Statsocial:
Aspiring for top 10 for any state is in fact mediocre. If Osun can tap into its full potential thereby raising IGR and block wasteful spending with effective leadership it can compete with any state in the top 5. Effective leadership is all that matters. Hopefully, after Aregbesola's exit Osun would tk centre stage again.
If . . . . tap into full potential . . .
Abeg who doesn't have a full potential? Stop wishful thinking dude.
Politics › Re: Tinubu - FG Practising Voodoo Economic Policy by Standing5(op): 11:32pm On Jan 03, 2017
realborn:
Mr Omonnakoda indeed spoke well.

However, in concurrence with Mr Tinubu which Mr Onmakoda identified too, growing the reserves without stimulating manufacturing and production, and not providing same for necessities/goods consumed but not manufactured locally will lead to higher prices and perhaps staglaftion.

We urgently need to identify these pertinent goods, re-stimulate the manufacturing sector to produce most of these goods within a specific duration otherwise, with scarcity of forex, all sectors will suffer, demand will exceed supply, and the Naira will comtinue on a free fall.

For example, the allowance of forex for supply of petroleum products daily put a strain on our reserves. Why can't we have more investors like Dangote building refineries of similar capacity concurrently to ensure that in 4 years we will have no need to import, export to neighboring countires and save a huge chunk of our mandatory forex flight?

Another example is the commendable rice revolution. Why can't the FG consolidate on the learnings and ensure within a year we have rice reserves adequate to feed the nation and also export? Other key agricultural products alike.

In the short run, the FG needs to adequately manage the militating Niger Delta factor to sustain crude oil production (our present key forex commodity) to ensure production is at optimal level and thereafter supply corresponding forex for requisite commodities until we are duly sustainable to locally churn out these products. If this is not done, the Naira will keep sinking low.

Lastly, the FG needs to study how we survived before the advent of crude oil. We may reinvigorate the cash crops and minerals of yesteryears with minimal financial inputs with huge stimulating impact on employment and the economy thereby reducing the over-dependence on crude oil.

The micro and macro economics factors need to be reevaluated.

My 2 cents (not an expert)!
God bless you.
What we need is to stimulate local production. With local production there will be no need for huge forex with which to buy foreign goods. Imagine if 10 states replicate the Lake rice initiative or 10 states go into cotton production?
Thank You! You explained it so beautifully. I honestly never knew much about this foreign reserve. You should be working in d CBN or NASS. Nice one
I don't totally agree with him. Foreign Reserve is total forex available to satisfy forex needs. Low foreign reserve, will send a message of forex scarcity to private individuals who have forex for sale and vice versa. It can be manipulated to settle debt but not advisable. T

I don't know where that emoji with glasses beside Kaduna came from o. Am a proud westerner and reps all S/Western state. Precious Osun state would enter the list of top 10 soon. I dunno why Ondo is wasting time but am sure we would come up with something nice also. IrepS/W plus Kwara
How will Osun achieve this feat? Through IGR or Allocation or further borrowing? Please explain, I like to know.

Gladly your words mr.tinubu are extremely inconsequential because this voodoo economics you speak of has made nigeria the second largest economy in africa and projected to be first by 2020. You're entitled to your own opinion but not to your own facts, these are the facts and your opinion is just plain nonesense!

What caused the recession of 1984, too many universities abi?
Read the topic again, understand it, and stop the silly questions. Did OBJ rule in 1984?
My point of higher recurrent expenditure remains valid.

The Amusan made a valid but exergerated point. OBJ recession was not as pronounced as Buhari's.
Take education for example, 12 new fed Unis and 150 schools built under GEJ needS a huge recurrent funding that wasn't existing during OBJ's time.

We yoruba muslims know that Governors who are chopping billions will definitely hate Biafra. Go and look at the billion of naira they are collecting even after retirement. Why would we expect them to be pro-Biafra.

Obiano, Rochas, Wike etc are not expected to support Biafra. Why our hausa and yoruba muslim skulls expect otherwise is beyond me.
Which one is Yoruba muslim again? You guy never cease to amaze.

First of all, only number 2 & 7 are actually in effect. The rest is propaganda; and some major b.S. Buhari is too old to rule this nation. He is preaching d anti corruption crusade and he's putting Nigeria on pause. Until we bring back coins into d economy; and Restore Power, Nigeria will keep crawling. Can u imagine A nation that cant

It is obvious you are angry at change. If we didn't produce pencil when we had excess earning how do we do it now?

If beremx should say this i believe her, the lasg had good intentions but the civil/evil servants won't let the populace have it, private investors jhave to go into rice cultivation, milling and production.
I suggest the LASG hand over the already established rice farm to private hands to run and repay the LASG its investment gradually, while the LASG goes ahead to establish more rice farms and provide oversight consultancy services to the smaller private hands who may not be able to acquire highly skilled hands.
Politics › Re: How Wrong Policies Threw Economy Into Recession by Standing5(m): 9:43am On Dec 30, 2016
People can say and write all the trash they want, what I know is if oil bounces to $100pb today and govt resumes it old supply level of forex, dollar will crash to below N250/$ in less than 3 months.
One thing that will sure work in the favour of Naira is Dangote refinery. I believe the Dangote refinery is capable of reducing the pressure on forex supply by minimum of 30%.
In addition, it can start earning forex in a very short time. Imagine what happens when Dangote starts exporting excess fertilizer and refined crude.
