Politics › Re: Buhari Has So Far Borrowed $3b without doing anything at all by Standing5(m): 5:42am On Nov 22, 2015
PassingShot:
Your opening statements alone gave you away as a very poor student of logic.

If GEJ's govt $18bn loan in only five years could be justified despite earning unprecedented billion of dollars in crude sale in those five years, common sense should tell you that a regime earning just a third of what Jona earned through crude sale will need more than double of what he borrowed.

Besides, a very large chunk of the $3bn you're talking is for settling some of the debt Jona left behind. E.g, the oil subsidy debt, workers' salary backlog, presidential fleet maintenance debt, etc.

So, next time, think deeply before you come here to spew rubbish.
let's pretend the guy,OP, is daft and be soft on him.
Last admin ran through a whole yr's budget some 80% in less than 45% of its financial period.

Nice article. What i expect from this trial is the nailing of the really big fishes in the corruption pond of Nigeria because by now 65% the monies have been spent on failed re-election bid. Where do you guys think those bundle of $250,000 (N50M) given to the Obas and Emirs came from? The money is far gone but its main spenders are still sponsoring hate campaign amongst us.

Politics › Re: Economic Woes Loom As Crude Price Fell Below $40 by Standing5(m): 6:55pm On Nov 19, 2015
To think some persons are still comparing the Buhari govt to a govt that ran on average oil income of $108/barrel alongside a average borrowing of N1Trillion/yr is disheartening. We should be glad we have someone who will take corruption head on and not one who would attempt to tax people more, remove subsidy, privatise NNPC, and borrow more money.
APC victory with Buhari as leader is a timely intervention indeed.

Politics › Re: How Nigeria Can Become Solar Super Power. by Standing5(m): 7:46am On Nov 19, 2015
In adding my 2 cents let me point out that quality solar panel and equipment manufacture is not so profitable for investors, this infact led to the closure of major solar equipment makers and manufacturing units of large org in europe in the last 3 years. What we need is likely a government sponsored company that will run as a low or zero profit unit. It could one of those closed business in europe that will be re-established here.
Business › Re: Small Generator Ban: Does Buhari Hate Small Businesses? by Standing5(m): 9:36pm On Nov 18, 2015
I can't see the connection between this ban and a failing power sector. Buhari should avoid falling a victim of bad advises like Jonathan. Corruption is obvious and i doubt ban of alternatives can spur on the power sector back into life. OBJ did and fail in the early part of his second coming when he banned foreign goods, we still import toothpick, cotton buds, and rubber bands till this day.
Politics › Re: President Goodluck Jonathan Regime Signed TSA Agreement With 1% Fee - Minister by Standing5(m): 12:23pm On Nov 18, 2015
Gbawe:
Good question one would have to put to the GEJ government that signed the original deal with SystemSpecs. The TSA itself is a good idea and this is why the Buhari government decided to resurrect and use it.

Now it is clear, according to official statement of the FG through its minister of information, it is members of the GEJ government that negotiated the 1% fee. This clears up the controversy because it shows there is no wrongdoing on the path of the Buhari government who can only continue with the scheme, if it wants to derive the obvious benefit Remita provides, until it can review the terms of the contract or possibly cancel without heavy financial penalty.

It is important to note that Remita is a collection system and those usually attract a transaction fee based on the amount involved. The idea of royalty or maintenance fee would therefore not appeal to SystemSpecs (the owner of Remita) since the amount collected on behalf of clients may vary considerably.
i have problem with the logic of the bold part. The money being transfer is electronic and therefore shouldn't attract any special cost based on the amount being transferred. It is suppose to be a fee and not a commission-styled reward. If it was physical money then it can, attract a commission because of extra cost involve in moving more money accross.

Politics › Re: Nigerian Economy Grew By 2.84 Percent In Q3 by Standing5(m): 3:59am On Nov 18, 2015
It could av been a negative value. Imagine the value if by now Nigeria had taken more loans, increased taxes, removed subsidy and privatized NNPC as proposed by PDP govt of GEJ. It would av taken more money out of the masses put it in the hands of a few crooked ones who will send it abroad and thus shrink our economy. Buhari has clearly reversed all that. Imagine how the Jonathan Admin would have fared if it didn't run on average of 108 usd /barrel of oil sales as against ~ 50usd/barrel under APC & Buhari.

That's why I don't celebrate these U-17, U-20 and Olympic triumphs. They don't translate into the World Cup.
Just remember, we once thought Obi Mikel and Messi would be the next stars. Mikel is a bench star today at Chelsea. We need to stop deceiving ourselves man.
while I agree with the writer, your example of Mikel/Messi is inappropriate. Mikel and iheanacho of Man city are actually among the few honest ones, we saw a skinny Mikel and Kelechi grow from the 14/15/16 yr old stature into what the are unlike the other guys who already attained full maturity by age 11 and below.
Until we tackle age cheats in age group competitions we will continue to unknowingly assemble a super eagles that averages 30-something and that's 'un-improvable'.
