No it is isn’t. My reason isn’t necessarily based on Liverpool/ City (our biggest competitions for the title) dropping points but our inability to raise our game to get the needed results when it happens. We are approaching December and already 9 behind Liverpool and 6 behind City who look poor. The only positive for me is that Odegaard’s injury happened early in the season. I just pray Partey doesn’t take his sabbatical this season because he has been unbelievable for us.
But no one wins the title in November. We all want this title chase to be an easy one. Besides in these 11 few games we have already played the top teams on the log all away. Tells a story.

I understand your point though.

I keep asking, at our worst (injuries, competition, form, officiating, etc), can anyone confidently argue Scamteta can be the difference for us? My answer has always been no and remains no!

There are teams who suffer similar injuries and issues but the fanbase is not as rattled because they trust their coach will make up the difference! That is how I rate my coaches. This scam needs all of his first 11 before we can even dream of watching good football, make we no even talk 3 points.

I will be honest and tell you, even if we sign Gyokeres, Sesko, Isak, J. David and every available striker you can think of, Scamteta will still ruin and misuse them.

Essentially, we have become top 4 contenders again. Chelsea is now above Arsenal on the log! This is so annoying and shameful.
Isn't this conclusion too hasty?

I’d be the first to say Merino had a good performance when he came in. He is still miles away physically but he was impactful in moving the ball forward. Rice is injured, he looks like everything hurts. With Odegaard back, we need to rest Rice, he hasn’t been as impactful. As for Trossard, it’s a shame he is missing these opportunities. I used to trust him with his finishing but he is off and his confidence is down.

I said it 2 weeks ago that the morale of this team is down. Their form and performance has been poor and it is now affecting their psyche. They need someone, preferably a team mate that can rally them mentally because it’s doesn’t seem like Arteta is.
I think that the boys were happy Odegaard is back. His assist to Martinelli would encourage any player. He is also a motivator. I look forward to our next match.

Your still talking of pattern. Lol. It is not our pattern yet when our backs were against the wall, our manager decided to break the UCL record for crosses in a UCL game?? He resulted to crosses because a much more experienced team outsmarted him. He can as well just get Osimhen that will punish defenders with his aerial threats. Afterall, Saka is a good crosser, same for Odegaard and Rice. They'll rake up Assists easily. Goan watch Osimhen at Gala currently. Defenders can barely attempt to stand him. MA has show over and over again that he has nothing up his sleeves when pattern doesn't work. Not to talk of personnel quality. Don't worry, you'll come around. Let's face Palmer and Lavia for now
If you're going to base your pattern on crosses because you want to buy Osimhen then you will need to get wingers who are good crossers. If you will limit Saka and Martinelli to crosses then you won't get the best from them. They are goal scorers not crossers. With them, you don't need a striker.

In our pattern, we create the chance from one wing and finish at the other. The goal against Chelsea is the latest example.

Osimhen>>>>>>>

All those 400 crosses we wasted vs Inter Milan is one game that will make me prefer him. Isak can't bully those CBs in the air and still power down a threatening header in dying minutes. Osimhen can. We don't need false 9 again. That setup na wetin dey cause part of the rigidity of MA cos he'll be thinking how the same false go dey play double or triple roles instead of just their role.

As for Lookman, i can't wait to see we pulled through tomorrow. That's a player we need on that discouraging LW.
Crosses is not our pattern. So our team isn't designed for it. If we sign a striker now because we did crosses against Inter it would be an error.

Osimhen Goal vs Spurs....

Odegaard to Osimhen without the need for all these passes. Muah.

Let's get a Victor. I prefer either to Isak.
Based on how we play, Isak fits better than Osimhen. But then we lacking more in goal scoring wingers than false 9s. Lookman should be your dream guy

Only Arteta knows why he keeps insisting on Trossard starting even when it clear Ethan deserves that chance. Trossard don don favourite boy now.
Martinelli makes me shake my head and hiss whenever I remember how effective Daiz have been for Liverpool this season, that was the kind of player is he, or rather was. Almost same pattern of play, electrifying, fast and clinical. Be like he was told not to ever do any other thing than trying to cut in with his left foot, crosses and light pass all the time, baba try cut with right, play r2, see better road pass the ball but nooo. To dribble player na war, once he see you coming he turns and seek who to pass to, no outside box shoots. Na only tracking back and defending he sabi now, make dem kuku turn am to defender.
Haverzt mmhmmm... cool
Saka.... undecided
And there have been a lot of defensive misshape lately, these errors been covered up because they try to respond to it fast, but it's there and can be capitalised on by a dangerous team.
Anyways, a midfield of Odegaard and Rice with the absence of Merino and Trossard should get the job done at Stanford Bridge on Sunday, I wanna be optimistic because that's the least I can do as a fan, 6 points gap na just 2 matches, if they team can get their head straight this will be a very good ride, cus after Chelsea na cruise matches full list.
I love the way you balance criticism with objectivity.

Arteta relied too much on Trossard especially against Inter, I never expected him not to play Ethan in that game seeing how we needed that central creativity as teams managed to double up on our wingers to kill our game.

You're spot on Martinelli.

Hopefully as Odegaard returns the creativity burden will shift from sides to central so that the wingers can have the space to get into scoring positions.

Exactly.

My own is not even about opposition defeating incumbent or anything like that. Let's just have an electoral process that allows people come out to vote for their candidate without fear of being harmed in any way and let INEC declare the winner (be it incumbent ruling party or opposition)

How can u have political thugs making threats, traditional rulers making threats and INEC changing rules in the middle of the match; yet u expect people to trust the system?

I'm sure even some people who wanted to vote APC in the east didn't come out because they fear their own neighbors and political thugs will harm them if they do say. It's similar to what happened in other parts of the country.

People can always change their minds about a political party and its candidates; let's have a system that allows them express their choice without fear and without possibility of the electoral umpire messing up. Things will definitely change for good.
IREV was supposed to be the game changer before the judiciary messed it up. IREV means nothing. No value at all.

As it stands now we have no electoral system. It's just a thugs battle. That's why you see the party of the ruling class claiming all seats in the LGA elections.

Yakubu have destroyed our electoral system and he's being aided by the judiciary. As it stands now even him cannot control it. The law protects political thugs.

Nigeria is gone like subsidy.

That’s why I believe both the executive and judiciary are complicit in this show of shame.

In what world will the police authority park malnourished kids who participated in a protest to an adult courtroom and claim they are prosecuting them for treason . It’s a shame that Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) the AGF allowed this to happen under his watch . I don’t think these people have good advisers at all.

The judge only showed she’s in cahoot with the executive with unreasonable bail condition set for the kids .

So you want to put the blame solely on the useless judge and exonerate the AGF who is prosecuting them?

The 10m bail is in relation to the charges brought against those kids which is treason- an attempt to overthrow the government.

I understand that we are being held back by some poor/inconsistent officiating however we get get over it and do the do.

Ethan's skills and quick thinking are top notch. He is good. Also, he has a little edge ahead of Odegaard when it comes to shooting. He has this special ability to evade his marker, and let off a well placed shot.

However, he still a lot to add to his game. He has shown he is capable of so much more.
At this point I think he is good enough to have a go at any PL team. Arteta has done his job, it's time for him to allow him to unravel.

It's because of fitness. You need them to be fit plus that game served another purpose- TRAINING.

That's why Havertz, Partey and Saka were brought in. For fitness and tactical conditioning.

Otem is the spirit behind the field/discipline of history humans are learning in institutions worldwide. Every field and human sphere has its own spirit (its energy), and occasionally such a spirit manifests in human form often at the beginning or end of an era.

Praying to such spirits, who are gods (orisha), is a waste of time.

Go and read "The Polymath: Unlocking the Power of Human Versatility" by Waqas Ahmed and learn how to manifest greatness and become an orisha (a polymath) too yourself.

Everyone is an orisha naturally, but evil systems such as religion, racism, poverty, tribalism, and the likes often prevent most humans from realizing their core nature as an orisha.

Even the education system on planet Earth is poorly structured as exemplified in the picture below. If humans are lucky, nature will allow the good-natured polymaths to restructure it in a way that allows harnessing the full potential of the human brain to help any average person become a polymath (orisha).

At some point in the future, toxic things like AGI, ASI will threaten the existence of humans on planet Earth and drive the Homo sapiens species to extinction.

To prevent such, that's one key reason why the human species always need the good polymaths in their midst.

The polymaths (orishas) are special humans that can exhibit genius level mastery at every field and discipline at the same time. Yes, there are humans like that, and it's even a small feat compared to the what the human mind is capable of.
As per the bolded, are you a polymath now and what are you capable of?

Spy, lol. Apple seeds cant yield grapes. Apples will be apples and so will grapes.

In the ucl so far, we have one of the worst conversion rates for the ratio of chances created. Kai will flourish on that chances created tab, but that's as far he can do. Glad you agree.

Seeing how injuries is impacting our team, we would have needed a striker not because we don't need due to how we play but because you can't use a pattern of play and expect it to yield a sustained tempo of results and goals. Injuries to two key players and our coach is playing 3 flat DMs shows how he is limited upstairs when playing the usual pattern is.

Solution: Get deputies and a striker so we can approach games differently from our usual style. No!!

You're still on this it is working stuff. We are just flourishing in chances created and are wack at finishing. So how is it working this season in ucl with 3 goals from 12/25 big chances, huh?

I've moved past this pattern of play that you keep harping about. Im onto the doing what it takes to never be predictable or caught in a tight space like we were vs Bournemouth. Despite how the chances were created in ucl na 3 goals kpere. We all know that goalscoring is the theme of this year's ucl.

As for the boldened, how is that helping the team so far as regards both goalscoring and finishing. We need a finisher for all the big chances we keep wasting. Besides, respect teams in this ucl. They sabi study everyone and know how to exploit. This is a 2nd year innit, we better use all 5 cylinders instead of making just 2 to work and think that because two are working then the other 3 is no needed.

That Dortmund game many would have given up if it were us not cos we not get firepower or whatever but cos we lack finishing power.
Dave, I am not disputing your points as they are valid, however you're getting some things wrong.

1. When I say the plan is working so far, it's because generally we aren't doing badly both at home and in Europe. This is not sentiments it's facts. This is despite not having a full squad and our best players are out. We don't even know our best team yet and this is Oct ending.
2. It doesn't matter whether we are creating 100 chances and converting just 1. At the end did we win? If we won, Arteta goes home happy. Bayern that have the best striker how's is it going for them?
3. Demanding for a striker to be incorporated into the line up because of 'finishing' sounds more like demanding extra salt in your soup. To add a striker, another player will have to make way which will alter the entire dynamics and playing patterns and systems. If you replace Havertz with a striker, will the striker be creating the chances and scoring them too? Funnily enough, when we had a striker in the tactical plan, we never finished above 5th position.
4. Why compare us with Madrid against Dortmund? Apples and grapes? This team is never going to concede twice in 35mins in the first place. Plus they don't play like us. Plus they aren't having the same injury crisis as us. Apples and grapes.
5. Having a striker is a good plan and may probably work as well. But this is the way Arteta wants to play (here's the emphasis) and criticism is allowed but it has to be constructive because he is not failing for crying out loud.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:08pm On Oct 24, 2024
🗣️Arsene Wenger when asked if he would rather have Harry Kane or Kai Havertz in his team: ‘That depends on the way you want to defend or the way you want to play.

‘Havertz is more of a contributor to the all around game, defensively he works very hard, offensively he scores less goals than Kane and will never score the number of goals Kane scores. He’s more of a 10-and-a-half or a nine-and-a-half.

‘Kane is the centre forward. Harry Kane played for a long time in a team that didn’t win but they have not won since he has left.’

Davep you can see what we have been saying that Arteta did not have a striker not because he didn't see one to buy but because of the way he wants to play. Which so far is working.
