We saw posts like this before the 2015 election all know how it ended. The gap this time around will leave no room for petty politic after the election

BIDOO:
what a blabbing statement? With this commentary you will think you make sense right? My brother you did not! Are you telling me that buhari was also illiterate that he can't Comprehend what is going on in the Economy before applying for the seat of president? And make so much promises he can't fulfil.
Trivial excuses i counted this
Didn't GEJ who comprehended what was going on in the economy apply for the seat of President? It is easy to identify the pained losers by the choice of argument.

We should be teaching people how to be productive. Truth is our school system teaches how to be productive but Nigerians appear to under a strong spell that makes them crave fast result. Look at Dangote today, he didn't just push for a cert and pressed for a white collar job with it. He gave us cement, food, sugar, and industries.

chriskosherbal:
Given the recent economic downturn, I don't think we need any industrial action in form of strike. Please government act fast.
Act fast by doing what? The ASUU people are not serious. You agreed on education funding when there was excess earning and want it implemented when there is a huge deficit. Somebody is playing 2019 politics obviously . . .

And you feel so proud to arrogate intelligence to yourself?

You can't be more intelligent than everybody. It time you begin to think outside the box like Bernie Sanders, the preferable US Democratic candidate.
You are clearly one of the ignorant. What did GEJ do to deserve those placards?
Politics › Re: People With Placards Beg Jonathan To Come Back In Police Presence In Sokoto by Standing5(m):
This is a result of ignorance that's deep within the system.

Our economic decline started under GEJ, and Iweala attested to this fact when she warned us. Those Abokis are illiterates who can't read or process such info.
What we had as excess earning under GEJ is more than what Buhari govt has had so far.

Many people don't know the extent our politicians, the rich, and the elites go through to get powers ,money and fame and yet they say nothing like witches and wizards. I was laughing when the owner of this forum always say witches and wizards don't exit. But I could remember that the time the oba of ota died few months back and there was curfew and rites imposed on the town from 9pm. To my amazement all the shops and offices closed early including nairaland office.
I wonder why he didn't wait for the ritualists and the priests to tell them that there is nothing like wizards and witches in what they are doing.
Then he should wait for the results. Cowards forming atheist.

ASUU should pls 'use brain' here oh . . .
If with excess fund FG couldn't implement the agreement, how do they expect it to be implemented when there is deficit and shortage of fund in the system?
I stop here because if I go further now, they say its blame game.

True talk. Between April 2014 and January 2015 when the fight against BH stalled the girls where technically sold into slavery by the handlers of NA. With our porous border the girl were long gone before Buhari came in.
Politics › Re: Fayose And Aregbesola Disagree On Sale Of National Assets by Standing5(m): 3:18am On Oct 03, 2016
Topskybadoo:
But Fayose, in his remarks, said selling the national assets was like selling Nigeria at a give-away price.

“Selling our national assets simply amounts to auctioning Nigeria. If we sell the assets because the country is in recession, what would be left of Nigeria?

“What would we call our own? Selling of assets is like moving the country backward. If we sell the assets to finance this year’s budget what would we sell next year? The Federal Government should look beyond its party and assemble economists and financial experts that would assist the President in his drive to bring the nation out of the present economic quagmire .”
Fayose made sense initially but then tried to play vile politics when he delved into the issue of competent hands.
Politics › Re: Fayose And Aregbesola Disagree On Sale Of National Assets by Standing5(m): 3:12am On Oct 03, 2016
Even though Fayose isn't my favourite governor, I go with him here. Aregbe should auction his own 'idle' state assets.
Politics › Re: Oil Price Hits $50, Nigeria’s Exports To Rise by Standing5(m):
Sweet. Before they auction us as national assets God has intervened.
Politics › Re: News Fayose, Aregbesola Disagree On Sale Of National Assets by Standing5(m): 2:56am On Oct 03, 2016
The rascal versus the tout. I go with the tout on this one.
Next time Aregbe should borrow against his state IGR which is a reflection of the state economy and not FG allocation which is unpredictable and beyond anyones' control. He kept borrowing against oil allocation and now he wants FG to auction 'idle' assets. As a governor, where are the assets he put in place with record earnings from oil? He wants to dictate to FG now because he in deep shít. Let him auction state assets too.

blueto:
Lame! it took the super clueless certificateless cattle rearer 16 months to conduct a successful rigging conclusive election and 6 months in appointing unmerited ministers who colluded with him in formulating inordinate policies and rash decisions that ruined the economy. Just like failing to fulfil his economic promises, he has also failed in fulfilling social promises like visiting the Chibok community, or should we blame GEJ for that too??.

You asked what he did for Bayelsa as if he was the president of republic of Bayelsa, did the economic stability, good standard of living not affect Bayelsa?? If he solely focused on Bayelsa, same people like you will open you mouths to chant marginalisation.
I forgot Jonathan the governor is different from Jonathan the President. Sorry ehn.

blueto:
Imagine Obansajo raining animadversions on GEJ for an alleged ‘reckless’ spending, and one would think he wasn't culpable of such.

Anyway, no amount of libelous statements against GEJ can sway me, because I know and it is indelible to me that GEJ performed excellently. They attribute his success to oil price as if oil price can automatically improve the economy without good and apt economic policies in order to make optimal use of revenues. Was Nigeria the only oil producing nation when Jonathan was in power?? why was it that no other oil producing economy was able to challenge the Nigerian economy in becoming the third fastest growing economy in the world and the largest economy in africa with inflation rate at a single digit? it was clearly because of the repercussions of his apt economic policies and programmes. His policies were evaluated and rated topnotch globally by world bank and other eminent int'l and local economic institutions.

through the comprehensive Agricultural Transformation Agenda program of the previous govt, they recorded many landmark achievements. Through agriculture they created thousands of jobs across the country. The provision of inputs in 10 Northern states enabled dry season farming; and profitably engaged over 250,000 farmers and youths even during the dry season.

Through the comprehensive Agricultural Transformation Agenda program, inflation fell to 7.8% in October 2013, its lowest since 2008, as a result of higher domestic food production.

they launched the Growth Enhancement Scheme to provide targeted support for seeds and fertilizers to 5 million farmers per year or 20 million farmers within four years. Through the scheme, they were providing subsidized inputs to farmers via an e-Wallet program. In fiscal year 2013, an estimated 4.2 million farmers received subsidized inputs. As a result, in 2013, they produced 1.1 million metric tonnes of dry season rice across 10 Northern states; and over 250,000 farmers and youths in these states are now profitably engaged in farming even during the dry season.

they launched Staple Crop Processing Zones to support investments in the entire agricultural value chain. there are significant private investment commitments from agribusiness ventures such as: Flour Mills of Nigeria, the Dangote Group, Syngenta, Indorama, AGCO, and Belstar Capital.

In 2012, 2.2 million metric tonnes of cassava chips were exported, exceedingthe Agricultural Transformation Agenda’s target by over 100%, while the 40% substitution of cassava for wheat has been achieved through research and collaboration with the IITA and Federal Institute for Industrial Research.

Similarly, there has been a decline in wheat imports to Nigeria from an all-time high of 4,051,000MT in 2010 to 3,700,000 MT in 2012.

These days, the most discernible policy of the new APC government is to attack everything Jonathan. However, propaganda can only mask the truth in the short-term. It cannot destroy the truth in the medium to long-term. No matter what APC traducers say, the fact remains that Goodluck Jonathan was an exceptional president by Nigerian standards.

Babatunde Fashola, the current minister of Power, Works and Housing. At his maiden news conference, tagged grandiloquently: “Setting the Agenda for Delivering Change,” the same Fashola who spent the election campaign running down the Jonathan administration shocked his audience by revealing that, rather than embark on new road construction projects in 2016, he would only endeavour to build on Jonathan’s achievements.

Wittingly or unwittingly, Fashola gave the lie to APC propaganda that Jonathan’s years were wasted years? If Jonathan was as incompetent as the APC would have us believe, why could the party not launch its own superior nationwide road-building plan, as Buhari had promised in the heady days of the 2015 election campaign? Why rely on allegedly sub-standard PDP foundations?
Any clueless buffon can perform 10 times what Jonathan did if given similar resources. Jonathan can only rack up those bloated projects because the funding at federal level that helps him hide the dirty details. What did the man do in Bayelsa?
Politics › Re: Umahi Increases Ebonyi Workers' Salaries By 5%, Pardons 32 Prisoners (Pics) by Standing5(m): 3:49pm On Oct 02, 2016
HungerBAD:
Good News.

Kudos to the Governor and people of Ebonyi State.

This is a very important News. Ebonyi State is one of the poorest States in Nigeria, and if that State can increase her workers salary, then we can safely say the Economy has started or is starting to look up.

Salaries goes with the current economic indexes. And to those "Incurable Pessimists" here on Nairaland, please for once see something good in Nigeria.

Fayose and Wike should follow this Example.
Ebonyi can increase salary even if the economy does't surge. Reason being that it has a good IGR. While other states were borrowing against oil price benchmark, Ebonyi made efforts to increase IGR. Osun state and the other heavily indebted states ought to learn here.
