kikuyu1: @ActivateKruger and jln115,on the 15th I said: Many nations,Kenya included have secret accounts for war-to enable rapid recruitment, acquisition etc etc. Last time I heard of ours in Kenya was over 10 years back and it was at least 2bn$. Naij must have a similar extra budgetary facility. Yeah even South Africa. Special Defence Account. But I doubt ours is anywhere close to the $2bn range. 2015/2016 financial year an amount of R6bn was transferred to the account to "acquire, procure and develop armament and technology" Whatever that means |

ActivateKruger: ~ Doesn't use radar, it's safe from being radar jammed ~ Doesn't use heat seekers, it doesn't fall for flares ~ Doesn't leave smoke, it cannot be traced back to its source ~ Can be fired from any angle and engage even if the enemy is behind
So the enemy won't see radar warnings, he won't see smoke.... Bang, he won't know what hit him.
We have a winner here. Its an infrared missile, so it does use heat seeking. But has been specifically designed to overcome countermeasures. Seeker can "see" certain profiles/dimensions, so it knows the difference between an aircraft and decoys. Velocity of target is also cleverly added to the algorithms, so it knows the difference between a flare which immediately starts decelerating when deployed compared to the target. Clever stuff.

Only public pic that I know of....SAAF Gripen firing A-Darter. Few more months and the SAAF will be in possession of one the most agile (if not the most) AAM's currently available.

SupremeCourt: Look here dude, am not in your group of boxers throwing punches here, when Nigerians came up with 12 su30 Russian aeroplanes purchase I did not spare them, I insisted it was wrong it as if I am enemy of NAF buying su30 jet planes, you did not call me a liar that time. Dont loop me in your endless loop, because you as a person, you personally love to tell lies, that does not make everybody else a liar like you. South African military big Generals came to Abuja ship house to trick DHQ to reveal all millennium anti-terror war secrets of defeating Boko Haram to them via mutual training exchange program, but NDHQ denied. Simple as ABC. Sounds like Augustine is back |

Henry240: I post them here daily. Then, what you want to agree with or disagree with is inconsequential and of no meaning.
However the fact is Nigeria and Poland both evaluated the Rooivalk recently, Nigeria rejected it. Poland would also do same. My mistake was that I assumed you were basing NAF view on Rooivalk off an official statement, even a leaked report on its suitability. So in essence you have become their spokesperson. But no worries. Let's go back to posting pics. |

Henry240: The Nigerian delegation found the helicopter to be very inferior. If the Nigerian Air Force thought differently, we would have gotten a statement indicating interests.
It's the stark truth, you don't like it doesn't make it false. Who is "we would have gotten"? Nairaland? Kindly post all equipment that Nigeria is interested in purchasing here for us to see. And while you are at it, also please kindly post NAF internal report regarding the suitability and assessment of Rooivalk. |

Henry240: This is true, even the honest South-Africans here can confirm it, i can also post a link in this regard.
The Rooivalk was demonstrated to Nigerian and Polish delegations and we found it to be very inadequate and grossly inferior. Hence we went for the MI-35m. And if Nigeria had found Rooivalk to be superior, would you even have one by now? Just one. Setting up production line, re-tooling, etc those things would still be happening. Nigeria never came to SA for any immediate helicopter needs. Its was never MI-35 vs Rooivalk. You know this. But oh well...carry on |
