Why won't you people understand this is not a bid process or bargain example. A fixed buy out clause in a contract is not negotiable. If it was stated clearly in Suarez contract that any bid above 40million Suarez could leave the club then arsenal triggered the clause with the 40million + 1 pound simple as that. The agent gave Arsenal wrong interpretation of the contract clause.

There is a lot of misinformation to this story, so that sentiment got the better of the fans.

£1 in Suarez's case is not reasonable by all standards. Adding £1,000,000.00 to that wouldn't have made Arsenal bankrupt. Whoever sanctioned that bid be it Wenger or the board is to blame for the deal going south.

In a legal situation it is OK. The reason why the deal couldn't be triggered was because THERE WAS NO CLAUSE.

The agent gave wrong information and Liverpool never wanted to sell no matter the circumstances.

Well, a statutory legend as it implies is one who is officially recognised by the club. Eg Tony Adams, Denis Bergkamp, Charlie Nicholas, David Seaman. I hope you know people are inducted into our Hall of Fame.

Ordinary legend in this context are those who just make up the record books.

Rooney gave his best part for United, he doesn't need to finish there, he has legendary status.

Fabregas left at his peak, he failed in his attempt to return back when he could still do things. He shouldn't expect us to rename London Colney after him.

Look at Arteta, came from Everton, gave us his peak career, left, came back to manage us in this trying times. He only needs a title to have his name besides Emirates.

One thing is to be a legend, another is to have legendary status.
Henry became a statutory legend because he finished with us. Same cannot be said of someone like Ashley Cole for example.
