BlueRayDick: Nigerians have mastered the art of suffering and smiling under this administration.
If election holds tomorrow, u will be surprised that a whole lot of people will still vote Tinubu.
Why?
You will start hearing extremely fooolish and unintelligible excuses like : "Jagaban is trying, it's not easy to clear the rot of 24 years in one year " ;But it is easy to quadruple the suffering of the people with useless policies within a year. Plus we have a very short memory. By next year we will forget all that transpired because Naira will go from 1600 now to 1550 then. |

germaphobe: I love our set up and game play but honestly I wouldn't mind if one player scores dem goals and the team achieve success in terms of trophies. Haaland scoring goals doesn't take away the brilliance of other players in Man City. Last season he scored the goals but Foden won a more priced individual award. The era of one player doing all the goal scoring has past. Funny enough it was Pep who introduced total football in this generation where he has goal scorers across the front line. Going back to the ancient tactics of putting the goal scoring burden on one player for me is improper. It is working now but it's a problem that player loses form or gets injured. So the team crashes? Any manager will prefer a team where he has multiple goal scorers than single. Arteta has built a team where a defender like Gabriel can get 7-8goals in a season from set pieces. They have taken it as a responsibility and have mastered it. Now we are the most dangerous in set pieces. For me we are better equipped than Man City. |

Roland17: Under Arteta, we are now at the peak of our spending.
See, I don’t care if he signs Kiki Musampa, I stopped bothering 2 seasons ago. If he fails to win the league/ UCL, I just hope for the sake of the club’s future, his loyalists have the decency to demand his sack without turning amala or reminding me Pep is still in the league.
Please, we are not spending and investing to this level for Carabao or FA Cup. Arteta has been given funds, his choice of players is his business but no one should ever say he wasn’t backed in the transfer market. I acknowledge that he has to win things this season but every other thing you wrote didn't sound smooth to me. I mean 1. He wasn't given funds. We had to sell to buy. 2. We aren't in the peak of our spending 3. Apart from Calafiori, I doubt he got all the players he wanted. I'm not saying they don't have same skillset cos they're similar (ie Odegaard and Bernardo). I just said, "who's the closest thing to their Kdb for us"?.
Odegaard doesn't need to have same skillset as Kdb in other to be "our Kdb" na Ok I get your question clearly now as per the bolded. Odegaard is our main creative oulet same as KDB for Man City. |

Shegzdave: Thank you.
I also understand Arteta tactics but getting a real striker after Nketiah departure is necessary and it must be an upgrade, there’s a reason why Teta always have a real striker even if he rarely uses him.
There are some games where the opponent plays lowblock, this is where a real striker who is good with head and already proven is needed.
I hope Edu and Teta do what will Favour the team sha cause them must show workings this season You are absolutely correct with the bolded. Let me add and mid-block defending too like we saw against Aston Villa, a quick striker would have gotten several 1 on 1 chances once he escapes the high line offside trap. However, Arteta has other ways as I noticed how he broke that mid-block against Villa by overloading the midfield with Timber and Havertz while pushing Saka and Trossard higher ...... Trossard....... Saka.............. Rice........ Havertz...... Odegaard ....... Timber ....... Partey............. |

Jodera: Tbh, I've made my research before I came to that conclusion. First time I saw that under Ebl, I was surprised cos he's really someone I respect his work, but in this aspect I fully disagree with him
In midfield, all attack flows through prime Kdb for Man City not Bernardo In midfield, all attack flows through Odegaard for us.
Statwise, they might be similar (perhaps in terms of assist or so) but if you delve deeper, you'll see that most expected assists(xA), chance creation, Key passes, Big chances created are all Odegaard's forte in Arsenal.
Who do you think has all those stats in Man City? It certainly won't be Bernardo.
In terms of dictating and breaking down low blocks for arsenal when things gets tight(like dropping into midfield and starting attack). We call on Odegaard. Same thing Kdb does when things gets tight.
I don't want to talk about their skillsets cos Odegaard and Kdb are different kind of players with different skillset but the mantle, leadership and role, both have been the go-to guys in this team.
Lol, lastly I saw your post earlier today about us benching Odegaard if we want to play Man City. It was funny and I just laughed then but now I understand cos you're really seeing him as our Bernardo, cos if you'd seen him as our Kdb, you'll know that will never be an option no matter how. I understand your point but it depends. Usually if Silva is playing central midfield KDB acts as the runner. Both of them are AM and can be related to Odegaard in skill set. |

Shegzdave: I mean how hard is that to see We need a real striker and not some false 9, almost if not everyone on this thread had also agreed we need a good striker and someone is talking about comprehension issues
Some crosses into the box where we need a real striker to finish it off and Osihmen is a real striker also good with his head but we mustn’t sign him but some false 9 who isn’t always present in the box. Arteta's pattern does not require a true striker. That's why Nketiah became useless. Personally I wish we could add a striker only of top quality. But I also know that as far as our tactics are concerned, we won't need him. I have said it here on several occasions when defending Havertz and Jesus that they are not playing as true strikers but you people refuse to listen to superior opinion. |

Let Trossard get his chance and let us see what he does with it. There’s no need defending Arteta when he has not given Trossard that chance and he bungled it On second thought It's possible for Trossard to start without risking his defensive output We can focus on creating from the right with Saka and Odegaard and then allowing Trossard to drift from the left towards the centre as we saw in the goal Then when out of possession, Rice can be the cover for the LB while either Havertz or Trossard himself can cover the middle spot Goes back to what I said that it's all tactical Cc Jodera, Davep |

BlueRayDick: Nelson is not closer to Trossard than Martinelli one bit. Take a look at the attached stats screenshot for all 3 players; let’s focus on 2023/24 which was our best season in years
Frame 1 is Nelson’s
Frame 2 is Trossard’s
Frame 3 is Martinelli’s
You don’t need a seer to tell u that Trossard’s place is on the pitch and not on the bench.
I already told u the tactical reason excuse does not fly cos Trossard does practically everything Martinelli does (and better sef) First of all, if you want to compare style of play you should use heat maps not stats. Secondly, take a look at Trossard 21/22 his best season for Brighton and 23/24 his best season for Arsenal. He scored more goals coming from the bench 16 out of 34 than when he started in 32 games. Tells the whole story. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 6:07am On Aug 25, 2024 |
It is easier to score coming from the bench than when starting.
It's more come from the bench and score within the last 10mins, than to score within the first 10mins.
The obvious reasons are because opposition defenses are down physically and mentally. They are out of ideas and are more prone to poor decision making-; wrong position, poor alertness, slow thinking and loss of concentration.
In the Euros, Fulkrug will come from bench and score for Germany, but Havertz was always preferable to start.
The same thing with Garnacho or MC Tominay for United.
That doesn't mean whoever starts cannot do the same things. Or who comes from bench is not good enough. It's just tactical. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:56am On Aug 25, 2024 |
BlueRayDick: No now 🤦♂️
Saka and Nelson are two different players that do not relate with this situation at hand. Saka is 100% clear of Nelson; everyone knows Saka and Nelson are not equals irrespective of Nelson getting clutch goals .
On the other hand, you yourself had confirmed Trossard and Martinelli are two equally good players in their own right. Now what we are saying is Martinelli’s form is below par and we have a Trossard his equal that keeps getting the job done but languishing on the bench . Something has to give .
If Arteta continues to claim an out-of-form Martinelli on the pitch is the tactical requirement he needs to see this season through; I won’t be surprised to see Trossard dumping us for another big team by the next transfer window If form is your issue then I have no arguments with that. However I stand on my tactical reason. Please note that I didn't mention Saka at all especially in connection to Nelson. I mentioned Nelson because of last two seasons when he was coming from bench to score. Let's be honest, it's easier to score coming from the bench. Nelson is closer to Trossard than to Martinelli. He is more useful when we dominate the opposition box and searching for a late goal. Apart from that he is not reliable in open play and transitions. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:43am On Aug 25, 2024 |
BlueRayDick: Well, if he had performed his attacking duties right we wouldn’t have much defensive job to do in the game.
It’s not like Trossard always stroll when we are on the defensive side tho. I agree Martinelli always track back to our box when we lose possession but it’s not like he recovers the ball most times he does that. He just comes to support the defenders which Trossard and every other member of the team does as well.
That should not be enough to seal a place for him in the team when a more potent attacking threat is sitting on the bench Both of them are good. Trust me. The little difference in their style of playing is what is keeping Martinelli on the starting lineup not because he is better. Remember when Nelson was coming from bench and scoring? When he was given a starting chance what did he do? Remember when Martinelli was coming from bench too? He started scoring also. It's just tactical. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:39am On Aug 25, 2024 |
BlueRayDick: The bold is incorrect . Go and watch the full match again. Everything u described here is what Trossard can equally do.
Throughout the match yesterday Martinelli didn’t take any man out 1v1, he had the ball several times and failed to transition it like u are crediting him for now.
When Trossard came on, he was doing exactly what u described Martinelli could do in this paragraph. He was bursting forward with the ball at his feet, running down the flank , creating chances and taking on his man 1v1. Except we watched different matches .
I am one of the biggest Martinelli Stan and I do really really like him for his energy and tenacity ; but as it stands it is criminal if he starts ahead of Trossard going forward . Both of them can do what each other does. The question is who is better at each instance. My observation is that Martinelli is better with 1v1 situations, tracking back, ball to feet etc while Trossard is better at making runs, ball to space, positioning, finishing. That doesn't mean that the other is zero at those things. Like I said, Martinelli starting is purely tactical from my view. Not because he is better. If Trossard can guarantee you as a coach a goal for each sub appearance, you will use it maximally. If we begin to start Trossard trust me he will fade off faster than Martinelli. Also Martinelli can equally come from bench and score a goal. He is that good too. What Arteta does for me doesn't look like starting who is better but rather a tactical plan. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:33am On Aug 25, 2024 |
BlueRayDick: The tactical reason is not showing on the pitch one bit. We could’ve scored 2 to 3 goals in the first half if Trossard was on the pitch and Martinelli was on the bench .
Lucas Digne was really on Saka at the right side of attack and that made it imperative for us to channel our attacks through the left with Martinelli having cash to beat most of the times.
Martinelli just kept taking the wrong decisions over and over again thereby bungling our chances of getting a goal early in the match. It was frustrating watching him do absolutely nothing with the ball till he either gets dispossessed or over hit the ball in a bid to pass to another teammate .
Trossard on the other hand knew when to sprint, when to release a pass , when to shoot and when to attempt a shot.
If Villa had scored one or two goals , all those Martinelli’s underwhelming performance would’ve come back to bite us in the asss You are right in your observation but this here is the reason Martinelli will always be preferred. I call it transitions... 👇🏾 Shegzdave: Why I feel he’s starting ahead of trossard is cause he defend and trackback better than trossard |
