So attack is short term plan, while defense is long term. This philosophy cuts across all spheres of life, from business to military warfare, to negotiations, to family life etc.

That's why every season Arteta like any good coach tries to strengthen his defense.

Does that mean attack is not important? Definitely not. In fact attack is equally as important but like I said it is a short term goal, while the long term is defense.

Someone may say, attack is the best form of defense. That's true as it also goes to show that the reason for attacking is defense.

As a matter of fact, one if the reasons Arteta preferred Gabriel Jesus is his ability to press. What's pressing? Defending from the front.

Diaz equalised almost immediately after the red card and Liverpool got better. Palace did not choose to draw the game, in fact they could have won except for the cross bar. What happened was that they found themselves on the back foot and had to defend if not Liverpool would win. With the way Liverpool were fired up after equalising, Palace had no choice than to fall back just to avoid losing.

I believe it takes more than mental strength to do that. Tactics-wise, it's difficult for a team to camp another team in their own box with 10men even if the other team dey look for draw.

Don't get me wrong, tactics is very essential in this kind of situation, but tactics alone will fly out the window if the mentality is not there. Mentality first then tactics.

Klopp is an excellent tactical coach and his tactics helped them during that period. But it is their mentality that made Liverpool get better after losing a player not tactics.

At this points, all Obi-dients need to change their naratives from observing the stupidity of the non Obi-dient to praying and fasting for them. It was because Crystal Palace were comfortable with the draw. It happened to us last season. It takes mental strength to do that and the team with more mental strength can still dominate. Though it will be a tough order.

Exactly, that's what I wanted to say and that edge is what is making our attack on the RHS not to be as effective as it is normally.

Arteta's tactics usually favours one side during attacking. That side is where the fullback does not drift infield, while the other FB defends. In the present set up that's the LHS. That's why Martinelli and Xhaka are getting on the score sheet. But we want a situation where things can switch easily to either side depending on the flow of the game. That's what Tomi will bring as White isn't good pushing forward.

Let's see if Arteta would bench him against Bournemouth (which I doubt). If it was Cedric, I would have had big hope that he'll go to the bench but White 'level' in that arsenal team is making it worse for Tomi to break through.

White usually drifts infield during attacking phase to add more bodies in midfield which is helpful but affects our attack as Saka is isolated upfront. Tomi has the brain to know when to drift infield and when to push upfront. This will be his edge over White.

Ramsdale too has his faults because there was no communication which made him to rush out of his line and was caught unawares. However, the blame usually goes to the one with the last touch on the ball like for 'centre ball'

It was mostly Ramsdale's fault. White's positioning already put Saliba on pressure. Ramsdale had no business rushing out because Saliba was still in charge. The simplest thing to do was to nod the ball back to the goalkeeper to clear the ball.

It's basic defending not to give a back pass or header like that towards your goal no matter how the pressure is, you give it at an angle away from the goal.

This would have meant if there was any miscommunication the worst scenerio would be a corner kick.

A direct header back to goal is inexcusable. This is basics.
