Jencejyde: Thomas is too much levels above any of our current midfielders. Esr keeps developing and now begining to understand that one touch footie especially in tight conditions allows you to transition faster. The pass from partey to auba for that goal would never happen if that was xhaka in possession.
The guys vision passing quality weight of pass is just class. Reminds me of when we had Santi. I would not mind the scouts giving us Bissouma. Haven't seen him play for Brighton recently but I would give away anyone in that midfield bar partey to get him or ingwisha of Fullham.
Those boys sabi , very comfortable on the ball and know when to turn . No 1. Leave Xhaka alone. He was an excellent partner for Partey in that double pivot. No 2. Elneny fitted in quite well when he replaced Partey. The grass always looks greener on the other side. No wonder we got a Willian when that money could have extended Balogun's contract. |

Arteta's stubbornness will not make him follow my advice. Anyway this is the team he needs to beat Newcastle today...
Martinelli..... Lacazette....... Saka ................... Smith-Rowe ............. ........... Xhaka........... Partey......... Tierney... Gabriel... Luiz.... Bellerin ........................ Leno.......................
Subs: GK, Holding, AMN, Elneny*, Ceballos, Pepe, Willian*, Aubameyang*, Nketiah
*most likely /expected
Luiz brings more experience and stability than Holding and I think Holding needs a break too. Tierney just has to play and I hope he's okay.
Time to get Partey in the mix. Xhaka was brilliant in the last game, I think he deserves another run out before taking a needed rest.
Lacazette has been our best CF this season. His renewed form should earn him more starting spots invthe centre. |

kokanepyramid: That’s what I’m trying to tell Sod09, it’s a win win for both sides. The free agent would make Arsenal unable to sell him for a fee despite still having a contract, this puts him in a better wage negotiation with his next club. This was similar to what United did with Sanchez But the stingy board wanted to eat their cake and have it. That's what I am saying. Ozil had wanted Arsenal to agree the 7m be spread over 2years to convince him move to Turkey. But when Arsenal threatened legal action he was forced to agree to a termination. Roland17 makes it sound like Ozil proposed the termination but it was actually Arsenal board. Don't get me wrong, I like Ozil and felt it was a waste not playing him (I don't give a damn about politics and religion) by the board, but when it comes to deciding who was right and wrong, the fault is from both sides. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:22pm On Jan 16, 2021 |
Roland17: Contractually there was nothing Arsenal could have done as far as taking him to court. Ozil was not refusing to play na? He did not down tools! The last time I checked he was training every week with the team and participating in all team activities but the club through Arteta chose not to register him for any competition, so how was it his fault?
He had a contract that was binding between both parties and the issue of a real trade never came up until now. Ozil needed to make an important statement with the way he was treated because of his political stance. Did Arsenal offer him to any club and he refused? Arsenal negotiated the contract with him and now he is supposed to force a move away from Arsenal because he has been vilified by the owners and coaches? Come on man! We did Ozil wrong in my books! There is no justification for this. There is absolutely nothing wrong for him to choose to sit and enjoy the last 6 months of a 350K/ Week salary that was negotiated. He did not down tools.
Rather than being appreciated for his decision we have continued to vilify him even on this thread. The deal could have happened in the summer but which club presented any offer? How many clubs can afford his wage? Was he offered and refused? Here we are, he chose to terminate the contract, yet, he is still burdened with the responsibilities of the failures associated with the bad ending.
Arsenal is struggling mightily under Arteta on and off the field but we can not focus on football and make the right decisions knowing fully well that this team is lacking an AM. Instead with no plans to recruit a decent AM because of our financial situation, we freeze Ozil, take months, injuries and COVID to start playing ESR, splash money on Willian/ Renew contracts of players who have no business donning the crest and exhibiting a distasteful and despicable level of mediocrity is managing the locker room yet Ozil is still the main problem.
I will continue to Stan Ozil, this step he took shows he is a class act because he could have continued to sit and enjoy his money. But the club could argue that his off the pitch behavior or attitude, actions and comments may have affected the club businesswise and led to potential loss of revenue. This is law and it's an asss. |

Roland17: I am very sad it ended this way.. By far one of the most magical players I have seen in creating assists especially around the final third..His signing brought back some star power to Arsenal and he delivered some trophies.
He was treated poorly and with disrespect but he has shown maturity and genuine love for the Club by terminating his contract because he easily could have continued to hold the club hostage with his wages or have Arsenal pay part of it at another club but I am glad he has done otherwise.
I will always Stan Ozil no matter what anyone thinks, I think everyone already knows that here..
Now, watch Arsenal waste that money on extending Willian’s/ Luiz or Xhaka’s contract. Watch Arsenal sign a useless Chelsea player with that money.
#RUBBISH! #AWONWERE!! #YOUTHINKYOUAREDOINGME!!!! As good as this may sound to you, I will be cautious until the full story comes out. Ozil caused a problem for the club with his political stance. When he was put out of the team he could have sourced for other clubs and stay in the game rather than sitting down and do nothing to earn big wage. I blame Arsenal for not using him that time as it was a big waste, yet I believe they have their reasons. This deal could have happened during the summer. I am aware that Arsenal actually threatened to take legal action and force him to repay the money he earned while doing nothing if he doesn't agree to a termination (he initially wanted Arsenal and Fernebahce to share his wages for another two years). So he was forced to agree not that he's doing the club a favor. The good thing is that this story has come to an end. A fair end. |

I will say keep dreaming. Bros what you stated here is different from saying no 'sane' manager will choose Elneny ahead of Guen as you claim. Elneny right now is better than Guendouzi has ever been. Guen could turn out an Iniesta tomorrow but right now, he is less preferable than Elneny. #Fact |

kokanepyramid: Which means we are saying same thing, we can’t be giving the club the stick for being stingy, buying average players and also sticking with them and on the other hand we go ahead propping players like Guen who are equally average. The players are not playing for free and stop making it seem they are doing Arsenal a favour by getting on the pitch. It’s a symbiotic relationship bro.
We should be thinking of offloading players like Elneny and Xhaka for better players and not someone like Guen that’s my point. We need fresh air in that midfield. I get your point. Mine is that if our board is not ready to spend to get top players then we should make do with the Guen's of this world and love them like you love your ekuke dog. UNCONDITIONALLY |

kokanepyramid: Emery’s first season Guen wasn’t a regular in the best spell of that season. He was coming in from bench at best. Immediately the likes of Ramsey and co bagged injuries 2nd half of that season and Guen became a starter that was the beginning of the end for Emery go watch that season well.
There’s nothing spectacular about Guen at Arsenal at least. We can’t be complaining about average players and be propping Guen as a replacement. And don’t bring his age to the mix Saka , Smith and Martinelli are younger and pulling their weight.
I am sure if we put the likes of Saka and Martinelli on the market for a permanent transfer or a loan move, top Cubs will want to snap them up. For all the Guen hype he had to settle for a loan move to a bottom half club in Bundeliga.
Arsenal is not a player building organization, look at what we got despite all the patience with Walcott, the last time he faced us he scored with a grin on his face. He didn’t remember the patience we had, look at Giroud in the Europa final against us too, someone Wenger should have binned teytey. These players should contribute effectively or move on please. We can’t be building players at the detriment of results. Let's take it that Guen has been shitt all this while, but you can't deny that his game has improved this season with H. Berlin. Whether this translates to the PL is a different discussion. Brother, sometimes you have to grade players according to their level. Expecting an average yo-man like Guen to grow up in the same life with Iniesta is just being overboard with your expectations. Please leave Walcott alone, he is no Christiano Ronaldo. If you want a CR type, bring your money, plenty money. That's how those who have him got him, not by expecting a Walcott to turn Christiano by force simply because you gave him one year contract extension. |

Yeah, MG was that good then.
It not about building players, MG is a "better average player" than Elneny. Big teams with bigger ambitions like Atlectico, Bayern, dortmund and PSG were credited with insterest buh covid and other position priortisation crippled their finance.
