Daddy Freeze has no right to even comment on this: is he not a divorcee? |
The statement has been taken out of context. By the time an individual has introduced the other half to the parents, that is as good as saying: we are ready to get married. Afterall, most of us showed of our other half first to friends, before even family members. What she is saying is: seek spiritual counsel first. Some have the gift of hearing from God directly. Others may have to rely on their pastors for it. Anyway that it works for you, get confirmation in your spirit man that this is the right person, before you move it to the next level of officially introducing the other half to your parents. I don't know how it will look to keep presenting a different face to one's parents anytime a relationship does not work out. Not with phenomena like "Abuja marriage" which we have these days. |
Grupo:Well. that is his problem. |
TOMMIEYIKES:Client has funded the escrow and you are still doubting? God don carry rain clouds of blessing come your house. You still dey wait make destiny killers here discourage you abi? |
People do not even understand the entire concept. Freelancing means you pick a skillset, acquire it, and offer it to the world. You can use the freelance sites as an avenue to offer these skills or you can do it privately using your global network. You are more or less like a consultant. There is no big deal here and no mystery to it all. |
ASPIREX:Many countries that will provide an investor visa for you to do business will require hundreds of thousands of dollars. Besides let me even ask: what kind of visa are you even looking for to leave Nigeria? Have you looked at the various visa categories for the countries of your choice and known the documentation required? |
Of course they will list just like Freelancer did in Australia 5 years ago. Can't understand why they started raping freelancers with 20% charges as opposed to 8.75% during the Elance days. |
Tomorrow she will accuse him of rape. Guys don dey wise up. |
WetinConsignMe:"These jobs are only meant for our people". "if you allow these people, they will take over this place from us" "Rivers money for Rivers people". "I only take tenants that speak my language." "Bastard nyamiri corporal" (heard this in a military barracks) How do these statements which I have heard over the years differ from the examples you just mentioned? |
Mizwisdom:The content is the same. Whether it is discrimination by colour, or discrimination by tribe. Semantics is not what we are arguing here. I am literate and know the dictionary meanings of racism and ethnophobia. It might interest you to note that the definition of ethnophobia also has an element of racism in it. |
WetinConsignMe:Can I tell you an experience I had in 2015? A new house I wanted to move to, and the landlord said he cannot take me as he only wants tenants that speak his language. I had to slap myself to make sure I heard right. In my own country? |
dochenaj:Thank you. I deliberately ended this angle of the discussion because there was no point arguing with her. Something I have experienced in Nigeria and France and can easily make comparison. I am blessed to be a speaker of more than one Nigerian language and I cannot tell you countless times I have heard shocking ethnophobic discussions being made in my presence in various places in Naija by people who never believed I could speak their language. Some time ago, a VIO personnel in Abuja whom I had a squabble with after he tried to conjure up a fake traffic offence (and whomI rightly put in his place), was muttering away as I drove off in Hausa how these "nyamiris" have taken over Abuja and should be sent back to the South. Institutional racism exists abroad: yes we agree. But what we have here is "ethnophobic, genocidal racism". Look at what the Fulani herdsmen are doing here. Look at Jos, Nimbo, Benue, etc. Does institutional racism abroad even come close to these? A lot of people don't know how far gone Naija is under the current leadership of the country. |
OP my advise to you is this. If you take a poll here, (to go or not to go, or even where to go between US, Canada, etc), you will have naysayers and supporters in equal measure. If you are relocating with your family, you need to know what visa category will cover you, what you will do for money, cost of living, etc. Do not leave Naija without a standing business or income earning endeavour here. I mean a business that operates with a structure and not one that is based around your presence. So when you leave, it is from a position of strength and not weakness. Secondly, take the plunge first. Do not yank your kids and wife off their school and work here to the land of the unknown. Know the industries or sectors where there are skills shortages and prepare yourself here ahead of time. For instance, Norway and Finland has high demand for forklift operators and truckers. So if you were to go there, consider equipping yourself with the necessary certifications to do such work while you scout for your dream job. You should also identify what you want to do for money. Do you ultimately want to work or own a business? Each country has rules and visa criteria for such endeavours. Know these in advance and prepare accordingly. Study the threads for different countries here. There is loads of information for the countries of your choice. |
murphyibiam15:I have a two friends from school who are in Canada as doctors. It may be easier using a specialist pathway via UK or Singapore. Straight movement to Canada as a doc from here is a lot more difficult. |
Babyvet:That's because they have been there so long that they don't know what Naija has become. You probably don't too. US is not the only foreign country too. |
franchasng:God bless you my brother. |
Babyvet:I do not need Google. I have tasted both worlds practically and tangibly. It is not by Googling. |
Babyvet:There is more racism in Nigeria than in any of these places you mentioned. I was in a taxi in PH some time ago when a passenger was ranting at how Igbos have spoiled the Garden City, and stated that she would have no problems deporting every Igbo person from the state if she was a governor. I have heard such several times in Bayelsa, Oyo, and in many states I have been to in Nigeria. I have even been in Enugu and overheard in an office a discussion between two men of how they (the Enugu people) were being oppressed by an Abia man (who was head of that agency) and how they would fight him to the end until he packs his bags back to the Abia village he came from. This is Igbo to Igbo hatred. What can beat that? I don't even want to mention the fact that Hausa is the official language spoken in a federal parastatal such as NEMA. As if we have nothing like federal character in this country (indeed, have we ever had it?). So all this talk about racism abroad is not strange to us. It is here in Nigeria among us. So anyone who can survive the ethnic-based racism we have here in Nigeria can survive it abroad. |
ASPIREX:It would help if you can indicate exactly what you want to do for money once abroad. It will have relevance on what kind of visa you will have to go for and the pathway you will undertake. |
GboyegaD:You are wrong. Laird has summed it up for you. I have relations and lots of friends and classmates in Canada and I do not want to repeat some of the stories here. In case you do not know, cost of living in Canada is quite high and as a elderly immigrant without a Canadian education or knowledge of French, it will be a lot harder. |
Blackmailers should be put to death. |
Why is she not listed on Forbes? Everyone knows that she is a direct beneficiary of her father's rule in Angola from 1975. When the UNITA rebels were defeated, the MPLA government took control of the diamond-rich areas and added to their oil-controlled areas. So who is kdding whom? |
After Sai baba's 2nd term, they should tell us how many of them have transited from being bus conductors to owning their own buses. |
Abitolola:Na wa o. I paid 20k in Nasarawa and fed the women who did it lunch. |
Believe me, the trust factor is two ways. No one will want to part with such amount of money on a faceless basis beforehand, and no seller will just carry goats or cows with no financial commitment to a buyer's location. The only way this can work is to create an escrow system. |
Bolowolowo:How do you cut the cost of transporting the raw materials from a plantation to the refinery if not to site the plantation near the refinery? I suggest you read this material: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/271019960_Economies_of_scale_analysis_and_location_studies_for_fuel_ethanol_refineries and several others like it. |
BigGuyMan01:Make God scatter that your mouth, nonsense. |
Women are emotional beings and are not wired to handle information the way men do. That said, there is a difference between hiding information, and managing information. Managing information means that you only let out what needs to be let out, in a manner that will not evoke negative reactions from the wife, the same way a President of a country is privy to information from the secret service that ordinary citizens are not. Someone mentioned Abraham here in the case of the instruction to sacrifice Isaac. That is exactly how such information is to be handled. Not everything shoud be divulged by a husband to a wife. |
MyGeneration:Please can you explain the bolded? |
This pilot is gonna be grounded for a long time. |
Why we still have these 30+ year old Alpha Jets that were used during the days of ECOMOG in our air fleet just beats me. I was in traffic at Eagle Square when one of them buzzed us with low level flight displays. I nearly went deaf from the noise. |
Kelvin30286063:Is that the kind of language to be used to redirect someone in the wrong polling unit? Stupid policeman. When they get killed and their families are starving, they start running helter skelter for help. |
