But things don't happen that way. Prayers, hopes and aspirations are different from targets. To be realistic, our target is at least 6th. That doesn't mean 1st isn't part of it. Read well. |

kokanepyramid: Doesn't mean you should kill what's on ground,
That's why there's something called sustainable change. You don't change for the sake of changing else you'll run the business to the ground. You need to be strategic, There has to be a road map.
The problem with us is there's no road map, Spy you know at some point I was one of the biggest supporters of Wenger during his rebuilding era until I realised Wenger was just looking for excuses hence I back tracked.
What got us here was we will sell our players then replace them with rookies. We saw what we enjoyed when we had them Carzolar, Ozil and Sanchez kind of players. Sanchez left what did we replace him with, Ozil left we replaced him with Willock even Guen played 10 at some point, Cazorla left what did we get.
Other clubs will replace like for like or even upgrade we will do the opposite reason we are rebuilding till eternity. You have a point here. I totally agree with you. |

Jodera: Lol... I think you're mixing it both ways What I see is productivity, what stats tell me is activity. For example, pepe can take a lame shot at goal, what stats will tell you is that pepe have a shot on target (activity), but me I know that such a shot can never yield to goal on any normal circumstances (productivity).
It's the reason why one needs to dey watch match and see wetin dey sup instead of just looking at livescores.
It's also the big reason why I was against auba starting against man u even tho he was our joint top highest goalscorer going into the game. Stats will tell you I'm crazy for saying such (how can you bench your highest goalscorer and striker for that matter going into a big game), but football watchers will see the point I'm making.
At the end of the day, auba was hauled off even tho we were looking for an equaliser(something that hasn't been done this season) and he was also the most criticised player after the match. Scoreline, ball possession, shots on goal, shots on target, no of tackles, no of interceptions etc aren't activity my brother. They are records of productivity. What do you put on your CV? If you can't provide stats of your performances no employer will take you. At the bolded, isn't that question reasonable? Unless it's for tactical reasons, there is no justification benching your most prolific player. You see why I said you are looking at activity not productivity?

kokanepyramid: That your first paragraph is not true, there are clubs that have fired and hired more frequently than we have and make top 4 and even win trophies, eg Real Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, etc
Hiring a new manager shouldn't be why we should be rebuilding for over 2 decades. You dey talk like say you never been part of management before. Every new management begins a new process. Whether they eventually win a quadruple of titles or not. New management, new plan, new process. |

Jodera: So we are out of Europe just to settle for top 6 now? Why is it that we can't compete for top 4, or are you just deliberately setting the standard low?? I am being realistic. Like I said, by the end of the last TW, our target was not to finish top 4. Please understand the meaning of target. My prayer is to even win the league but as far as targets are concerned, if one is going to be realistic then it's to finished at least 6th. |

kokanepyramid: When was the last time our target was to win the title?, we've been rebuilding since moving to the Emirate stadium. Even the twin towers didn't take that long to rebuild.
Then top 4 was the target, now it's top 6 aren't you seeing the trend here? A rebuilding process begins with a new manager. If we change management now, na to start another process. Last season under Arteta we finished 8th. It's expected that he should improve on that by taking us back to at least EL. From there we can begin to talk of CL placements. I am not going overboard thinking we will be winning titles with this yamayama squad and manager. |

If that Attack does at least send shudders down the spines of opposition Managers and defenders before meeting us, then its a useless attack. We should not be easily predictable in the final third and expect goals. Na why i dey miss Sanchez. Xhaka dey try, but below par performance. Laca dey like a lil above average and barely gets breathing space to play his preferred role.

Well, he's playing that wing all by himself and i expect more work be done on him if that's Arteta's plan. Since Sanchez and Ramsey departure, that's the last season our attack made sense, esp in the final third. That is why Arteta loves Xhaka. He covers the LB whenever he overlaps. Most of us here don't appreciate this. When I said for now Xhaka is the best partner for Partey, the likes of Jodera will be typing 'LoL' for me. |

Tierney and AMN included in that line up could have warned us a draw. I have said several times that Tavares' zeal, running up and down is masking his school boy style of play. I watch ball with my two eyes and I know when a team plays well, I don't need stats to tell me otherwise. Everyone who watched ystdy game knows auba played badly but stats will tell you auba had almost all his shots on target. But you see that bolded, nobody is expecting arsenal to win league, but when your pattern and foundation is to park the bus, then I don't know the rebuilding you say we're doing.
I believe a team rebuilding should b play their game, whether big or small matches (with at least little alterations). Of course they'll lose some, and sometimes they'll win most, then they'll be right to say they need investment to improve. How can you be parking the bus and you now say we're rebuilding? Jodera: Lol... Even the author of "attack win you games, defence wins you league" have one of the worst defence in the league??
La illah!!! Please read that article again. Defense wins you league- doesn't mean you should abandon attack. I have said this so many times but it seems you guys like vain repetitions. Ferguson never had the worst defense in the league. He has always had the top three best defenses yearly and also some of the best and most valuable defenders that have ever graced England. He has also made sure his attack is among the best too. Winning the league requires both. But when it comes to the actual two/three horse-race, it's the defense that matters more. There can be some variances but it's the fact. As for Arsenal, we aren't going to win the league, we are rebuilding and it's the right thing to start the rebuilding from defense. The next phase is to strengthen the attack department. I believe that's the plan for next season. |

I'm not even angry that we lost, cos it's their home. It's the parking of the bus and playing cowardly that's really paining everyone. If after a season, a coach still park bus against teams, you think that coach will take any club far?? In big games form goes out of the window. If you ever watch football you should know this. This same Man United almost beat Chelsea save for Chelsea's superior attack. As for the coach I have already made my point. But for big teams to win big games, they have to spend. Simple. |

I have said that Auba has been useless for some time now and no one seems to be challenging him. I cannot say we are unfortunate to have lost Xhaka because he has his own wahala. The fact is that our team is not as good as the Arsenal name portrays. The Arsenal that should be challenging for titles with Chelsea and co. This team can only compete for a top 6 unless something really phenomenal happens in January. The only mistake Arteta made was to not start AMN and Tierney. Asides that, his selection was OK. I did not expect us to win because United had the better team and they were at home.
To be sure of beating teams like United, Chelsea, Liverpool or City will require a lot of investment and patience. I don't trust Arteta but he seems to be tugging on. On moving to the next phase of our development (next season) we may really need to change manager. |

kokanepyramid: In 2019/2020 season with them Luiz and co, we conceded 48 goals after 38 matches, some teams that finished above us and made top 4 even conceded more, proving that not goals conceded failed us that season rather our woeful attack. Instead of working on that attack first we went on a spending spree buying new defenders after that season scapegoating those defenders that played behind the worst midfield we've ever had, yet still held their own.
Fast forward after splashing almost 200M on defence we have conceded 20 goals in just 14 matches, we are not even midway into the season yet. At this rate if I extrapolate they will concede more than 48 by end of season. Peeps will come here and praise these defenders for holding their own for dropping a worse stat despite playing behind a better Midfield compared to what Luiz and co coped with in that 2019/2020 season.
Take a look at the 2019/2020 table below and tell me if splashing on defence after that season was the best call when you compare with other teams result. Another look at our goals stat further proves that we neglected that area and we've declined much further ever since.
When you are to make business decisions you look at data and analyse critically you don't make decisions because you don't like someone's face. We will finish top 4 this season. |
