As usual thrash. What have you said to address your previous post?
If you want to be combative you are more than free to do so. You want me to address something that you yourself cannot address. The sooner you realise I have nothing against Nigeria the better. You think you're having an argument, when you're not grin.

Have you yourself not had a preferred list of MRAP's, IFV, ICV'? What makes your number 10 on the list worst than your number 3? Especially if the company producing number 10 has also met all required "standards". To say that ARA will be one of the best MRAP's in the world is false, and you know that. Such will take time, years of user feedback, operational use, years of design modifications. You know that, act dum.b if you want to, up to you.

No one is saying ARA is cra.p, just get that part into your head.

Stop the pettiness! I expect better from u. Proforce ain't stupid, it's a professional organisation that do bids based on clients specifications. What is evident is that the ARA MRAP meets CT/COIN dynamics and can be upgraded depending on combat exigencies. What everyone knows is that the Nigerian Army is a battles tested Army to learn from. That's what Generals do not whine in contempt.
There is nothing petty in my comment. I'm correcting someone who says this product will be one of the best in the world, simple. There are literally hundreds of companies world wide with the same skill sets as Proforce, who make (or have the ability) similar products, BUT who have been around for longer. Then someone says its going to be one of the best, when its only 3 weeks old? Take a neutral position and I'm sure you'll admit that's simply a made up comment which needs correction.

I have nothing again Proforce. You are free to believe that or not.

Europe laughed at China years ago, but today China is king. Those Nigerian army engineers, Proforce engineers you ridicule have used, repaired, dismantled, reassembled, studied for five years, five different MRAPS from RSA, USA, and mastered every tech in them. Nigerian made ARA will shock the MRAP world beating the best. Nigeria will build ARA cheaper than rivals, sell cheaper, take over the whole African market. Envy and jealousy kills slowly like HIV AIDS.
This comment shows how serious you are in contributing anything meaningful to this thread. I'm embarrassed for you.

What makes a MRAP 100% battle ready and perfect?

List them and tell me if Proforce won't meet those standards. After meeting those standards, tell me how they are not one of the best.

You're just one ignorant man who just can't hide the fact that you hate reading good news from Nigeria. In a tech market, being new in the game doesn't mean you can't produce one of the world best. I hope you know that?

Chill ama school you. What's the difference between a university student reciting a multiplication table and a secondary school student? They're both perfect at it. Time means nothing.

In hi-tech, we've seen alot of new game changers.

You and your wacky opinions tho'.
Oh gosh...here we go again. Am I not the one who told AK to stop his nonsense about ground clearance because he was talking cr.ap? Has absolutely nothing to do with Nigeria. My dear if I was jealous of any particular African country when it comes to defence products, it would be Sudan, not you.

Your friend said that this MRAP will be one of the best in the world. Why argue for the sake of arguing when you know this won't be the case? Unfortunately in engineering, you simply can't escape something called experience. That's really all that matters.

Since they replied to Henry, why don't you ask Proforce if they did a full scale blast test. Also ask Proforce what CFD and FEA package they used when performing such test, I would really love to know. Also from their products you can see that they are not yet confident enough to work with curved plates.

I never said its a piece of cra.p, so relax with your emotions. Let me ask you a simple question...before this Nigerian MRAP came along did you consider all other MRAP's to be the same? All were equally good? You never thought one was better than another, since all "standards" were met? Almost everyone here has stated in the past their pro's and con's of a particular vehicle, now you want this one to jump to the front of the queue because its yours? Chill

You are free to share with us what new game changers this MRAP brings.

Indeed + the army experience against terrorist pretty sure we are going to build one of the best MRAP worldwide ! ARA is just good
No. You are not. You know you are not. Everyone knows you are not. Just accept small victories and build from there, instead of making fairytale claims. You are not suddenly going to leapfrog others stretching from Russia, Turkey to the U.S (and everyone in between) on your 1st attempt.

Rather say Proforce will deliver a MRAP that meets the requirements of the Nigerian Army and leave it at that.

Denel Skua target drone. This was the first Denel product which caught my attention back in high school days.
The drone itself is very rarely used as a target, instead it drags targets behind it. Parachute system flips it upside
down after a test, to that it doesn't land/crash on the expensive engine smiley

Only for final qualification of missile systems do they actually blow one up directly.

Your opinion. It doesn't matter.

If you don't own a submarine withing blablabla, I'll say don't bother.

Now the navy is interested.

We don't need to develop to gain a market share. We can for our military alone. Eg DRDO projects only few other countries use DRDO products.
Owning/buying are separate from making. Its the exact same reason why every mechanic in the deepest bush knows what a bearing is, but only a tiny handful of countries actually produce bearings. New entries will always be behind the market in such a specialized technical field.

Missile designers are currently working on 5th generation technology. Your first attempt won't be technically close to that, I think you know that. Neither will your 2nd attempt. So your military will agree to use them why exactly? Unless you run a separate intense research programme & approach your military in 15-20 years time with a solid product.

Impressive. We need IFV's capability. I need a Nigerian company into missile defence systems maybe a huge amount on ToT will do.
If you don't enter the missile systems market within the next 5 years, I would say don't bother.

What about her immunity? That means causing a diplomatic row.
Legal experts have said she doesn't qualify for immunity. Apparently in SA it must be announced before entry into the country, and tabled in the government gazette first. They didn't do this with her. So technically she's a fugitive. But yeah, our government will find a way around its own rules.

To the South Africans here. Just read about your red alert on Grace Mugabe. What happened to her diplomatic immunity?

Are you trying to say if the Zimbabwean govt has to send a presidential aircraft to take her out, you'll have the aircraft grounded?

Note : Diplomatic immutiny. You can't search the aircraft too.
No one knows what's really happening. You know how things are on this continent, "brothers" help each other. She's going to leave SA, whatever red alert lie the government tells us.

But the Zim aircraft landing would be irrelevant if it landed. There are thousands of places to arrest her before she even sets foot on the tarmac.

The comments made by AK are quite clear. There was not intent to malign or whatsoever. He made a comment based on his own knowledge, neither did he make any claim to be an expert in the field.

There was no intent at ill-will or to start any thread war.

You on the other hand, had to point what isn't there in the first place.
Starting thread wars does not have to be started by any ill intent or ill will. It can be an innocent comment and all it takes is a reply. You have been here long enough to know that. Act dum.b if you want to. I simply advised him, he replied to ME explaining what he meant, and I left it.

You just feel the need to exert fake internet authority on certain people here, but I don't take your nonsense. Even your reply to me makes no sense.

"State trials are about to commence, as soon as that is completed, we would know how to progress from there.

As it is, the vehicle is already an excellent platform, feedback from the field would guide the engineers on what areas to further improve upon
."

What has that got to do with what I said to him? You just typed for the sake of typing. Kindly go sleep. And to stop from any derailment, this is my last reply on this matter.

Grow some common sense.

State trials are about to commence, as soon as that is completed, we would know how to progress from there.

As it is, the vehicle is already an excellent platform, feedback from the field would guide the engineers on what areas to further improve upon.
The only one lacking sense here is you. If you bothered to understand what my point was, I'm telling a fellow South African NOT to jump and say wheel base is too short or too long, or this is too this or that. And then comparing it to a South African product by just using pics as reference. Such has the tendency of starting thread wars.

As you say, trials will determine what may need changing. Not analysis by eye. So your attempt at being big daddy has failed. Thanks.

These 2 pictures may kindly explain.

- Pic 1, note the suspension of the RG 31 Mk5, a similar class vehicle. Note those obstacles the vehicle passes through. (that's just for show, testing is done on something bigger)

- Pic 2, note this vehicle flatting an incline. Only high suspension vehicles (on longer wheel base) pass this basic test.

As you said, it's a prototype and field testing is yet to be done and modifications would be expected which is perfectly fine.

Not necessarily true. Such vehicles have survived bigger blasts (well the crew has survived). But then again, its not an exact science. Relatively small blasts have killed soldiers in quite heavily protected vehicles.

If the SANDF had a bigger budget, one wonders all the things the CSIR would be researching.

Anyways, who still remembers the "stealth tracking" CSIR passive radar?
Work on passive radar to track stealth aircraft is still on- going at CSIR. But they are also working on commercial utilization of the technology. The commercial application is what you'll hear them talk about most at conferences. Military application of such technology will probably fall under the likes of Link-ZA crypto codes in terms of government secrecy, so Nairaland won't hear much about that unfortunately.

So to summarize, they aren't working on it with the express view that someone with stealth aircraft will attack us soon, but they are well aware of its applications and someone somewhere is working on it.

Fun Fact. Not a new fact, but still fun fact. South Africa is developing an active off board decoy for its frigates to protect against in-coming missiles. As with how most of these systems work, the decoy is launched off the vessel as a missile approaches and draws it away using electronic magic. Thats the plan anyway. Various institutions have been working on this for a few years now.

Since we're on the topic of simulators.

http://cadefence.com/project/periscope-simulator/

Cybicom Atlas Defence, in conjunction with the South African Navy, has developed a periscope simulator (PSIM) to provide training for the Zeiss Sero 400 Attack Periscope found onboard the Heroine Class Submarines.
The PSIM consists of a ceiling mounted mock Zeiss Sero 400 Ocular Box and Instructor Work Station (IWS). The PSIM Ocular Box has been constructed according to specification using a combination of computer-aided design and CNC machined and welded sheet-metal to achieve the best look and feel of the onboard attack periscope while adhering to stringent budgetary constraints.

The PSIM Ocular Box houses the PSIM Ocular Box IG and associated electronics and optics.
The PSIM Ocular Box is capable of hydraulic eye height adjustment and incorporates AC motors, inverter drives

The PSIM IWS includes the PSIM IWS IG, which provides the instructor a view of the mirrored generated images of the scenario as seen by the operator/student from the PSIM Ocular Box IG. The PSIM IWS also includes the PSIM IWS Scenario Manager, which allows control of the following features:

Features

Aircraft (fixed and rotational wing) Movement
Ship Vessel Movement
Man Overboard
Day and Night Simulation
Accurate Rise and Set times for Sun and Moon
