on my I-20)
VO: what have you been doing
ME: I finished my Bsc August 2017, went for my service January to Dec 2018 (cuts in)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: 5 Schools
VO: Mention them
ME: California State University
VO: She muttered something
ME: ehn, come again ma, ( I put my ear closer to the window)
VO: which of the CSU
ME: oh the one at Fullerton, CSUF
VO: were you admitted?
ME: Yes, am with the admission letter should I bring it out?
VO:No, continue... (as I was mentioning them she was asking and typing)
ME: Southern Illinois University Carbondale(Admit), Missouri(Admit), University of Idaho (Reject), Mississippi State University (Reject)
VO: Did you write any Standardised Test?
ME: Yes (GRE, 303 and IELTS 7.5)
VO: why didn't they give you scholarship, Missouri is a Big school and the test scores are okay
ME: I contacted my supervisor for RA but he said he had no space at this time
VO: I know what an assistantships is, am asking about scholarship, why didn't they give you scholarship with these your test scores? (She was speaking affirmative and authoritatively)
ME: (I didn't reply I was just looking, I didn't know what to say again)
VO: where are your parents?
ME: Nigeria
VO: have you been to the US before
ME: no ma. , I have not had a reason to go
VO: they should have given you at least a scholarship (I was just looking)
VO: what will do after your studies
ME: I will come back to Nigeria and work with an Energy firm
VO: who is your sponsor
ME:My uncle
VO: What does he do?
ME: he is into clearing and forwarding
VO: do you have any financial document
ME: Yes ma (As I was bringing the one page treasury bill paper out, she said no no no)
VO: I need bank statements, about 5 to 6 pages
ME: it's a Nigerian treasury Bill ma of 70M
VO: I need bank statement (She was raising her voice now)
ME: My uncle deposited it last year November so that it would have generated an interest of (V.O cuts in angrily)
VO: shut up!, I said shut up! I need bank statement (She was now typing very fast)
I was just looking on my own speechless( My mind was like he done happen lemme be packing my documents)
VO: (she muttered something but I didn't listen I was just packing and arranging my document inside my file)
She gave me my passport and a white paper while she circled the second part of additional document required
ME: I don't understand ma( I was expecting a blue paper or yellow paper)
VO: Listen, I was talking and you were not listening, listen, listen ( She was speaking like a Boss and somehow angry)
ME: am sorry ma (I dropped my documents and drew closer to the window fixing my gaze on her)
VO: Take this white paper with you and drop it with your passport at the DHL drop off point. You are to include a bank statement or liquid funds that shows $36,783. Liquid funds pls.
ME: Okay ma(I continued putting my documents in my Ups envelope they were spread/scattered on the tile b4)
VO: Please leave this place, go and arrange your file outside, there is a table outside pls( Authoritative and harsh yet somehow polite)
ME:OKAY

Immediately I called my uncle and explained what happened, he told me come immediately, went to the bank and Got his two fixed deposits of 10M and 15M plus his bank statement balance of 1.4M my fee requirement was 13.5M.

I called time2win and asked him if fixed deposit was a liquid fund because the Bank Manager said the F.D was Open Market, I said yes that F.D was accepted but he wasn't too sure if it was a liquid fund. I used it like that anyways submitting the documents the same day.

I was placed on A.P when I checked my status on Tuesday. This afternoon my status changed to ISSUED!

Na God do am oh.
Help me shout 7 hallaluyah to the Most High God!!!
OMG! This was beautiful to read. I can imagine how you felt with all of the "harrassment."

Visa approved this morning at the Lagos consulate.
Got to the embassy around 5:30am for a 6:30am appointment. Joined the queue, did my biometrics and proceeded Window 2 for my interview. My interview was very short. This is my transcript as I remember:

V.O: Good morning.
Me: Good morning. How was your weekend.
V.O: Very well. Can you pass your documents please?
*passes documents and she examines them for about 10 seconds
V.O: So How did you get to know about this school?
Me: When I decided to apply to graduate school, I made research online about schools that offered research on grid integration of renewable energy resources and I came about Auburn University, amongst others.
V.O: How many other schools did you apply to?
Me: 8
V.0: Have you heard from all?
Me: No. I haven't heard from 3 schools.
V.O: How many schools have you been admitted to?
Me: 3 schools.
V.O: Can you name the schools you haven't heard from?
Me: I haven't heard from Iowa State, Virginia Tech and RPI.
V.O: Okay. Are you married?
Me: No.
V.O: Are you single?
Me: Yes I am.
V.O: Do you have any kids?
Me: No I dont.
V.O: Do you have any relative in the US?
Me: Yes, an aunt.
V.O: Where in the US is she?
Me: She's in Louisiana.
V.O: Congratulations, your visa will be ready in 3 days. You can pick it up at this location. You'll get a text from us when it is ready. Have a nice day.

Lol. To think I prepared all weekend to talk about my research and that wasn't even asked at all. Wasn't asked for GRE or Toefl scores or my funding. Felt rather anticlimatic as I was ready to answer questions about my research. lol. But regardless, I give thanks to God.

Grateful for this thread as it was very helpful in my preparation. Goodluck to everyone and see you in Trumpland or whoever owns the land in 2020.

Congratulations!

Hey Guys,

I need your help. I got an offer for a PHD chemical engineering but am confused on which to choose. I need your help fam.

Tulane University : PHD CHEM ENG. 28K STIPEND PLUS HEALTH INSURANCE (HALF)

LSU: PHD CHEM ENGR 25K STIPEND. NO HEALTH INSURANCE.

Pardon the errors .
I think it's left to you tbh. Anyway, I would say Tulane because it ranks better. Since it is also in Louisiana-New Orleans, living expenses are not pricey plus you already have half of your health insurance covered.

Please can someone help review my proposed interview.thanks and God bless.
Why are you going to USA?
I am going to attain a masters in natural resources management in Moscow Idaho, which is a 30credit unit program for the duration of 2years.
Why uni of Idaho ?
I decided on uni of Idaho after considering a few options
The University of Idaho offers broad courses in natural resources and one of the leading research university in USA.uni of Idaho is located in Moscow idaho, also referred to as a gem state, meaning it has abundance of natural resources similar to most Nigerians terrains.
This is important because this program involves numerous research and field practices
I also got interested in prof Bleep research topics which is similar to my undergraduate dissertation and intend to join her research team.
How do you want to pay for the cost?
My father is my sponsor and he works at xxxx
What will this degree do for you?
It will enable be part of the solution for exploitation of Nigerians natural resources to its best form while conserving the environment.seeing that Nigeria has abundant resources that is not been properly managed
What will you do after this degree?
I will return to Nigeria to enforce the knowledge I attained as the natural resources sector is a continuous market in need of more professionals.i also hope to secure a permanent position in the geotechnical company I currently intern in to have the needed experience before starting my career as a consultant..
I have no scholarship, any advice will be appreciated.
If the professor accepted you to join her research team, you should mention it.

When answering the question about your choice of school, try to personalize it. Talk about what studying in the "gem state" will do for you... the opportunities and all that.

It depends on the school(s) you are applying to.
For some, it's compulsory
For others, it's either optional or not required.

Go through the schools' websites, and for more clarifications, email the grad coordinator for that course.

Hello everyone,

Please, was just directed by a Friend to join Nairaland student forum.

I need assistance on 2 affordable schools I could apply for a masters degree. Please, help with names, i'll google and read up about them from your suggestions Please..........

I'll also appreciate if I can get names of schools that does not require application fee payment. I googled and came about Dayton but while applying, I observed I would be required to pay application fee.

I hope to secure a scholarship in the long run as I have good B.Sc result (Business Administration background) and plan on taking a language proficiency test. Kindly point me in the direction of schools I can be lucky with or if your school is currently doing a scholarship programme, Please attention me: I'll take it up from there and do my application.

I await your feedback. Thanks
Check out Tulane University. It ranks 21 on usnews I think. It doesn't require an application fee.

Sorry about this Wasiu. Maybe you should drop your transcript so people here can try figuring out what went wrong. Don't be in a hurry to reapply until you get things right.

For others, I don't think it's safe you apply to schools that want you paying part or even all of the fees before getting your visa. Making tuition payment to the school does not guarantee your getting the visa. The best thing to do is get your visa first before proceeding with payment (and this should even be done when you arrive the school since you will be considering courses, credits and other criteria). There's always a process that allows you get your money back but is it long? Bet.

Hello wonderful people, please help me scrutinize my transcript. My interview is very close. I'll really appreciate.

VO: Where are you going?
me: I am going to New York to study for my master's degree in Environmental policy and sustainability management.

When you're asked where you're going to, you should tell the VO what school you're going to. For example, "I'm going to dash dash university in New York for my Master's degree in dash dash." You would have killed two birds with a stone when you do this (stating your school and city in the same breath).

A lot of other people will also be interviewed so you don't have time to stall until the fourth question before you mention the school you'd be studying in.

Some of your answers are generic. Try to tailor it to what you want please.

Also, guide the VO to the questions you want to be asked. Be in charge of your interview. Be prepared for whatever question you'd be asked irrespective of how impromptu it'd be.

I hope you get your visa. Cheers!

Hey, I think you should ask the grad coordinator if it's okay to do that. It also depends on the conversation you two have been having about funding policies.

Just ask her/him. They are usually very polite and patient with the questions.

Thank you.
Writing TOEFL wouldn't hurt you so if you have the resources, you should. Also, check the schools' requirements (usually on the website) to see if it is a criterion for being admitted, especially for international students. Contact the schools via email or phone calls if you ever need to clarify anything.

Your age isn't a barrier. Your age is just fine.

Yes you can, but target writing those tests before mid-January so there can be enough time (10-15 days) for your scores to get to your intended schools. This would be a good idea if you ace both tests, and do not have to rewrite any.

I'll advise you take your time to read for both of them while preparing your other application materials. You want to do this right once.

Hello house,

Pls I need your help as regards WES evaluation.
For graduate studies, do WES require WAEC evaluation
I have actually submitted my certificate and transcript to WES for evaluation, but on checking my status, it shows awaiting documents (My WAEC result), of which the graduate school am applying to doesn't require it.

I applying for Spring admission and deadline is Nov 12.
Please how can I convince WES that my school doesnt need it.

What can I do.

M actually applying for graduate studies and not undergraduate.

Hey, that's the new WES policy. Your WAEC result must be submitted alongside your transcript before your result can be evaluated.

No WAEC result, no evaluation. That's how it is now.

Please can anybody confirm if this is true? "you have to input your school at the point of registration" is it for GRE or TOEFL? or Both? Please help.
You don't have to input your schools at the point of your registration. You can stall this until about 10pm the day before the test. That is for the TOEFL.

For the GRE, you can only input intended schools in the space allotted it on the test day. You can choose to cancel the scores if you don't want it reported to the schools.
