Surprisingly, Jesus never claimed to be a religious leader. He never got into religious politics or pushed an ambitious agenda, and he ministered almost entirely outside the established religious framework. When one compares Jesus with the other great religious leaders, a remarkable distinction emerges. Ravi Zacharias, who grew up in a Hindu culture, has studied world religions and observed a fundamental distinction between Jesus Christ and the founders of other major religions. “In all of these, there emerges an instruction, a way of living. It is not Zoroaster to whom you turn; it is Zoroaster to whom you listen. It is not Buddha who delivers you; it is his Noble Truths that instruct you. It is not Mohammad who transforms you; it is the beauty of the Koran that woos you. By contrast, Jesus did not only teach or expound His message. He was identical with His message.” The truth of Zacharias’ point is underscored by the number of times in the Gospels that Jesus’ teaching message was simply “Come to me” or “Follow me” or “Obey me.” Also, Jesus made it clear that his primary mission was to forgive sins, something only God could do. In The World’s Great Religions, Huston Smith observed, “Only two people ever astounded their contemporaries so much that the question they evoked was not ‘Who is he?’ but ‘What is he?’ They were Jesus and Buddha. The answers these two gave were exactly the opposite. Buddha said unequivocally that he was a mere man, not a god—almost as if he foresaw later attempts to worship him. Jesus, on the other hand, claimed … to be divine.[6] And that leads us to the question of what Jesus really did claim for himself; specifically, did Jesus claim to be divine? |
Even those from other religions acknowledge that Jesus was a great moral teacher. Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi, spoke highly of Jesus’ righteous life and profound words. Likewise, Jewish scholar Joseph Klausner wrote, “It is universally admitted … that Christ taught the purest and sublimest ethics … which throws the moral precepts and maxims of the wisest men of antiquity far into the shade.” Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount has been called the most superlative teaching of human ethics ever uttered by an individual. In fact, much of what we know today as “equal rights” actually is the result of Jesus’ teaching. Historian Will Durant, a non-Christian, said of Jesus that “he lived and struggled unremittingly for ‘equal rights’; in modern times he would have been sent to Siberia. ‘He that is greatest among you, let him be your servant’—this is the inversion of all political wisdom, of all sanity.” Many, like Gandhi, have tried to separate Jesus’ teaching on ethics from his claims about himself, believing that he was simply a great man who taught lofty moral principles. This was the approach of one of America’s Founding Fathers, President Thomas Jefferson, who cut and pasted a copy of the New Testament, removing sections he thought referred to Jesus’ deity, while leaving in other passages regarding Jesus’ ethical and moral teaching. Jefferson carried around his cut and pasted New Testament with him, revering Jesus as perhaps the greatest moral teacher of all time. In fact, Jefferson’s memorable words in the Declaration of Independence were rooted in Jesus’ teaching that each person is of immense and equal importance to God, regardless of sex, race, or social status. The famous document sets forth, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights …” But one thing Jefferson didn’t answer: If Jesus falsely claimed to be God he couldn’t have been a good moral teacher. But did Jesus really claim deity? Before we look at what Jesus claimed, we need to examine the possibility that he was simply a great religious leader? |
Have you ever met a man who is the center of attention wherever he goes? Some mysterious, indefinable characteristic sets him apart from all other men. And while most great people eventually fade into history books, Jesus is still the focus of thousands of books and unparalleled media controversy. And much of that controversy revolves around the radical claims Jesus made about himself—claims that astounded both his followers and his adversaries. It was primarily Jesus’ unique claims that caused him to be viewed as a threat by both the Roman authorities and the Jewish hierarchy. Although he was an outsider with no credentials or political powerbase, within three years, Jesus changed the world for the next 20 centuries. Other moral and religious leaders have left an impact—but nothing like that unknown carpenter’s son from Nazareth. What was it about Jesus Christ that made the difference? Was he merely a great man, or something more? These questions get to the heart of who Jesus really was. Some believe he was merely a great moral teacher; others believe he was simply the leader of the world’s greatest religion. But many believe something far more. Christians believe that God has actually visited us in human form. And they believe the evidence backs that up. After carefully examining Jesus’ life and words, former Cambridge professor and skeptic, C. S. Lewis, came to a startling conclusion about him that altered the course of his life. So who is the real Jesus? Many will answer that Jesus was a great moral teacher. As we take a deeper look at the world’s most controversial person, we begin by asking: could Jesus have been merely a great moral teacher? |
If you want to see God, you must begin by desiring to see Him. When you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. No one needs to teach you to know God. He is more willing to bring you into His fellowship and hence reveal Himself to you, than you're willing to see Him. |

Concerning death, most people would rather avoid speaking about it. It's not really a favorite topic. However I can say that I have had what many refer to a near death experience. I have come really close to death but the LORD has delivered me from it. It happened 9 years ago. I was traveling in a bus with other passengers. 14 passengers, a driver and a conductor meant we were 16 in the vehicle. There was a preacher in the bus, and he led everyone in prayer before he began preaching. About one hour into the journey, one of the rear tires exploded and the vehicle somersaulted several times, killing 12 passengers on the spot. Brain, blood, bones and body tissues were scattered everywhere. Two other survivors were seriously injured. Both had head injuries. One lost his right leg from the knee, the other had a big gash across his jaw. They were still alive and in need of emergency medical attention. The preacher was in shock, but without visible injuries. I was intact, unhurt. But how come? Was it luck or Divine protection? Here is what I experienced. When the tire exploded, the other passengers all screamed instantly. But only four words came from my mouth, "Save Me Oh GOD". It was all I could say. First there was a deep fear that came upon me as I thought I'd never see my family again. I thought it was all over, our bodies will be discovered by other travelers. Then suddenly as quickly as the fear had come, it was gone. I was no longer afraid. I suddenly felt peaceful. I decided I'd keep my eyes open and witness how my spirit will leave my body. Then everywhere became very dark. It was a thick darkness and I thought I was floating. The earth became visible below me. I could see the earth. I thought "oh how small the earth really is, and how easy we can be snatched away from it". Then I saw IT. Coming from the distance in the midst of the darkness around me was a very bright shining LIGHT. A type of Light I'd never seen before. It was coming straight at me. Strangely though, the Light didn't illuminate the surrounding darkness, it was only focused at me and coming closer. I suddenly felt I was seeing God. I felt okay, and immediately I began to feel my body rolling. I opened my eyes and I was rolling on the ground. I got up and checked myself. I was completely okay. I was outside the vehicle. I was initially seated in the middle of the bus, but now I was the first outside it. IT WAS A MIRACLE!!! God pulled me out. Before boarding another bus to continue my journey, I had to wait until other travelers stopped at the scene to help the two other survivors and began carrying away the dead. Everyone wanted to know who I was and what Church I belonged to. But like I always say, "It's not a Church thing, It's a JESUS thing". |

“We should do everything Jesus said,” is one of the most dangerous and thoughtless doctrines you’ll ever hear. And you’ll only hear it from hypocrites. I guarantee you that those who say we must do everything Jesus said aren’t doing everything He said themselves. Jesus said, “Be perfect” (Mt 5:48). If you are not perfect, then you have no business demanding perfection from others. Jesus preached words that the whole world needs to hear but you are not the whole world. Some of what He said was meant for other people: Jesus called the Pharisees sons of hell (Mt 23:15). You are not a son of hell! So why would you heed words meant for the sons of hell? Jesus also told the Pharisees they belonged to their father the devil (John 8:44). You belong to your Father in heaven (1 Jn 3:1). So why would you heed words intended for the devil’s children? Jesus even preached to the devil (Lk 4). Are you the devil? Then you should not assume that words directed to the devil were meant for you. Some of what Jesus said was meant for another time. For instance, Jesus preached the law to those born under the law. Since you are not under law, the law that Jesus preached to them is not for you. If you think you must keep the law to be righteous/blessed/holy/forgiven, then you have set aside grace and Christ died for nothing. Jesus was the greatest law preacher who ever lived. Yet He never preached the law to non-Jews and He didn’t preach it after the cross. Jesus’ law ministry reached its fulfillment on the cross. The law-keeping covenant has come and gone. The new covenant of grace, in contrast, is eternal. As we will see, Jesus’ revelation of grace is as important today as it ever was. |
All i would like to do today is ask you to open your eyes, ask you to reconsider what you may have been told. Ask you to run away from the status quo, what everyone has told you is true and for once find out the truth for yourself. Right now i ask you to open you eyes and even your ears and ultimately your heart as i share a few truths with you today. My greatest hope for you today is that the blindness would be removed, the lie would be broken and you would be equipped with the truth that will keep you from getting BLINDSIDED again. 1. You are worthy, and you do qualify (Colossians 1:12). The main reason being Jesus qualified you Romans 5:17-19, his death on the cross was more then enough to atone for Gods wrath against sin. You not only qualify but you are accepted and loved John 17:23 2. You are already free in Christ 2 Corinthians 5:17 Not only do you have the power to change Philippians 4:13, but you also have a real and powerful God living inside of you. Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:31 3. Believing no one in the world could lover you is the furthest thing from the Truth John 3:16 if you were the only one on the earth that had fallen in sin know that Jesus would have still died and been sent JUST FOR YOU Ephesians 2:10 you were hand crafted by the father, you are his creation, his work of art and he loves you 4. Not only does Jesus accept you but you are loved by him (Romans 8:38-39) and nothing can separate you from it. You are chosen and adopted as a son or a daughter into his family. Ephesians 1:1-14, 5. Not only are you clean but you are seen as holy and righteous in the eyes of the Father! 2 Corinthians 5:21, Colossians 1:20-21 6. Not only do you have power over sin it is no longer part of you. Ephesians 4:22-24, Romans 6:2-8 to top it all off God doesn’t even remember your sins Isaiah 43:25 7. And most importantly you do have power over the devil. Matthew 10:1, Luke 9:1, Mark 6:7-10,12-13 James 4:7 His power has been stripped and know you hold the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 16:19 and God has given you plenty of promises showing you how much you have. 1 Peter 1:3-4 Ephesians 1:3 Colossians 2:9-10 I hope this help shed some light on why you may be struggling we all believe lies and up to this point we all fall. But the real test comes when you find out that you have been believing a lie and then you are faced with a choice. Do you continue to believe in the lie because everyone else is still trusting it, and heaven forbid you will have to get out of you comfort zone. OR do you embrace truth even if no one else is doing it and start to live a victorious live where we are called to rule and reign. Remember We all have victory through Christ and With him and in Him so be blessed. 2 Corinthians 2:14 Stay victorious and conquer you fear because greater is he that is in you then he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, John 16:33, Luke 10:19 Be Blessed with love strength compassion and a willingness to learn and grow and a drive to conquer your fear, the devil, and a determination to live a life that shows the grace and mercy of a loving father and our lord Jesus Christ |
If you are healing the sick so you can see miracles it will be exciting for a while but when you start seeing consistent results if you are still healing the sick to fulfill your need for seeing the miracles happen you will wear out. You need to realize that healing the sick is “Not for you” but for “The person being ministered to”. Healing the sick is to show people the love, mercy, and goodness of God. it is completely about the other person and that is where compassion comes in. If you are healing the sick because you love them and want to set them free then your heart is right but if your doing it for you then you will grow tired and burn out. |
Love always trusts. At first when I started looking into what love always trust looks like. I started by trying to explore about how me trusting in others could help them grow or set them free but then I realized that this one is not about me. I flipped the coin so to speak and explored how I could make myself more trust worthy for others to come to me. Let’s face the facts, you wouldn’t walk up to a random stranger on the street and take them to a high cliff. Hand them the rope that is attached to your back and then jump off the cliff. You don’t know if their going to hold on Or not they could just let go cause they don’t Care or you may be just wasting their time. There Is a saying out there that says “trust is earned not given” and through my experience I would have to say this is true. Trust is built within the context of relationship, the more you know someone the more you are willing to trust them for example husbands and wives, best friends, brothers etc If you asked me to jump off a cliff and the only guarantee of me surviving would be on the condition that the person who held the rope did not let go. I could probably count on two hands and give you a list of people who I would trust when doing this. It just seems to be a fact of life. Trust has to be gained. However there is one anomaly that I have found one person who stands out from the rest. You may have heard of him before, or read about him. His name is Jesus. I can just picture it now. A young women who has been tortured by the demons of her past, who has built wall after wall to protect her heart after having it hurt many times. This desperate women has sold herself to many different men hoping to fill the void Hoping to feel some sense of peace after being told she is loved even if she knows he doesn’t really mean it and that she is getting used just for the sexual pleasure of other men. Yet a few words from one man changed her life. “Woman where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” As she looked up in to the eyes of Jesus I’m sure every wall she had ever put up instantly crumbled into ash. The kindness and compassion in his eyes brought tears to hers. She managed to speak a few words. “no one my lord” He reached out and brought his hand to her cheek and as he spoke again her heart leaped. “neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more” I can just picture Mary slowly standing to her feet wiping the dust from her dress, I can see her looking slightly confused and puzzled. I wonder how long she gazed into the face of Jesus before falling into his open arms. I wonder how long she cried in the courtyard, I wonder how many tears fell down her cheek as Jesus whispered words of life into her ear and spoke of long lost dreams she had had as a child. I can picture Jesus brushing the tears from her eyes and taking her hand not caring what people thought. I can picture Mary smiling and putting her hand on her chest as a warm burning feeling fills her heart as a flame of joy and peace is rekindled inside of her. It was this kind of man that was trusted by so many people. The homeless, the broken, the slaves the free they flocked to hear him speak. I can only imagine the people he set free. And it makes me wonder. Is the day drawing near where I will walk into a room and someone will comes to me and begins to pour out Their life story to me? Will there be a time where I will look into the eyes of a young women who feels unloved and tell her she is beautiful and she will believe it? What about the young man who feels betrayed by the world and is ready to quit the note is on his bed and the gun is loaded and sitting in the car. Will he believe me when I tell him there he is destined for greatness and that he is going to accomplish amazing and wonderful things. What is it that will make the difference? The answer… do they trust you? All someone Had to do was look into the eyes of Jesus and instantly they would trust him with Their life. What was it about him that let people trust him so easily. In the dictionary one of the definitions of trust is the firm reliance on ones character/ability. Another word that was used a Lot was confidence in someone or to rely on them. I have discovered it’s not about me going into the streets and finding someone to hold the rope as I jump off the cliff but its about me positioning myself and holding myself in such a way that when people need someone to hold the rope as they jump off the cliff they would trust me to do it What could you do to become More trust worthy, do people see you as a person of integrity, can people rely on and place confidence in you? The more time that we spend getting to know Jesus the more we are going to look like him. The more we look like him the more people will come to you with their problems because you know the solution and his name is Jesus. People will come to you because they have heard you have wisdom far beyond your years. People will come to you because they have heard that when they look in your eyes they feel loved and worthy. They know you as a person with a compassionate and caring heart, they know you will not Judge them and that you are quick to forgive. That’s who Jesus was and thats what you can be too because with Jesus you look like love and love always trust so people will find you trustworthy. |
How it works: Imagine that you’ve lived at your house for 20 years of your life. You’ve memorized the fastest ways to drive back from your work, from church, from your friend’s place, from school, and from the gym. You’ve developed a route that you take every time. You don’t think about it, that’s just the way you go home because you’ve done that for 20 years. You know the correct turns to make. You know the best time to take which route based on how bad traffic is. You know which roads have the most cops. And you know all the ins and outs of getting yourself home. Then imagine if you move 10 minutes away. The next day, you’re about to head back home from work. You get in your car as usual, and you start driving. Out of sheer habit and muscle memory, you take the same old highway, the same old exit, and the same traffic all the way until you get home, only to realize that you no longer live at your old house. You slap yourself on the forehead thinking, “How could I forget?! I moved! Gotta make sure I don’t do this again…what a waste of time!” The next day is similar, you get into your car and you begin to take the same route you’ve taken for the last 20 years. It isn’t until about halfway home you realize again, “Shoot! I moved!” You pull a U-turn and head towards the new home you recently moved into. So by this point, you’re consciously making an effort to make sure it doesn’t happen again. You create a reminder in your head, “Alright, when I reach this street, I have to make a left where I used to make a right.” You know it will take a conscious effort to forge a new pattern because the old pattern was so familiar, natural, and comfortable. But you know you have to do it because you no longer live at the old house – none of your belongings are there. Plus, the new house is much bigger, with a lot more freedom to move around. The next day, as you leave your house for work, you make another mental note to remind yourself that you’ve moved so that you won’t forget at the end of the day. The time arrives, and you get into your car. Confident, reminding yourself that you have a new home, you get all the way home without taking a wrong turn. When you arrive, you breathe a sigh of satisfaction, knowing that you took the right route and you’re confident it’ll be easier next time. Over a period of a few weeks, what started with lots of errors and mistakes starts to become second-nature and natural. The muscle memory and old pattern of thinking was undone and now it’s hard to imagine ever taking that old route again. In addition to that, you’ve done the same exercise with your church, school, friend’s place, and the gym. All the old routes were reprogrammed and redesigned to fit the location of your new home. Months down the road, it’s nowhere near a struggle. You’ve forged a new routine — a new habit. You arrive at your new home every time. And every once in a while, you’ll be at an intersection you used to use when you were at your old house, and you’ll get a familiar feeling of when you used to slam the pedal to try to make the light…you reminisce on the memories. But then you’d snap back into reality remembering, “Well…I don’t live there anymore.” This is the life of the believer. This is the call of Romans 12:2, to “renew your mind.” As a believer you have a responsibility to renew your thinking, to rewire your brain as a result of understanding the fact that you have become a son of God, an heir of God, an ambassador of a King. As a result of understanding that you have been bought at a price (denoting worth) and that you have been given a new nature (new tendencies), it should cause you to make different choices. It is a different path — a different life than you once walked. The old house had its own set of ways and its own set of patterns. If we find ourselves veering off into the old paths, it’s only because we’ve forgotten that we’ve moved to a new house that’s more glorious. How to use it intentionally: “Renewing your mind” is definitely not just about reciting a list of facts. Nor is it about confessing a phrase in an effort to try to persuade yourself to believe it. When you renew your mind, it should renew the way you do things. A new perspective should result in a new set of actions, just like moving to a new house will cause you to take new directions. Taking new directions aren’t a requirement, but it’s a natural byproduct of understanding that you have a new house. Say for example I’ve dealt with jealously for many years of my life, and if I hear that a friend has achieved something that I’ve been trying to achieve, I get jealous and I have a hard time celebrating with them. And then let’s say that I hear a teaching and I realize that I’m just like the disciples arguing and competing to be the greatest. I’m jealous because I’m actually performing for the approval/praise of man instead of understanding I already have approval from God. I realize the simple truth that my worth comes from what my Father has already said about me, not what other people say. When that new revelation is received, that’s when I get a new house. Immediately, I am “free” from my old house, and I am free to not “drive back” to the old house of jealousy. I am free to celebrate with my friend instead of getting envious. I am free, but the rubber will have to hit the road. So the next time a friend has achieved something I’ve been wanting to achieve, I have a choice to drive to the old house that I’ve been used to (jealousy), or I remember that I’ve moved on to a new house (celebrating my friend). The problem is that it will still feel natural and I will be tempted to take the old route toward the old house if I believe I still live there. I will allow the habit and the muscle memory to dictate my direction if I never realize the fact that I have a new house. But if I’m truly convinced that I have moved, I will make every conscious effort to take the new route every time. Why? Because I’ve moved. The new house is better than the old house, and all my belongings are in the new one. So, suppose that I failed to make it to the new house. The muscle memory and habit got the best of me the first time. Do I deem myself a failure, feel condemned and think, “You’re so horrible for driving back to your old house, what a failure“? No, I just write it off and think, “Wow, how did that slip my mind?” Do I think, “Man…I guess I’ll never remember to make it to my new house, it’s just so hard to remember“? No, I just make a few more conscious reminders to make sure that I make it the next time. I’ll think, “Alright, when I’m at this intersection, I no longer take a left…I make a right. Left is the old house. Right is the new house.” Do I think, “I just feel so stuck. I just somehow can’t get to my new house…I feel bound to drive back to my old house…every time. I’ll never make it to my new one, this is hopeless“? Ridiculous. I will only feel bound to my old house if I still believe I live there. I will only be bound to the same old habits and same old routes if I believe I still have the same old “home base.” When I’ve renewed my mind to the fact that I have a new “default,” a new “home,” a new “building”, I will make the effort to get there every time, because it’s a better house! So to answer the question: “How do I intentionally renew my mind?” It’s a moot point. The same way you change the routes you take when you move to a new house is the same way to renew your mind (re-read the parable if it hasn’t clicked yet). Using it effectively: Naturally, when you move to a new house, it’s not just one route that has to change. All the routes change. You have to ask yourself, how do I get home from the store now? From the bank? From my friend’s house? From the restaurant? All the “courses” of action change as a result of your new “‘home.” Every one of your old behaviors will change based on the revelation of your new house, but they will all take a conscious effort. Only you can do that for you. Whether it’s about your poor temperament, a struggle to be patient, a habit of gossiping, getting free from addiction, thinking poorly of yourself, worth issues, dealing with fear of man, struggling with jealously, or struggling with pride… it doesn’t matter. It’s the same process. You need to understand that you have a new house, and you need to figure out what the path to that new house looks like. What does it look like to no longer gossip, but speak life and encouragement? What mindsets need to change so that you don’t get angry so easily? What lie are you believing about yourself that you need to diffuse in order to stop the self-loathing and sense of unworthiness? If you keep digressing to your old paths, it’s because you haven’t forged a new path. If you feel like you’ll never escape your old habits, it’s because you believe that you still live in your old house and haven’t moved yet. The Process of Growth: You’re probably realizing now that this is everything in your Christian life. This is how you walk out the fruit of the Spirit (even fruit takes time to mature). This is how you walk as Jesus walked (babies have to learn how to walk, and then run). It’s all a result of understanding that you’ve become a new creation. You’ve been cut off from the old. The old has gone. The old has died. It has been put off. Get it? Here’s the beautiful thing… It gets easier. The more you take the new route, the less you’ll feel prone to take the old. The more you take the new, the less of an effort you’ll need the next time. Soon, after a few months, it’ll hardly cross your mind. You won’t even be tempted to take the old route. It might cross your mind and you might reminisce, but by then, you’ll have forged a new habit and living reality. You’ll have a new walk, a new path, a new way, and by then, it’ll be an effort to go back to the old. (1 Peter 1:13-14, 4:1-3, Col 3:5-10, Eph 4:17-23, 5:8-10, Gal 5:24, Gal 5:13) |
Growing up in church, I always found myself having more questions than those around me. I had no idea why we did the things we were told to do, and because I’ve always been naturally inquisitive, I just started asking why. Mind you, asking why was never something that anyone inherently told me was a dangerous thing. I did not understand at the time that my asking ‘why’ was actually something incredulously taboo and that I would end up being shunned by a large majority of people throughout my life for doing so. I certainly didn’t know that asking ‘why’ is one of the most divisive and simultaneously liberating things that you can do. Asking ‘why’ affords those whom you are questioning no options to retreat or deny the existence of a problem. Asking ‘why’ exposes faults in programming, wiring, and general design. Asking ‘why’ makes you a threat to the status quo. But again, I never looked at asking questions as something to be viewed at in a negative fashion — my intention for asking questions has always and will always be to improve the state of something that is already existing. In some cases, the only way to improve something that isn’t working is to scrap it entirely and start over. In others, all that is required are a few minor tweaks and changes to achieve optimal performance. At any rate, I always grew up with a drive for improving upon that which I saw in front of me. If I had a toy that didn’t do the types of things that I thought it should do, I would usually find a way to either break that toy and reassemble in (often in a bit of a disfigured fashion) just so that it would work the way that I thought it should. If I was working a job that had systems in place that were not efficient or effective, I would devise ways to change the system itself and implement one of my own that brought about more productivity and more of the desired results. If I was in a church that was not preaching the Gospel the way I read it in the Scriptures, or if we were not seeing the kind of promised results from all of the fasting, prayer, and various other intensely exhausting activities that I used to involve myself in quite extensively, I would always ask why and go back to the Scriptures to find out if we were missing something. Especially in the case of all the ‘crying out, praying and fasting for revival’ that I was doing, I found that the equivalent of what I was missing was kind of like figuring out that I’d been told my whole life that the world was flat only to find out it was in fact round. It’s not an easy pill to swallow to admit that everything you thought you knew to be true was in fact a cleverly packaged and deceptively persuasive lie. I have always been very results-driven. I believe that I was just simply created that way—and have found that when I embrace that reality instead of trying to ‘fix’ it (as many throughout my life have tried to change this aspect of my thought processing), I see a lot of things get done and generally I am more happy. If William Wilberforce had not so aggressively asked “why” regarding the horrors of the slave trade, where would we be today? If Martin Luther King, Jr. had not asked “why” in relation to the lack of respect given to African-Americans in our country several decades ago, what would this country look like? If George Washington had not asked “why” regarding the oppression of the ruling government of his day and stood up to their tyranny, how would history have played out? If Jesus had not asked “why” when so directly challenging the religious leaders of His day, what would have come of our faith? The willingness to question that which is commonly accepted as ‘normal’ has always been something that has burned within me. I’m not talking about questioning for the sake of questioning and causing problems. I’m talking about questioning for the sake of improving the state of what already exists. I’m talking about questioning for the sake of increasing effectiveness, longevity, impact, and influence. I’m talking about questioning for the sake of sparking a revolution when that remains to be the only option. One of the most frustrating aspects of asking “why” is the inevitable “dishonor” card that is thrown at you. When someone knows that they have nothing to stand on and no authentic ability to ‘give an answer for the hope that they have’ (1 Peter 3:15), quite often they will rail at you with baseless accusations that you are ‘dishonoring’ or divisive. This is actually a typical debate & distraction tactic that lawyers learn in law school about how to derail their opponent when they have backed them into a corner. When one side of a discussion knows they have nothing to back up their points, they often will resort to mud-slinging and character assassination to try and discredit the one who has proved them to be in the wrong. It is the only way that they are able to save face…by trying to make you look bad since you have proved them to be incorrect. I have seen this happen far more times than I wish to recall. Much of what we so publicly and openly question is undeniable if you actually look at what we bring to light…but the number of people who have been willing to lay aside their dearly held traditions and religious myths versus those who have called us every name under the sun to try and discredit our message is miniscule. On the bright side, I’ve got many stories of people from around the world who have been initially very angry with us for being so forthright about the things that we have said and the directness with which we have challenged many popular mindsets. But their stories don’t end there. Those stories usually end up with them looking into it for themselves (many with the intention of trying to prove us to be in the wrong) and they find out that what we have presented is actually true. Many of those people are very good friends of ours now. At some levels, I am very grateful for the scrutiny that much of what we have done has generated because it forces me to stay sharp and make sure that what I am saying can be proven through Scripture in its context and in light of what Christ has done. At other levels, however, the amount of frustration that can come with what we do is unlike anything I ever was prepared for growing up. It can really get under your skin when you have people from all over coming after you and saying all kinds of awful things about you and your friends — and honestly, it wouldn’t be so bad if those folks actually addressed the points that we have made time and time again. So many think that the reason that we challenge the things that we do is because we have some kind of vendetta against a certain person or ministry. It has absolutely nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with the fact that there are lies that are being perpetuated on a scandalously large international scale, and there is little to no responsibility taken for all of the lives and families who have been destroyed by those lies. I seek to change that. I seek to see tyranny brought to light and exposed for what it is, and in the process, to see captives set free and learn how to walk in that freedom that Christ has purchased for them. I know that at times I can get quite aggressive and have said things that have been out of line. I’ve been quite public about that and honestly, have seen very, very few people in ‘ministry’ be willing to admit their failures as fast as I have. Usually I’ve seen quite the opposite — if not a blatant denial of failure, I’ve seen more often than that a direct disregard that anything could have even happened in which someone else may have been wrong. It takes great humility to admit error — especially when every word you speak and every action you take is scrutinized by thousands of people. At any rate, let it be known that I have tried (and continue to try) time and again to reach out to the leaders of the ‘movements’ that perpetuate mindsets that I so publicly question and challenge. Let it be known to all that some of these well-respected leaders have point blank threatened me, others have told me God is going to judge me for “touching the Lord’s anointed”, and still other leaders have contacted friends of ours and told them to get us to take certain videos down (“Jesus Stands in the Gap” & our “Life Tape” video, especially…both shown below) like some kind of religious mafia. Let it be known that we are time and again ignored and the Scriptures that we present shoved aside and denied. Let it be known that our questions on many of the issues (read: almost all) that we have raised have NEVER been answered by anyone who perpetuates those mindsets. Let it be known that there have been multiple times that several leaders from the “prophetic” movement have been quite nice to my face and told me that they would be happy to dialogue with me about the concerns that I have, yet not a single, solitary one of them has ever followed through…and in many cases, I was privately told that I don’t have Scriptural backing for what we’re preaching (despite the fact that we back everything up with Scripture in its actual context) and that I need to “be careful” or else. Most of them just stop answering their phones or e-mails I have sent. I believe very strongly in the principle of always being able to answer those who oppose what it is that I have to say by backing it up with Scripture. If I can’t back something up, I don’t say it — really, it’s quite simple. Especially if I am questioning some dearly held traditions and mindsets that make a select few people at the top of a handful of ministry pyramids a lot of money. So many tell me that I must ‘honor’ these people whose mindsets I challenge and question. I agree with that. But let me ask this — does ‘honor’ not flow both ways? From what we have seen, the ‘honor’ that so many are talking about is not honoring at all. It is a top-down kind of ‘honor’ where only the guy at the top of the food chain gets ‘honored’ and everyone else has to bow down or get kicked out and have their reputation trashed as being ‘divisive and unloving’ just because they disagreed with what the “man of God” said and wrote some books about. I do what I do because I love. I assure you all that I don’t do what I do because I like having so many people think I’m a hateful, critical jerk who challenges everyone and everything he sees. I do what I do and I ask the questions I ask because they are the questions that are on the heart of every person who has honestly been in the situations that I speak out against. Most people are just too afraid to admit it. I question everything because that is what I see Jesus doing. I question everything because that is what Paul did when he realized the system he had built his entire life on was a man-made structure of religious rules and regulations that lead only to bondage and not to life. I ask questions about the status quo of Christianity because the status quo isn’t working. I ask questions about the status quo because in many cases, the status quo is perpetuating the problems on our planet instead of fixing them like Jesus sent us to. I ask questions because if we are not free to think for ourselves, we will all end up exactly the same and wanting to silence anyone and anything that doesn’t look exactly like us out of fear of losing control. Many mistakenly think that I want everyone to agree with me. I don’t care if you agree with me or not — what I care about is if you agree with what the Scriptures say on certain issues and what Jesus did regarding those issues. Because at the end of the day, His opinion is the only one that really matters. I sleep well at night. I don’t struggle anymore wondering if what we are preaching is true because I know it is — I have seen the fruit of it time and time and time again, and I can prove it time, and time, and time again. Gone are the days of waiting for some arbitrary dream to come floating into my subconscious in order for me to feel like I have heard from God. Nonexistent is the lie that I need to keep ‘pleading the blood of Jesus’ over my city, my bedroom, and everywhere I walk. I have no more fear of the enemy because I have been given authority over all of his power (Luke 10:19). No more do I waste hours of this gift of life moaning and groaning on the floor of a prayer room somewhere begging for God to visit my city and “send revival”, because I live revived and He has already sent me. I am His habitation. I stopped crying out for a visitation the moment I truly grasped that He dwells in me. Forever absent from my life is the terrifying uncertainty of my salvation and the pressure to pray Jesus back to the earth. He lives in me. I am much less concerned about trying to get Jesus to ‘come back’ than I am concerned about seeing the church realize that He’s already in them so they can start acting like it. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me (Gal. 2:20). The life I live on this earth and in this body I live by the faith of the Son of God…because I am one. I am not a slave crying out for mercy from an angry, judgmental father. I am a son who demonstrates and models the King and the power of His Kingdom because He is love and that is what Love does. Question everything that can not be proved. Challenge everyone, ESPECIALLY leaders, with questions that you know the answers to because they are rooted in the love and grace of Christ. And if they can’t answer those questions…just be prepared to not flinch and stand your ground. Because heat is coming your way. I believe in you. Rise up. Stand strong. Set captives free. God wants Rambo’s who will aggressively destroy the works of the devil, motivated by love and in the power of His Spirit…and unfortunately most of the folks who proclaim the name of Christ look a lot more like Barney Fife to the powers of hell. authoritySure, they’ve got their weapon…the authority and covering of Christ…the trouble is, most have no idea how to use it. The next several articles will be on the topic of the authority of the follower and believer in Jesus Christ. The word most frequently for ‘authority’ is the word ‘exousia’. Check out all of the implications of this word: exousia – (pronounced ex-oo-see’-ah): G1849- - ἐξουσία: - From G1832 (in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence: – authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength. In most of the situations and verses where Jesus gives His disciples the ability to overcome the works of the enemy, He is telling them that they have the ability, the privilege, the capacity, the competency, and the superhuman power to exercise dominion and control over the works of darkness and to enforce the victory of their freedom in Christ. That. Is. Amazing. Take a look for yourself: Matthew 10:1 Matthew 28:18 Mark 1:27 Luke 4:32, 36 Luke 9:1 Luke 10:19 Even back in the Old Testament when Moses and the Israelites were between a rock and a hard place, having an understanding of their authority would have probably resulted in a much different story than is in the book of Exodus. With the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh charging quickly behind, take a look at the exchange that happened between the people, Moses, and God: “As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” -Exodus 14:10-14 Please take notice what happened when the circumstances of the people seemed to turn bleak. They did what so many others do…they did what Moses and the other Jews probably taught them to do in crisis. They got fearful, then they “cried out to the Lord”. And then they complained. But wait! God is good, right? God is gonna take care of everything for the scared little Israelites who have found themselves in a huge mess! Moses stands up just like many of the pastors and evangelists of our day and says, “Don’t worry everybody! Just stand! When you have done everything you can do, STAND! The LORD will fight for us! God is in control! God knows what He is doing, brothers and sisters! Just wait on the Lord! Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength!” If one was into labels and titles and fun charismatic lingo, one might say that Moses had the “pastoral anointing”. I’ll do a series on “the anointing” some other time. But wait! Look at how God responds! “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.” -Exodus 14:15-16 Whoa. Sounds like God is a little bit annoyed here, doesn’t it? Notice that He questions why they are “crying out to” Him. It is almost as if the statement to have the Israelites move forward is said like, “Uh, hey Mo’? Isn’t this common sense to you by now? Haven’t you seen what I’ve done through you already? Did you so quickly forget the authority that I gave you through your faith in me and with your staff that demonstrated My Power and Supremacy over the magicians in Pharaoh’s courts?” God tells Moses to raise HIS staff and stretch out HIS hand so that the water divides. God does NOT say “Raise your staff and I will stretch out MY Hand and divide the waters”. God had given Moses command even over the elements and the impossible situations they faced. He actually seemed frustrated that the people and Moses continued to keep going back to God to fix their problems. The issue was that they didn’t recognize the authority that they already had; hence they believed the lie that they were powerless and that they needed to run whining to God and their leaders to bail them out of their problems. The reality was that because their leadership didn’t realize the authority that God had already given him, the people were relying solely on Moses, who was just as clueless. God wanted Moses to exercise his authority and make the miracle happen. It had absolutely nothing to do with asking God. There is obviously no shortage of debates and arguments in the religious section. This is the very place where people should learn to become like Christ in all things. But the focus seems to have shifted into arguments about the law, money, and other unnecessary things. These things have their place and time, but to become obsessed with such vain philosophies and traditional things which if observed or not, do not make us more like our Master, is obviously a great distraction. We ought to be teaching others how to become like Lord Jesus, not like us nor our pastors. Here are some things that we’ve seen in the Word that have been effective in our life when dealing with persecution from those held captive by religion or feel threatened by the truth when they’ve heard it for the first time. It’s probably more information than you wanted to know (and you probably already know it anyways), but at any rate, here ya go. Ephesians 4:15, "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ" As frustrating as it may be, we don’t take it personally. We keep moving forward in an attitude fulfilling the ministry of reconciliation with the focus on the Gospel…who we are because of what He did…and why He did it. It’s hard to run, much less win a race when one is distracted by or arguing with the other racers (or those in the stands). Likewise, we don’t have to point out the inferiority of their ADIDAS as opposed to our Saucony or Salomon shoes. Just run. Most often, we don't have time for debating or bantering. (Nehemiah 6:3, "And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" However, we do want to respond to those who ask questions really wanting to know the answer.Rather than arguing, proving a point, or debating, preach and demonstrate the Gospel. Give them the real Jesus rather than focusing on motes and beams. We don’t focus on why “they’re” wrong. We focus on and proclaim why JESUS IS RIGHT. And, also very important is to PRAY FOR THE PERSECUTORS. Jesus died for them the same as He did for us. I am not excusing any error they embrace, but no one is deliberately deceived (hence the term “deceived”). Ephesians 1:17-18 is quite powerful when prayed earnestly in love toward those for whom it is prayed. When Paul was bitten by the viper the people on that island thought he had it coming…that he was a murderer. When he just shook it off and didn’t die or even swell up, they thought he was a god. The evidence of the operation of God in our life will cause people to take notice more than our much speaking. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” There can even be a temptation to be proud of the fact that “religious folks” are coming against us. John 15:20 says, "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." However, the Word also says in Proverbs 16:6 “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. 7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.” And the bottom line is that we will not be accountable for their behavior, but we are accountable for ours…including our behavior toward them. Some of our staunchest opposition has softened and are turning toward the truth because rather than engaging in a battle with them, we press on with the truth…with demonstration. Some of them are watching and shaking their heads saying, "Can this really be true?" and they are seriously checking it out for themselves. Some former nay-sayers are eating it up now. Matthew 5:44-48, 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Luke 6:27-36 27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. 29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. 30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. 31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. 34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. 35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. So in a nutshell: 1 NUMBER 1 FOCUS IS THE GOSPEL--JESUS 2 Don’t take it personally 3 Don’t get distracted with debates and arguments 4 Preach/proclaim the Gospel with demonstration – GIVE THEM JESUS 5 Keep our own nose clean before God 6 Forgive, pray for and bless the people 7 Refer back to Number 1 |
Heavenly Father, I just wanna thank you for these guys on this forum who commit themselves to your works. Without these people, who would do it? Bless them and favour them. Increase their faith, wisdom, and boldness. Let the line between heaven and earth be thinner. Let them know how real you are. Let them be a blessing to others. Let others accept your love through them. Protect them from all evil at all times. And let no harm come to them. Heal them and keep them on their feet. Let them not doubt or waiver for even a moment. Let them be deaf to the devil. Let them have hearts to love, minds to discern, eyes and ears to sense your will. For the Administrators of this forum, let them be encouraged in what they do. Provide for their needs in running this forum. Give them wisdom. Give them the peace that surpasses understanding. And bless their everyday lives. Finally I pray for a peace about this forum. The devil has been a liar from the beginning. He'll always suggest lies to make the Saints doubt their authority in God, just like he did to our Lord when he tempted him. Resist every lie of the devil and proclaim the Truth that we've been set free, redeemed and sanctified. Lay hands on the sick in the Name of the Lord and they will recover. Speak with knowledge of your dominion in Christ and all thing around you will conform and be aligned to the Word of God which dwells in you. Go and set the captives free in the name of the LORD. Open blind eyes, deaf ears, dumb mouths etc. Provide shelter for the homeless and set men free from the chains of poverty. GO, and the LORD is always with you |
In the Name of our Lord and King (the beginning and end of material and immaterial worlds), greetings be unto you all. Few points to note: When the Gospel was to be brought to the gentiles (of whom you once belonged in the flesh by birth), so they may be en grafted into the Lord (by new birth through believing the Gospel), the apostles met to discuss and come to a conclusion on what was the Lord's will for them. Obviously there were some who believed the gentiles ought also to keep the laws of Moses (which included tithes, first fruits, circumcision, burnt offerings etc). Acts 15:7-11 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: "Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? 11 No!
