I actually jam the keys. But don't do so much of it these days due to family and work commitments though I am trying to get back to it.

@Stagger
I have learnt and taught myself to stay off your post or comments or threads.
The reason is i don't take to being derided or snide at when i express myself which i notice you are very good at.
I will appreciate if you can pass your message across with some decorum.

The above statement is totally uncalled for.
I can see you are too childish to learn anything from this thread or this forum. You love picking quarrels with anyone and everyone. Who was deriding anyone here? Did you even read the posts well at all to see what point was being made? You see what you want to see and believe what you want to believe.

Your hormones do your thinking for you, not your brain. I am out of here.

The only people that make use of cassava in my area is garri processors. Every 1 in 4 household has a local gari processor. A 50kg garri sells between N3,000 to N3,500. Most time is the northerners that come with trailers to load it.
In essence we have supplus gari
Yes. There is a company named Niji Lukas located in Ilero. a village also in Saki area.
I think he does some exportation
They load at N3,500, transport it to Dawanau market in Kano where buyers come and buy all the way from Niger, Chad, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Northern Cameroun. They smile to the bank and the only people who are crying are the Saki farmers.

Doesn't that indicate that the farmers are not getting this right? Processing has gone beyond the household stuff I personally used to do in my backyard when Buhari's essenco policy was pounding Nigeria hard in 1984/85. You need capacity with modern machines to produce volume. That is the only way it can be viable.

what of converting to garri? There is so much demand for garri. it doesnt need advert. Dont u think u will.make.more money turning it into garri, increasing shelf life, storing and even selling off harvest season?

Is there a way to automate frying garri and still get ijebu quality?
Very possible. The very sour nature of Ijebu gari is simply because instead of the regular 2 days fermentation, the cassava pulp is left to ferment for 7 days.

There are automated gari friers. The last I checked with Capsfeed or NVNL, it was N450,000. The issue is that it takes at least N4m to N5m to setup a basic processing unit. This includes the building, fencing of the land and other capital expenses not related to the core machinery. Though amarawa was talking of a complete processing unit that goes for N500,000. He dropped a name but I could not get any information on the company online.
AgricultureRe: The Cassava Story. Profitability And Loss Theory by stagger: 11:16pm On Feb 16, 2015
A very enlightening story, but not strange for those of us who have done some business with government. The truth is this: you can never put critical aspects of your business in the hands of government or those claiming to represent govt.

I have had people bring proposals to me worth hundreds of millions of naira. For that particular business, the YouWIN grant gave me massive capacity to the point where I now deal with foreign clients. So I have Nigerians bringing proposals, hoping to leverage on my capacity. They tell me things like "the Minister is interested in this.." or "I have a link to the Presidency..." to "this job is for the government of so so and so state. In fact, we just met the governor the other day..." and all the blah blah blah blah blah.

When they come with this big talk, I laugh. I have been doing business since I was a teenager in the 80s. I can tell you I have seen a lot of things. People come with all sorts of big talk, big promises, big dreams. I simply laugh and put a few questions to them and puncture everything they say. Some rethink the whole job, some get annoyed, leave and then run into an endless frustrating cycle.

Back to our agriculture. You see, anyone who clearly studied OBJ's agric program which was led by Boma Anga will see that there was a lot of loopholes in the whole stuff. Noble idea, but bad implementation. No legal framework to back anything up. When it comes to cassava, you can NEVER make any money hoping to sell to processors, unless maybe like Legsupnigeria, you just have the good luck of meeting processors who can respect a commodities futures contract the way it is done abroad.

The only way to go is to buy your own processing equipment, then identify a market for your product BEFORE planting. The high perishability rate of cassava puts farmers at the mercy of processors and the processors know it. The processor can hold out for as long as possible. The farmer can not and eventually, the farmer will have to give in.

Everything in life has a plan. If you are in cassava and you are not making any plans to build your own processing factory, no matter how small, you will be in for a very long and frustrating journey. That is just the way it is.

We should also look at a number of factors. There is a lot of talk of E-10, which is supposed to be the new fuel for cars in Nigeria with 90% petrol and 10% ethanol. Do you think that project will see the light of day as long as the fuel import cabal is in place, donating billions to the ruling party? I think not. Point here: try not to depend on a govt policy. In Nigeria, policies are only as old as the governments that formulate them. We can see how difficult it has been for the composite flour policy to take off.

My 2 cents is this. Farm other crops, save money, buy your cassava processing equipment, identify a ready market for your PROCESSED CASSAVA (not raw tubers), before you actually start planting. You can sell gari, starch and flour to end users with good marketing and make your money. You do not need to put yourself in the hands of the mobile processors, companies like GIZ and all. Not worth it.

Infidelity is the worst of all marital sins. You are a BAD spouse if you cheat on your spouse.
Car TalkRe: Automatic Vs Manual My Experience. by stagger: 11:52am On Feb 16, 2015
gmaribel:
I bought my first car a few days ago (Automatic Transmission) and right from day one I have been driving it within and around the estate where I reside. I have never taken the car out on the highway before.

I then wanted to perfect my skills as a driver so I called on a friend who drives a manual car to teach me. When he arrived I went to get the keys of my car but he said no! you are not using that car you will use my own car to learn.

I got into the car apprehensive and started it after setting the gear to neutral and then on his instruction I depressed the clutch fully, put the car in gear one and was told to press the accelerator gently while i gently lifted my leg from the clutch. The car moved but just as I was getting comfortable I was told to change to gear two....... as I was fumbling with the gear not knowing which is gear two I had to brake but then my instructor told me because I had come to a full stop I had to start from gear one again.

I got to a small hill and somehow the car stopped just as i was climbing it the car stopped again. When I started it with my legs on the clutch and brake, my instructor told me to immediately place my leg on the accelrator and move but what I saw was the car moving backwards............... in short after 45mins of driving I saw that the difference between an automatic car and a manual or stick-shift car is as great as day and night.
Mr man, go and learn how to drive from scratch. I learnt with a manual stick and I drove manual sticks for 15 years before I got my first automatic stick. Right now, my wife uses the 2 automatic sticks while I use the only manual stick in the house. There are things I can do with a manual stick which you cannot get with an automatic stick.

Why do you think F1 and motor rally cars are made with manual sticks?

A drunk man tried to dance with the wife of AIT's Efenji Efenji on Valentine's Day. A scuffle ensued and in the melee, Efenji was stabbed to death.

There are too many irresponsible men around. You see a girl and you just think you should approach her and try to dance with her? That is nonsense. Soldiers of course are known to overdo things, but as someone who has lived in a military barracks at some stage in life, one thing I found out is that soldiers do not take kindly to people fooling around with their women. Plain and simple.

There are many places to chase women and there is a technique to it. I certainly will not go dancing with just any woman. At least try to find out if the woman is alone or came with a guest. It could save you black eye or two.

I will take the first step by visiting a branch of the Bank of Agriculture, the Fed Ministry of Agriculture and 2 river basin authorities. Purpose of visits are:

a) Requirements for BoA account opening and loans.
b) More information about the e-wallet and biometric farmer registration.
c) More info about the Nagropreneur scheme.
d) Land lease.

Will also call the IITA to inquire about the new wonder maize seedlings reputed to deliver 5 to 6 tons of maize per hectare, while requiring little rain and being highly resistant to Striga. Update within the week.

The only people with a penchant for violence are the APC thugs. Here in the north, they have stoned the president's convoy three times and are actively beating up people who dare mention GEJ's name anywhere they are. In a car wash, one of the boys there who washes my car sometimes was openly swearing in Hausa that they will stop at nothing to make sure that GEJ does not come back.

These APC thugs here are killers. We need more Mbus to stop their nonsense.
AgricultureFarming Season 2015 by stagger(op): 7:08pm On Feb 14, 2015
Hi guys. We are in February, which is just two months away from the start of the rainy season. Those of us in the northern part of the country have not seen a drop of rain since November last year, so we are eagerly waiting for the rains to commence.

What is the aim of this thread?

a) To get those who have never participated in agriculture to use this vocation to change their story this year.
b) State the practical facts on cultivation of staple crops such as maize, cassava, vegetables, etc.
c) Dispel the myths surrounding farming.

Please the experts here should help us out with the following information:

- What does it take to operate an account with the Bank of Agriculture?
- How does an intending farmer get registered in the national database of farmers, and consequently get the e-wallet registration done?
- Accessing farming inputs at government controlled prices using the e-wallet.
- Obtaining seeds. The how, where and when.
- How to start mechanizing the farming process. I seem to have noticed too much emphasis on use of farm workers, manual weeding, etc. Surely we should have moved on from these manual processes.
- Any other relevant information.

Hope this thread will go well. Please no quarreling here. Exchange of ideas are welcome, in a clean manner. We shall all succeed.

Thank you.

Buhari's wife is a business woman, a successful one at that. So there is no reason to think the money did not come from her own bank account.

This is 2015 and not 1905........women are making their own money and are not simply given "pocket money" from their husbands.
So a stout muslim woman will keep millions in her bank account while her stout muslim husband will go to a bank and collect N27million loan claiming to be a poor man because he has no money abi?

How does that sound? APC cannot deceive Nigerians o!

Hi Terry! The trademark is done in Abuja at Federal Ministry of trades and Investments! Its a simple procedures that requires you to register your custom marks/logo. This is necessary for Nafdac registration procedures. Go to the nearest Nafdac office in your state for detailed informations about your product registration requirements, floor plan schematics and food grade equipments requirements before proceeding further with the rented property. This will properly guide you as you begin the procedures!

Incase you don't have contacts in Abuja for trademarks, PM me and i can arrange for you. You need to start processing it now as it takes time to clear!

Cheers!
Let him go to the ministry himself and pay the fee. Trademarks take time to collect: may even reach 6 months before it is ready. Speakign from personal experience.
FamilyRe: Wife Opens Secret: What My Husband Did To Me In The Bedroom by stagger: 8:12pm On Feb 11, 2015
Madam OP you are too naive.

You are not supposed to swallow your man's cum. You do the sucking and when you feel he is about to explode, you switch to using your hands, or you break off, climb him and ride his brains out. Even mere using your tongue to do the job on the underside of his penis works a lot more wonders than a correct blow.j.

How can you suck him until he explodes in your mouth and you swallow the sour jam? What nonsense is that? Go talk to your mum or your aunties and let them teach you how to make love to your husband in a way that he will keep asking you for more.

This is why experienced girls end up keeping their husbands and naive ones lose them fast. Better learn fast and save your marriage.
