Both Ideye and Uche seem to be on different wavelengths for the time being but when they 'agree', these Burkinabes go hear am! |
I just pray that Uche would settle down and get a goal for us. He looks out of sort today! |
Mamadou Gaye is a good but not a great panelist. Often times than not, he fails to realize where to put sentiments aside and face facts. I have listened to him make terrible comments about Nigeria in the past that most of us here would be shocked to hear. His criticisms against the soft penalty awarded in favour of Zambia while 'sweet' to the hearing of soccer loving Nigerians should be exposed for what it really was; his disappointment that Cote d'Ivoire didn't win the last edition of the Nations Cup. |
He will surely be missed if he doesn't play. |
All the Super Eagles need do is to take a look at their match against Cote d'Ivoire again. Use that template and victory would be ours surely. We cannot afford complacency and neither should we compare the Burkinabes to the Malians. I was impressed with the play of Bance and Pitroipa against the Ghanaians. We must stop those two from playing! Having come this far, the only result that would be absolutely wonderful is to win. With determination and professionalism; we will do it. |
It's a tight call between Moses and Mikel. Looking at the overall display however, Mikel shades it for me! |
You can imagine the kinds of 'leaders' we are dealing with. Looking for the team to fail so that they can make money in searching for a foreign 'technical adviser'. SMH. |
Appearing ready for battle is the key to winning the war! The Super Eagles must quickly 'forget' today's victory and put their minds on the next match. That is the way of champions; not dwelling on the past but looking ahead. |
Just watching Super Sport and it was confirmed that Nigeria would be playing the winner of TOGO/BURKINA FASO. Which one abeg? |
Mose was outstanding throughout. He had the ball at his feet like an appendage of his boots. Full of running and incisive movements; he was a typical 'professional' today. |
Only the foolish would put a 100% bet against any team. Super Eagles; I am proud of you ![]() |
I don't miss yobo and musa on this match, at all!
This represents the best of the park ATM. Not only the duo mentioned but Fegor too! |
Just believe! |
Surely we can beat these 'Elephants' |
We seem tired and pace less ATM. We should keep up the pressure. This CIV team is not that super and we are the Super Eagles........ |
Just believe! |
What a goal! |
This Tiote guy is as rough as they come. He should have been yellow carded since! |
Our boys are trying just that the passes are inaccurate and overhit. |
What a miss! |
Moses and Emenike will have big impacts in this match. The Super Eagles just need to be business like and we will smile at the end. |
While the fact that the Super Eagles is filled with many debutants could be disadvantageous in critical moments of the match, it could also help to turn the game upside down against popular predictions and expectations. When Nigeria knocked out Cameroun at this stage in 2004, we had so many debutants in the team. The new guys whether we like it or not have not tasted defeat in this competition and most of them NEVER lost any match against Ivory Coast . So lets wait and see....... |
Football is not mathematics. Ivory Coast should not expect to come and 'walk over' Nigeria just because they have some decent players in the squad. Over confidence may just be their undoing in this tournament just like in the recent past two editions. Nigeria should pick up the video of their encounter against Egypt at the quarterfinals in Angola three years ago. What we need to display is pure grit, focus and strong mentality. |
Now on to the toughest challenge of the tournament; beat the Ivorians! |
Lifelines that could result in greatness ![]() |
I am short of words walahi! |
Nigeria need to be more involved in the politics of CAF and world football in general. Its a shame that the Amos Adamu crisis has effectively numbed us out of any influence. |
Too many things to ponder really. Nigeria is not really pulling its weight in Africa and that's why we keep getting these types of 'foolish' referee decisions. |
Its not over until its over; Ethiopia will fall! |
Holding a vice-like grip on the midfield would help a great deal in containing the Zambians. They are very aggressive and mobile but lack a creative touch. Super Eagles must be ready for a fight and should be prepared for a physical game but with discipline; we should nick it by the odd goal. |
The simple mistake they made was to get cut out at the dying seconds. It was painful but they tried. Let's not forget that there was also a red card against us and the referee seemed set out to frustrate our boys |
We should have just defended stoutly towards the end; silly mistake from the Oboabona. But I love the fighting spirit! |
